The "5 Reasons to NOT GO" Versus "5 Reasons TO GO" Surprise Trip - Page 12 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

well...i did in fact make it to epcot..after a brief stop at the food court for some powerade. by the time i got there i was feeling pretty good and felt like to powerade was doing the trick. i sent a mmsg to dh to meet me in germany for our adr and while i waited i bought ds german mickey to hype up the restaurant concept. the inside of biergarten was beautiful! after dh got ds and himselt settled with food i made a trip to the buffet to check out my options. i pretty much stuck with the pretzel rolls and about 1/8 cup cauliflower soup. all seemed fine and well. after lunch we made our way to uk for boys to finish up their cars passport dealio. they had earlier bagged the idea of m&g with pixar characters as the line to the building was out the door. while boys were in u.k. i checked it out and found much more manageable lines. 20 people for lotso was hardly discouraging. 2 hours later we had met lotso, potato head, mr. fredrickson, doug, russel, mater, and frozone. all new for us except mater. only pics aloud and no autographs. i was feeling pretty good and didnt mind the air conditioned m&g one bit. next we decided to monorail it to mkkk for a boat to wl for some exploration before heading to fw...
i'm on the phoen again so excuse the none use of caps. i'll post another update below.

Countdown to April/May 2014 Boardwalk Inn.....3 Generations trip with my mom (first trip) and DS9 (fourth trip). DS's gonna show his Gramma the world!
dh and ds were excited to ride the tronorail to mk. both were excited by the ide of staying at wl in future...until ds saw blt and said it was better and he wanted to stay there...make up ur mind!
made it to fw just as the skys opened up...mad dash to pioneer hall and we escaped being too wet...mostly dry by the time we went into hall. ds happy with hoop dee doo...sufficiently entertaining for all ages...but maybe not someone feeling poorly - kwim. again, i tool it easy and just had a couple bites of chicken and a couple bites of potatoes and maybe a sliver of corn bread. no appetite/no problem right? except that it was killing me to think of all the wasted money spent on ddp when i couldnt eat. by end of show i started feelong poor again. stomach starting to send off warning messages that even a bite here and there was a mistake. it took 1 hour to get back to pop from fw using the special hddr buses...uggh!
fast forward through the nigh..call to nurse on call service, dr on call, and now I am at celebration hospital getting meds and work up. could be viral, more likely food bourne...will run a couple tests to rule out gal bladder issue.
dh called front desk at pop and said i was sick and needed a taxi to hospital..could they help..got transfered and told him they would be glad to provide complimentary transp to hospital and to just go down to front drive and they would we waiting there...when i got there no one knew anything about anything..someone did get me a voucher and put me ina cab...i didnt even care about paying for it..but dont throw something out there and then not follow through...especially unmagical!
as for celebration hospital..so far so good. 1 hour from leaving pop I had a sympathetic dr. in front of me.....we'll see what kind of nightmare happens when the billing process gets started.
dr gave me one anti spasm met IV and still waiting on tests..not exactly the vacation i imagined or hoped for. boys are at dhs...
thanks for all your pixies and well wishes!

So. After spending most of the day in the hospital yesterday, I learned that I have one heck of a stomach bug. They did ultrasound and xray and both showed the major cause of all the pain being some extreme intestinal inflammation. They super hydrated me and advised me to refrain from anything but water until Monday morning and then start the BRAT diet and continue for a couple days. Yummy...just in time for our breakfast at Akershus. Months and months of perusing menus on All Ears and looking at food pics...and I get to eat bananas, rice, applesauce and toast....that is, when I get to eat. Even though we are here until the 21st, our DDP ends on the 18th when we switch to Poly....so I'll have to see what type of ADRs I can make for late Tuesday or Wednesday to use up some of there TS credits I haven't been using.
The boys were at DHS yesterday. They finished up at Sci Fi Cafe around 2:20 and texted me their update. I reminded DH about the 3pm Pixar parade. A few minutes later he texted back that he had just sold the idea of waiting for the parade to DS when they walked by STAR TOURS 2.0 and realized they were starting a soft opening. I texted back...OF COURSE GO TO THE SOFT OPENING!!! After a little bickering back and forth, the boys finally settled on give the new Star Tours a try. I checked out the Star Tours page on TouringPlans.com and didn't see any reference to any soft openings being started. I was hoping that DH wasn't mistaken and then DS disappointed. Nope...it was in fact a soft opening and I heard all about it when they got back last night. Cool for them.....sucks for me.
When they came out of ST it had been raining and most of the outdoor shows had been closed. DS requested to hop over to MK. Other than grabbing a bite to eat at Casey's (yummy) I'm not sure what else they did at MK. A sleepy DS said he wanted to come back to the hotel for a swim, so they headed out for a bus. A short wait later they were on a POP bound bus. However, a few minutes later they hadn't moved at all. Another few minutes later they announced the bus had broken down and that they would be sending another POP bus around soon. A little over 20 minutes later and they were finally on a bus on their way back. Unfortunately, this delay made it a little too late for a swim and the boys decided to just hit the hay.
The boys are off at Animal Kingdom today. I'm still playing it safe and just hanging out here in the room with my bottles of water. I've got a mega-headache today...I'm assuming it's from low-blood sugar. I asked the Dr. about drinking powerade or pedialyte and he said "WATER". He said even the little bit of sugar in those drinks could irritate my stomach, etc. I'm hoping that I won't be too weak to give some park hoping a try tomorrow. The days of this trip are ticking by and I'm wondering if I'll enjoy any of them.
Even when I got out there on Friday afternoon, I was finding it difficult to take it all in and enjoy myself. I feel so off and unsettled that the idea of having fun seems so foreign. Has this trip ruined Disney for me???
