Making Lemonade out of Mousefest **Updated 2/18** COMPLETE - Page 12 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So glad you made it and your luggage was there. Though, I don't understand how they could fly your luggage but not you? Anyhoo, sounds like you had a great ride partner and can't wait to hear more about your trip.

Yikes! Sounds like you had one heckuva day getting to WDW. But at least you made it! The room looks great! We just got 100 pts to use at Saratoga Springs for adding on 100 pts at BLT, so now I'm really excited to stay there!

My Stitch wake up call came bright and early. I don't remember exactly what time, but the sun was up so I'm guessing it was around 7:30. I showered, dressed and headed for Artist Palate because they were already closed when I got in the night before so I hadn't purchased any breakfast items. I grabbed my mug . . . yes this was my 3rd year of a million dreams trip and I have 4 YOMD mugs. I recycled. No one knew. I promise. I'll buy a new one in May. I promise.
I bought a bagel and snagged some cream cheese and grape jelly, I filled my mug with hot chocolate and coffee . . . half and half. I call it make your own mocha. I demolished my bagel and drank about half my coffee. I dumped the rest and reloaded with diet coke and set out for AK. Oh by the way I had jumped in the car to get to AP so I jumped back in the car and drove to AK. Why? I was going from AK to DHS and then to Epcot. I ended up driving most of the week. Having a car actually turned out to be a big bonus. I don't need one when I'm traveling alone, but I will probably rent one for next Mousefest.
I got to AK for rope drop.
There was a VERY cranky woman just behind me at the turn styles. She saw my neon yellow lanyard and through her nose said to her husband, "Oh no, this is the day Mousefest comes to this park, its gonna be packed." Think Fran from the Nanny as you repeat that line outloud. She then proceeded to yell at her children. I never figured out what they did wrong. After the opening ceremony I attempted to have some photopass pictures taken, but that didn't work out so well, so I continued on to Africa for the All Ears photo hunt. First I grabbed a fast pass for Everest
I waited patiently in line and someone handed me a button. Cool! Free stuff! Then Deb handed me a hat. Cool! More Free stuff. Eventually someone also handed me the photo hunt. I believe we had to match 5 photos. It only took about 5 minutes. Way too easy, but also fun. I "turned in" my answers and recieved an All Ears coin purse for my trouble, which is still in the trunk of my car, in my luggage. Oopps.
I headed towards Everest and browsed in the gift shop for a moment.
There was scheduled to be an EE meet at 10am, so when my FP was good at 9:55 I did not hesitate to get in line. I really didn't want to wait in the FP line with 100 other people. I was in and out in about 5 minutes. The Yeti was not working properly, but I almost think he's creepier with that crazy strobe light!
After EE I headed back to Discovery Island and I intened to hit Dinosaur, but I saw this guy and had to stop, with almost no wait.
My FAVORTIE!!!
Then since I had such good luck with Stitch I headed down to the Character Spot and found ONE group ahead of me in line so I met
AND
I was so happy it was big furry characters because it was COLD! Pooh and Eeyore warmed me right up!
After meeting the boys I decided it was time to head over to DHS for my lunch at HBD. I tried to have some Tree of Life Photopass pictures taken, but a random family jumped in front of me like I didn't exist so there are Zero TOL PP pics of me. Interestingly enough this was the only park I never made it back to. I usually spend lots of time in AK, but my park plans kind of disappeared after today.
I almost forgot. I did forget, until I looked back at my Eeyore picture and noticed my ears.
When EE came to a stop the Dream Team was standing there. I screamed like a 12 year old.
Please keep in mind that almost everyone on the train is a cheerleader with the Pop Warner group. They have no idea what is going on. They all look at me like I'm INSANE!
Someone announces that we've all won ears! I scream again. Now for sure I"m insane. I jump out of the run away train car and am the first one to get her grubby little hands on brand new ears.
I love ears. They are one of my favorite thing about Disney. I have traditional black ears. I have pirate ears, I have blue history of mickey ears and NOW I have YOMD ears!
I took this one and then a friendly cast member took one for me!
I ran all the way to Dinoland in my excitement. (I know that there is an underused bathroom in Dinoland)
But this one is my favorite. Too cute.....picture and your reaction.

So glad you got your ears. One day when we were at AK, we saw people everywhere with Dream FP's and we thought of you! Then it also became a game of seeing someone with a Dream, and shaking our fists at the sky and saying, "Dream Team!"
