Sarilas' O-fficial Pre-Trip Report -1/2009 (a.k.a. Vacation, Take TWO!) - Page 12 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Last night was the opening night of Disney On Ice here in NashVegas - we took all the kids and had SO much fun! I'll tell you this though, Lexi was C-R-A-N-K-Y after about two hours of confinement. Note to self for Disney World in January! (I think she would have been okay in a stroller or something, but she didn't like the stadium seats and walking back and forth in our aisle only works for so long...)
The show included Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy, the characters from Cars, Lion King, The Little Mermaid and what will be the Tinkerbell movie! In fact the Tinkerbell portion took up the entire second half of the program - it was a great preview of what the storyline will be AND we got to hear what Tinkerbell will sound like! I captured a little snippet of video during that portion of the program... it's uploading now (and hopefully I can figure out how to post it- you can hear what Tinkerbell sounds like. Sort of. As much as a point and shoot camera allows for anyway!).
Without further ado...
Disney On Ice!
Mickey and Minnie's car breaks down...
They call for help!
Look who arrives!
The cars get Mickey's car going again...
...on to the Little Mermaid!
Ariel gets legs!
Eric kisses her...
And transition to... The Lion King!
Intermission time! What's that I see? Fairy cotton candy?! MUST-HAVE!
...and wear the flower as a hat. (Tatiana with her Tinkerbell mug and Ariel light up wand musical thingy)
And a hat. (Lexi, on my lap.)
And... a hat. (Kyle. 13 going on THREE!)
Stasia on DH's lap, playing with her Tinkerbell light up twirly thingy.
On with the show!
In the beginning... Tinkerbell is BORN! She wears a white gown, and her hair is down instead of being up in a bun... (hard to see, sorry!) She is introduced to all the other fairies by the Fairy Queen. Each fairy is blessed with a gift... light, water, speed, flowers, etc. Tinkerbell must discover her talent.
The guy everyone is facing, the one skating with gold wings is the keeper of the pixie dust!
Tinkerbell discovers she's a TINKER fairy! The Tinkers are the inventors, the makers of all the things that allow the other fairies to do their jobs and to bring Spring each year to the Mainland (our world).
Tinkerbell meets the other Tinker fairies...
Tinkerbell wants a different talent and confides in pixie dust holding guy.
There's a naughty fairy, I don't have a good pic of her but she's got black hair and wears black and purple. She's very stuck up and gets Tink to do something bad that will keep the fairies from being able to bring Spring to the Mainland.
The Fairy Queen and the boss lady of the tinker fairies...
Tink comes up with a way to fix what she's done and she saves the day!
I must've had a really sweet past life because THIS one is chaotic and exhausting!
My Dad's been out of the hospital for one day since having to start dialysis emergently.(He's been in renal failure for some time, we've just been waiting for dialysis to happen.) This morning he woke up with blood in his urine and we had to rush him to the ER at the VA hospital. Turns out it's not abnormal for this to occur after all they've done to his kidney's in the last week. WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO KNOW THAT BEFORE TODAY!
When Kyle wakes up his face looks like this:
As do his arms. Thank you, POISON IVY!
Whisk Kyle off to the pediatrician. Get oral steroids. Kyle says he feels like a cyclops and other than the itching, he's having fun playing into the mythology realm. He'd find a way to enjoy anything, that kid!
Yeah, so have I mentioned lately HOW MUCH I COULD REALLY USE A VACATION?!
DH's bonus check is all set to come in on Monday. We're depositing that puppy immediately and I'm calling my TA first thing in the am to pay for the room and dining. (We're paying for the entire trip in cash, so I'm juggling the timing of paying off things - not using credit cards means lots of balls in the air!) I'm keeping out about $1000 in case Southwest decides they love me, they really love me and they want to give me an unbelievable ding fare... That just leaves upgrading our dining to deluxe in December when we'll also buy the tickets for the parks... But paying off the room and dining will make it REAL to me, and at least I'll know there's a light at the end of my chaotic tunnel!
Alright this next one is just SLAYING ME. Remember, this has all happened just today!
Anastasia thought I needed some cheer brought into my life, so she (and I quote) "decorated the TV for me"...
All you moms out there froze in your seats when you heard those words, didn't you!
I grabbed my cell phone while the moment was still fresh, because I just HAD to post this for you all... a little glimpse into our never a dull moment life!
Here was her decoration... crayon!
And here she is, lamenting her decision when I made her help clean it up.
She looks just like Dora...
I sent those to my DH who could NOT stop laughing.
I have been reading the Disney Fairy books to may daughters. I hope Disney on Ice comes to my area. I would love to take them to see this show. It looked like they were enjoying the show.

They really did! I was surprised how 'into' it my 3 year old was; it was the first show of any kind we've ever taken her to but she loves Tinkerbell, and she was just fascinated by getting to see her in 'real life'. I highly recommend it!

I just saw you're in Gardnerville! I lived in Sparks for a long time, even graduated high school at Reed High! My bff still lives there... small world!
I hope the decorations came off the TV and the poison ivy clears of soon. That cannot feel good. Can't wait to hear more.
Thank you! His swelling and redness seems to be going down, though still itchy... I guess that's to be expected though! (That'll be the last time he yanks a vine off the tree!)

OMG... I'd better not leave the DIY network on in her presence anymore!
And interestingly enough... a dry paper towel took the crayon off with no trouble. I was THRILLED!
Hello, all! I'm finally able to update again after what can only be described as months of chaos! (My father, who lives with us, started dialysis, I'm homeschooling my oldest child and my husband spent a week in the hospital. CHAOS!)
Nonetheless... there are updates to be had!
Up first, we revisit Our 99 day celebration!
Because our 100th day till Disney World fell on a Thursday and because that would leave NO appropriate time to par-tay, I threw us a 99 day celebration on Friday the 3rd of October!
Mary Poppins was the movie choice (yet another one my DH had never seen!) and the meal... oh, the meal! We enjoyed:
BLT Soup (a la Sci Fi Cafe)
Bread and Honey Butter (a la all over the parks, so I'm told)
Durban Chicken (a la Boma)
'Ohana Green Beans (self explanatory!)
The food was just yummy and kids had so much fun knowing we were now in double digits!
