Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Day Thirteen – Thursday, March 1
Someone’s Tail Fetish Is No Longer a Secret

We got up early for our breakfast at Goofy’s Kitchen. I’ve taken a lot of ribbing on the boards for having a tail fetish, which is so not true! And let me add that one of my accusers has posted several shots of actual PassPorter tushes rather than fluffy Disney characters with actual tails, but I’m the one with the reputation? And I won’t mention Dawn and her special relationship with Mr. Incredible. But again, why do I have the rep? Anyway, it all started because of something my DN Erica pointed it out to me, so she’s the one with the tail fetish!

We arrived at Goofy’s Kitchen and got a photo with Pluto.

Then we were shown to our table. Baloo was upon us before we knew it so we greeted him. The next to our table was Dale. We had a lot of fun with Dale, and even though he made Karen cry (she’s such a chicken around the characters), he stuck around and joked with us for a while.

The next one to our table was Belle. I find the Princesses to be among the dullest characters to meet, because it seems like if you aren’t a 6-year-old little girl, they don’t find much to say. I have met several Princesses who were great, but this Belle was feeling a bit shy around us (she’d probably heard from that blabbermouth Eileen that I had a tail fetish! ).

Once Belle ran off in fear, we headed to the buffet and filled our plates, then filled our bellies. After a while, Chip came along, and Eileen couldn’t help herself. She spilled the beans. Poor Chip was terrified and didn’t want to pose with me.

The picture is cut off like that because my mad photog skillz suffer when I am laughing hysterically

I love how the little girl is breaking her neck to see what we were all laughing so hard about! Then he finally realized that I wasn’t a pervert, and agreed to pose with me!

I must’ve had my camera on the table at some point, because Eileen or Dawn took this picture using my camera! I can’t think of any other way for it to have gotten on there!

I’ll admit to my tail fetish as soon as the other “tailies” do. Our final visit was from my favorite, Goofy.

I forget which one’s Goofy

Eileen did another of her Eiiiileeeeeeeeen™ poses with the Goofster.

We had so much fun at this breakfast, but it was time to head to Disneyland to make EE. Karen and I headed for the monorail while Eileen and Dawn went another way. They caught up with us at the monorail station, and we arrived at the park shortly thereafter. The first thing we did was Alice in Wonderland. Even though I wouldn’t consider myself a huge fan of the film, I really love this ride. I feel like you really do go right into the story (which is what all great Disney dark rides do!).

We ran into Janine, Liz and Tina (you can see Tina in the above photo). I forgot where they went, but we headed to Indy. I think I took this photo on the way there.

We went through the fun queue and noticed the Indy wannabe as we were about to board. After our fun ride, we headed to Pirates, where I saw Captain Jack Sparrow!

Well, sort of

As much as I love the WDW version, DL’s is so much better. Our next stop was the Haunted Mansion, naturally. Even with the extra special effects in the DL version, I prefer the WDW version (the setting is scarier to me), and I really can’t wait to check out the enhanced version when it opens at WDW.

We headed to Critter Country so we could try to find Eeyore for Dawn. We didn’t find him , but we did ride the Pooh ride twice because there was no wait. We hooked up with Tina, Janine and Liz here, then spent some time shopping in New Orleans Square. We saw Ernie, who we’d just heard about during the WIWF tour! Then we saw Jack Sparrow!

Tina decided to do some people watching and Liz had a PS at the Blue Bayou, so the rest of us headed to ride BTMRR. We were queued up (and I was about to get the back row), but the ride had troubles, so we got return FPs (and kudos to Karen for her brilliance here – and that should mean a lot coming from the Official FastPass Queen!)

Our next stop was the Jungle Cruise, where we had a good Skipper. I tried to avoid sitting next to Eileen, just in case she was "surprised" again and started screaming.

Eileen, please note that a terrifying picture is next. You can cover your eyes and scroll down so you don't scream and scare everyone within hearing range.

I actually love how that picture came out. Especially the rainbow! Then Karen and I stopped for a snack. I had a beef stick.

Stop snickering, you pervs!

That beef stick was very satisfying. Guess I’m a perv, too. It was about this time that I got a call from Terri saying Emilie was wanting to know what Miss Sharon was doing, so we agreed to meet in DCA later.

As we headed out of the park,we noticed Cruella DeVil greeting (if you can call it that) people. She and Eileen hit it off.

Eiiiileeeeeeeeen™

Cruella interrupted the show in progress at the firehouse.

Then she pulled in a man to join her, complete with fur coat and hat. The guy really got into it and hammed it up for the crowd.

