Tom You’ve Just Turned 30…What’s Next?...We’re Going to WDW!! (01/09-01/22) PTR - Page 12 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Well Alex's Birthday is over and it is back to reality. I think we were all ready to get back into our routine. Alex loved his Birthday and all his presents. Although next year I am going to hold off on the Flu shot until after his birthday. I think it made him feel kind of yucky cause he was a bit grumpy.
Now today I am checking out my To Do list and seeing what I need to start getting done. Only 82 days left and I still have alot to do. I think I am finally done messing around with ADR's and have them set. This is just a quick update. I will post my fianlized ADR's later this week. Now I am headed over to Touring Plans to see what has changed and start to make some park day plans.
Well this week has been a busy Disney Week. I realized that we are 72 days out and I still have a lot to do. Our business is starting to hit its holiday busy time so I need to finish a few things now cause once thanksgiving weekend hits we are going to be busy straight to Christmas (hopefully). Anyway, I got a great tip on a Golf Cart rental and Tom called today. We now have a golf cart for the trip and paying less than half of what Disney would charge. I showed Alex a You Tube video of the Fort Wilderness Cabins Resort and he seems interested in it. I think he will like the resort. I started doing our touring plans and got about halfway done. I need to read up on all the attractions and do some more tweaking but they are on the way. I have finalized our ADR’s and we are all very happy with them.
Our ADR and Park Days line up goes like this –
Sunday 1/8/2012 – Just arriving no park this day
Lunch – Trail’s End
Dinner – Whispering Canon Café
Monday 1/9/2012- We are going to use this day to rest and explore
Lunch – The Turf Club Lounge
Dinner – Hoop Dee Doo Musical Review
Tuesday 1/10/2012 – Animal Kingdom
Breakfast – Tusker House
Dinner – I might still try for an ADR for this night, not sure yet.
Wednesday 1/11/2012- Hollywood Studios
Breakfast – Hollywood and Vine
Dinner – 50’s Prime Time Café
Thursday 1/12/2012 - Epcot
Breakfast – Akershus Royal Banquet Hall
Dinner – The Garden Grill
Friday 1/13/2012 – Magic Kingdom in AM and Epcot in the PM for EMH
Breakfast – Cinderella’s Royal Table
Dinner – Via Napoli
Saturday 1/14/2012 – Downtown Disney and Boardwalk
Breakfast – 1900 Park Fare
Dinner – Kouzzina
Sunday 1/15/2012 – Epcot in the AM and Magic Kingdom in the PM for EMH
Breakfast – Whispering Canyon Café
Dinner – Trail’s End
Sunday 1/22/2012 – Check-out of the Cabin and spend some time in Downtown Disney
Breakfast – Trail’s End
Lunch – T-Rex
Then it will be time to start the drive home. Hopefully these don’t change anymore but who knows what could happen. As our trip gets closer we are starting to sit and watch Disney Movies together at night. So far we have watched Finding Nemo and part of Aladdin; hopefully we will finish Aladdin tonight. He seems to like them so far. He already loves 101 Dalmatians. He usually is picky about what he watches so I am glad Disney movies appeal to him. Since he has turned 4 he has done quite a bit of changing and his speech is finally starting to come out. We are sooooo happy. He seems to even have some excitement about the trip and is interested when I am looking through my Disney books. He even says his own version of Mickey and Minnie. The closer the trip gets the more excited we all get. 72 days and counting.

Well like all things, everything is subject to change. You know how in my last update I posted our Plans and ADR's. Well this week we went and changed them AGAIN. Tom started reading some of the same TR's that I am reading and loved some of the ideas about meals and things that my fellow PPer's did. So we started to look at our ADR's and decided to push back some of our breakfasts, make them around 9 instead of 8, plus added some lunches instead of breakfasts. I am holding off putting up another updated list until it is closer to the time we go since we may still make changes. I am hoping we have it pretty well set. We are hoping that 2 table service meals a day will be ok for Alex. We figure he needs to sit and have meals anyway and we are going to be in so many new places that he will be ok. Plus we have things on our phones to keep him busy and happy with sitting for a bit.
Since we are 64 days out, and I saw it on islandgirl's PTR (hope she doesn't mind the copying), I am going to start putting up things we are most looking forward to trying everyday as a countdown til our trip.
So here we go...64 days to go - One of the Rides I am looking forward to is Toy Story Midway Mania.

I think it will be a little too intense for Alex to try this year but I am hoping the rest of us are able to try it and enjoy it.
Thank You For Reading!!
