As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

And Jen, is there a picture of your delicious sounding pretzels?
It will be in Boston Common, near the corner of Boylston and Tremont, opening sometime in April. We're going to try to have a PP meet there on opening day-- check the "Meets and Gatherings" forum closer to the date!
Wow! I was so far behind because of my trip-it sounds like you are having a great time! Great meet and shopping trip! I love the chocolate dipped pretzels!

What a great meet, such cute gifts from both of you - love the mickey tissue holder. The rooms are really big at OKW, a co-worker of mine owns there and never stays anywhere else...he said it is just so peaceful.
To all those wanting the tissue holder pattern She wrote me some instructions. Now she said to remember that her first language is not English, so she hopes it makes sense. I don't knit, so it all sounds foreign to me.
Mickey pants tissue holder
Start with thick wool and cast on 24 stitches.
Start with left stitches and knit 18 rows (front right stitches, back left stitches) In row 19 (left row - cast off the middle two stitches and knit both parts individually until you come to 32 rows. Once you have 32 rows, knit the first "leg" part, then cast on two stitches and knit the second "leg" part. Knit another 32 rows (counting from the new casted on stitches). Once you have reached the "new" 32 rows, (right side) knit 8 stitches, then knit 2 stitches together, cast on 1 stitch, knit another 4 stitches, cast on 1 stitch and knit two stitches together to get the button holes. Knit 5 more rows and cast off all stitches.
Fold the "trousers" so the legs are the same length and crochet them together.

Thanks. She had to get in on the action too. Shen's not used to being the center of attention with the camera. LOL

I really crammed a lot in there. I even dumped it out a few times to rearrange the parts to make them fit better.

I hope you had a fabulous trip. It was a really fun day. I had worried how good it would be with out actually going to a park and it was still great.

Those rooms are so nice...I wouldn't mind staying in one if I had the chance.
I was really tempted to get these as well….but I held off.
My treats were finally done! Boy, I didn’t expect THAT price! In 2009, the treats were a snack credit. They no longer are, but I still didn’t think it would be over $9.00 for 3 pretzels…….Oh well….I would enjoy them.
I made my way towards the bus stop.
I had to wait a bit for the bus, but it wasn’t too bad for DTD. I find the bus system there is the WORST of all of WDW. It just takes forever usually. There were some line guard type guys and I was impressed. They really made people stick to a spot, no leaning on the rope, no line jumping…it was kind of nice actually. The bus came and I rode in a pretty crowded bus back. Of course we had to stop over on the other side of DTD (where I never see people get on or off), and then stop at the other 2 All Star resorts as well. I talked to a lady next to me on the bus. She was very nice. She was there for an anniversary trip and was having the time of her life. I made it back to Movies and took a few pictures. I actually should’ve went straight back to the room and left my bags and got moving again, but I didn’t.
I dropped off my bags, freshened up a bit, the best you can do with sweltering heat at all hours of the day and night and worked my way back to the bus.
I never actually went into the gift shop, something I wish I did do.
As I walked to the bus stop, I saw a bus just pulling out and the MK line was empty! Dang it!!!! I JUST missed the MK bus…..I should’ve moved a little faster. Time was flying by and I knew I would be cutting it very close at getting to the Poly before Wishes started.
I tried a few shots in the dark while waiting…but they really didn’t turn out so great.
A bus finally arrived and we were on our way. I quickly walked to the monorail and rode it over to the Poly. I watched my watch tick tick tick…I pulled out my camera and started setting it to the settings I wanted….tick tick tick…. I pulled out my remote shutter release and attached it to the camera…tick tick tick….I even got the tripod out and extended it as best I could….tick tick tick…..We made it to Poly and I went at a jog to get to the beach. The fireworks were starting already. I have NEVER been to the Poly and had I known better, I wouldn’t have set up shop right there near the pool. I found out later…AFTER the fireworks, that there were better views just a little further down the beach. OH well. I know for next time. I have to say I did not enjoy the view and I was just stressed and sweating so much at this point, that it took this neat, new experience and made it less magical. I am glad I did it though. I just wish I would’ve made it a bit earlier so I could’ve scoped out my options and play with my camera a bit. This is what I took. I am NOT happy with the shots at all.
And that’s the end of the half way decent pictures. I took many more, but they are big blobs OR I cut half of them off. One shot is very colorful…but you only see a very small portion of them because I didn’t have them in the frame well. I guess it was a good learning experience. I then decided to try and take a few more shots of the view.
I saw them bringing the water parade back and tried some shots of that too. They were actually putting it away and you could see them go forward and then back up and disappear into the unknown.

Good for you sticking to the plan and heading out again for fireworks. I'd have been so tempted to just collapse in the room after that long day and all the heat!
Thanks for the "recipe" for the tisue holder--I think I can figure it out. Thank her for me?
I'm sorry you weren't happy with your pictures of Wishes--if it's any consolation, I enjoyed looking at them--we rarely ever make it to the fireworks for a variety of reasons, so looking at others pics of them are as close as I usually get!
Hope you were able to get cooled off and got a good nights sleep!
(Cute picture of Claire, too, btw)
