The "If we are already going to be in the state of Florida..." Trip Report - UPDATED 10/3 - Complete/Final Thoughts - Page 12 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sadly, after dinner, we had to part ways with our friends. They, I think hopped onto the monorail while we picked up our car and drove over to MGM. Despite the fact that MGM was having EMH, we had opted not to stay all evening because we all had early plans tomorrow morning. The kids each picked the top two things they each wanted and we promised we would get that done. The rest would have to wait until our next trip to WDW.
We hit Star Tours first and fortunately, the lines were minimal. DH and the kids went in while I perused the gift shop. I always get a kick out of watching the people doing the character photos there….they all look so serious as their face is super-imposed onto the character image! In no time, my family was out and we headed on over to Muppets 3D, both of these were Izzy’s choices. Again, we walked right into the pre-show as it was already in progress. About five minutes later, we headed into the theater. I have to admit, while I enjoy the show, it is in need of some TLC and updating.
Andrew had chosen One Man’s Dream and The Magic of Disney Animation. We strolled towards One Man’s Dream but unfortunately didn’t realize that the planned shortcut we were taking had turning into a very long trip where we had to double back…we didn’t realize they had closed part of the route due to the refurb of the old Millionaire. Ugh, my little legs were getting tired! Finally, we made it to OMD and Andrew was taking it all in. He loves to stroll through the exhibit and educate the rest of us. As usual, he continues to impress me with his extensive knowledge of Walt Disney. We slowly made our way into the theater. I was amazed and a little bit saddened that this show was so sparsely attended. I definitely think everyone should walk through the exhibit and take in the show at least once.
Lastly, we headed to The Magic of Disney’s Animation. Our family just loves this gem of a show and drawing experience! Andrew could probably stay here for a few hours and just go back into the studio to animate the different characters. Tonight, though, it seemed like the wait to get into the studio was forever. Finally, we went in and made our way to sit down. Quickly, I realized why we had to wait so long on the other side…the CM, nice as he was, was the most talkative CM I had ever encountered. What made it worse was his running commentary had nothing to do with the task at hand. So each and every time he would go off on some tangent, it would then take another minute or so for him to figure out where to pick back up. Alrighty then, it took 40, yes you heard me, 40 minutes to get through the directions on how to draw Goofy! Now, knowing that I have no artistic talents, this CM must have been doing something right because my drawing actually resembles Goofy!

Having covered the kids’ top choices, we opted to head back to the hotel. The boys had to pick up Heather’s family at 7:30 and Izzy and I had a busy morning beginning with a breakfast date at 8am. We were back in our room, washed up, and snoozing away by 11pm.

I think you all did a fantastic job drawing Goofy! I have to admit, we have never done this attraction, but I think we will have to make time for it. I just hope we don't get such a chatty CM!
I also have to admit that we have never taken time to do OMD! (I know, I should be ashamed of myself) I think I will have to pencil that one in also.
What a great night at MGM. Looking forward to hearing about your plans for breakfast.
Great update. Great Goofy drawings too. We didn't make it to the animation this trip. But it is penciled in for our trip in Sept of next year. Thanks again for sharing with us.

