As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.

Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Oh my, that is some of the most beautiful water I have ever seen!!! Bermuda is officially on the list now.
The waves there look like the ones here in NC, so they didn't look too big to me, LOL. I was shocked when my sis and I went to the Sheraton on Nassau last year (day pass, we were on a cruise) and the water on thier beach was flat as a pancake. I could actually wade out a ways and sit there; it was great!!!!!

I hear you about Ocean City. I really prefer going to the beaches down South, were the sand is more packed and family friendly. When my DD was picking up cigarette butts out of the sand in OC, that was when I decided enough was enough.

at least they were ONLY cigarette butts! we found needles--like hypodermic needles--washed up on the shore in wildwood once (i was very young--so mid-80's)
i've never been to a beach south of maryland (well, with the exception of the bahamas.) i may need to remedy that this summer!
After freshening up in my cabin, I made my way to Magenta for dinner. There was only one problem—it seemed I was invisible. They were taking reservations, and I was standing AT the hostess station—like I was actually touching it. And yet families kept coming up and putting in their names and taking their buzzers and walking away…as though I wasn’t even there! This was frustrating…so I gave up and walked down to the Grand Pacific. Ah well—Magenta didn’t look that impressive anyway. I’m much more a fan of the ‘typical’ cruse dining room style of Grand Pacific.
Because it was lobster night, it took a bit of time to be seated. This was my first (and only) Main Dining Room solo meal, and I have to say that if you’re going to dine alone somewhere, it might as well be in the Main Dining Room of a cruise ship on lobster night! The place was so packed—and everyone was talking and laughing and smiling—that not only did I have a lot to look at, but I’m 100% positive that no one noticed little old me sitting there by herself. For those of you wondering what dining alone on a cruise ship looks like, you’re in luck! I took these photos just for you! (I’m just so thoughtful like that!)
You’ll note that the first photo may look familiar. Why? Because surely you’ve been in a restaurant before when your dining partner had to use the restroom or take a call—well, dining alone is just like that—but for longer! I did bring my kindle with me, which was good as service was a bit slow (again, it was lobster night and packed!)
But, eventually, my food arrived. First off, the appetizer—a polenta cake with motzerella, tomatoes, and pesto. It was pretty good…
Next, the main course—the lobster tail plus some red snapper and zucchini. This photo is awful, but the meal was pretty good. Definitely not the best lobster I’ve ever had—but hey, it was included! And the snapper was quite good, too.
For dessert—more panna cotta! Again, I’ll post all of the panna cotta photos I took at once later. It’s actually kind of creepy how many panna cotta photos I have, so I hope you will all be amused!
Because dinner took so long, I was running late for my next activity—watching Battle of the Sexes in Spinnaker with my new friend (and fellow solo cruiser) Anne. Fortunately she had already found seat, so I joined her. Battle of the Sexes was VERY funny—and, at times, definitely a bit…ahem…adult.
I spent the rest of the evening in Spinnaker because, well, that’s where everything I wanted to do was located! Up next—Band-eoke, which is just like karaoke but with a live band. Now, there’s something you should know about me—I’ve always wanted to sing with a live band. I used to date this loser…er, I mean guy…that had a band. And while his band mates would occasionally play the guitar for me and I’d sing along, and while I played drums with them on several occasions, my loser…er, exboyfriend…hated it when I sang. I mean, I’m not a terrible singer (I’m not awesome, either) but that always bothered me. So, when one is on a cruise all by herself and the opportunity arises to sing with a band—one takes it! So, with apologies to my Cruise Critic friend Laura, I sang Piano Man (Laura hates Billy Joel!) It was very fun, and I’m glad I did it!
When everyone was through singing (there were some talented people on board…and some not so talented…) it was time for Liars Club, which may have been my favorite entertainment of the entire cruise. It’s also the only entertainment that I snapped a photo of…
Liars Club was like watching a game of Balderdash played by three of the on board performers (the comedian, the hypnotist, and one guy from Second City…hey, that sounds like the beginning of a ‘walked into a bar’ joke!) They were given a word and had to give the definition—and then we all had to vote to determine who was telling the truth. I can’t remember a time when I’ve laughed that hard!
I didn’t return to my cabin that night until almost midnight—and then I sat around and typed up my ‘notes o’ the day’…and then set my alarm for 7 am!
Up next…my final day in Bermuda. The plan—find some way to snorkel!

sadly for me, a moon gate is a structure brought to bermuda from somewhere in the east (china? japan? i wasn't taking notes so i don't remember!) that acts as a sort of blessing for married couples (kind of like a chuppah?) you are supposed to walk under it together and be blessed with long life and happiness...or something. i avoided all of them for fear that i'd be blessed being happy BY MYSELF (which i already am--but i also really love my husband!)