They caught us all smiling and looking at the camera!!!
We woke up with an early start; the boys were due to pick up Heather and her family at 7:30 for a morning at Typhoon Lagoon. The dressed and headed to the lounge for breakfast before saying a quick goodbye. Izzy and I had our own special “girly” plans. We quickly dressed and headed downstairs for the Supercalafragilistic Breakfast being held at the café while Park Fare was under rehab. We had a lovely meal and some good character interaction. Izzy was a bit on the shy side, I think since her partner in crime (aka her brother) was MIA at the water park.
Izzy's yummy, allergy free meal....
My yummy meal....
The characters....
From breakfast, we zipped upstairs to Ivy Trellis Salon. Izzy had an appointment to get an updo before the tea. However, being a true girl, she changed her mind and now wanted her hair straightened. As an aside, it is amazing how much she hates her gorgeous curly hair…I try to tell her people pay $$$ to have those curls but to no avail. So, she had her hair flat ironed and sprayed with pixie dust before changing into her princess gown and crown.
We headed downstairs to the Perfectly Princess Tea. It is here I should put a link to Karen’s (MattandKatsMum) latest installment…she did a wonderful job explaining the whole process! I will say, Izzy absolutely LOVED the tea experience from start to finish. She was enamored with Rose Petal and loved when Aurora came prancing through. She had printed out a picture at home to bring for Aurora and this was a big deal when she was able to hand it to Aurora who then graciously spent a few moments chatting and hugging Izzy. We happily sat at the ‘food allergy’ table with a set of twins …one of which had almost identical allergies to Izzy.
Notice no awesome picture of Izzy and Aurora? Yup, my camera battery died right as I was about to point and shoot!
We tore ourselves away right at noon since we had to run up to the room, finish packing up, and check out. We found the boys up in the room, freshly showered and changed and buzzing about their morning at TL. (Heather can fill in the blanks but according to my crew, there was practically no one at the park for am EMH and they conquered just about everything!) I sent them down to Gasparillas to grab some lunch and use up the remaining snack credits while Izzy and I changed and called Bell Services. It was nearing one o’clock as we made our way downstairs, through the lobby, and out the doors. We said goodbye to the GF and hopped in the car and drove to Amelia Island for part two of our trip.

It sounds like you all had a fabulous trip. So sad your trip at WDW is over but it's great that you have more fun to look forward to. Will you continue your TR here or post the rest in another forum?
Thanks for posting your wonderful trip report!

Although we had a fabulous time at AMelia Island...there is no TR for it....we basically ate, sat on the beach, swam in the pool, and let our tootsies recover from hitting the pavement at WDW!

Danielle, it's great to see the pictures from all your girly-goings-on! It looks like you both had a great time!
We did have a great time at TL! That morning, my boys knew we were going to TL, but we told them we were waiting for a bus. Fortunately, Paul and Andrew got there before a bus did, and Evan and Alec were thrilled to see Andrew, and to get to go to TL with him!
It was a quick ride to TL, and the park was almost empty! Evan and Alec were completely entranced by the wave pool, but Paul, Andrew and I knew better....to head STRAIGHT to Crush 'n' Gusher!! I had tried to explain priorities to my boys, but when they didn't want to join me, I ditched them! (I'm such an attentive mother, I know. But at least their father stayed with them. ) So Andrew, Paul and I rode Crush 'n' Gusher a couple of times (with pretty much no line!) and it was SOOO fun! Fortunately, Evan had the good sense to join us, and we got three more rides in.
While I went to find Alec and Rich, Paul took Andrew and Evan to the Shark Reef (which was a huge hit with Evan, I think a little less so with Andrew) and I think they went on some slides, too. I had a hard time finding Rich and Alec, (but I really did try!!) so I joined the other three, and we took the lazy river halfway around the park to do some more slides. Once again, the lines were minimal, so we got a lot in and really enjoyed it! It was particularly great because the day was so hot, but by spending so much time in the water, I hardly noticed the heat.
Eventually, we met back up with Rich and Alec in the wave pool. Shortly thereafter, Paul and Andrew had to head out, and we said our farewells. Shortly after that, I realized I had forgotten to take a picture of the boys together! (Yet another reason of why I'm not ready for prime time and my own TR!) So, instead I offer you a picture of Evan and Alec at TL. Just pretend Alec is Andrew. (Hey, their names both start with "A," right??)
We enjoyed TL for a couple more hours, and then headed back to POFQ. When we headed to Fantasia Gardens, and later to Spoodles for dinner, Evan kept expecting that we would have another "surprise" rendezvous with Andrew and his family. He didn't believe me when I told them they had really left for Amelia Island. (I knew I'd have to pay for being so truth-challenged! ) It took a day or so before he accepted that they really were gone, and we all agreed that we really hope we can spend more time with Danielle, Paul, Andrew and Izzy soon!