The little girl in this pic is the man’s daughter, and she was not liking Cruella!

Then Goofy came along and did a dance routine.

You can see a couple of kids here that really should not have been so close. This was not an interactive performance.

Then we had a seat while Eileen called Calder to wish him a and we all serenaded Calder. Everyone was sober, so it actually sounded like singing.

Up Next: You Can Dress Us Up, But You Can’t Take Us Out!

Okay, I laughed hysterically through this whole update!! (Seriously, the child I'm babysitting this morning is looking at me like I'm a loon -- maybe it's just because I should be "babysitting" and not reading the boards. )

Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun at breakfast - I love the way Chip was too scared to pose with you at first! And what a cool shot from the Jungle Cruise, I just hope it didn't scare Eileen too much!

Sharon, I want you to please note the time on this post - it's after 5:30. I stayed LATE at work to finish your TR up to this point!

No need to comment on the fact that I am reading trip reports at work in the first place. Ahem.

Anyway, it was totally worth it, even with the bellyache I know have from laughing.

Love love love the San Deigo Zoo pictures - betcha can't guess which ones are competing for space as my wallpaper on my 'puter, can ya? (Hint: begins with a "h" and ends with an "ippo.")

Your DL time sounds fabulous thus far. White asparagus, frozen bananas, beef sticks, and that one very popular zebra at the zoo...sure you have a TAIL fetish?!?!

Glad you were able to all seranade Calder...although when sober, my singing sounds WORSE (or is it than when not-sober, my singing appears to be better, to me, as I suffer from the Karen-syndrome in the singing department as well?).

Cannot WAIT for more of your trip report - keep utilizing that "creative license!" It's totally entertaining!

So many of you have commented that you think I may not be telling the truth in this TR, (don’t worry, Dyan, I’m not tacky enough to name names ) (and how rude of you to do so ) so I’m going to tell only actual events this time!

Day Thirteen, Part Two
You Can Dress Us Up, But You Can’t Take Us Out!

We crossed the esplanade to DCA, and headed to our meeting spot with Terri, Sarah, and Emilie. Crystal and Doug were with them, and we all headed into the Animation building, where we caught Turtle Talk with Crush.

Duuuuude!

After Turtle Talking, we headed into the Sorcerer’s Workshop, which I love, love, love. Particularly the Beast’s library. I got a few good photos.

A CM recognized me as royalty, and insisted I pose this way…

Then a bunch of us headed into the animation academy, where we drew Donald Duck. Mine came out pretty bad, but it was still a recognizable Donald. Karen’s was terrific. She probably sold it to someone, because considering how often she kept asking to borrow money from me, I think she needed the cash! If she doesn’t share her masterpiece with us, we’ll know the answer.

Several of us were ready to hit CS, so we headed to Paradise Pier, making a stop at the Mission Tortilla Factory on the way to get fresh, hot tortillas. Karen tried to sell hers outside the building.

We queued up for Screamin’, and at the last minute, Karen decided to ride with me instead of Eileen so she could ask for money again. We got the back row, and it was a terrific ride! Though I prefer Space Mountain without the RHCP, here I thought it was fantastic, and I think it would be great if they keep it forever.

Eileen headed back to the GC for a break and Terri thought it was time for her spa appointment, so she headed out, too. The rest of us went over and rode Mulholland Madness. While we were waiting in line, Emilie decided who was to ride with whom, and I got the honor of riding with Miss Emilie.

Then we hit Jumpin’ Jellyfish, and Miss Emilie wanted to ride with me again. While we were doing JJ, we saw Lightning McQueen and Mater. Then we got on the Golden Zephyr. Emilie decided she wanted to ride with Miss Karen, so I got to ride with Terri this time, who had learned her lesson in time zone adjustment. I got some great photos on the ride.

Looks like Miss Emilie enjoyed the ride!

After this, the group split up a bit with folks going for a break and Terri going to her spa appointment (on time ). Sarah, Emilie, Janine, Karen, and I headed for the Redwood Creek Challenge.

Karen and Emilie climbed high up (probably so Karen could hit Emilie up for a few bucks). We could only see them occasionally, but we usually knew where they were when we heard Emilie.

I’ve told you already about Karen’s financial woes, so you’ll understand why her paying any more blackmail money is out of the question. So I’m posting the pictures of her stuck in the log.

Question: How the heck does one get out of this thing?!

Answer: Not gracefully

Next up was the Magic of Brother Bear show, which was cute.

When the show ended, Karen and I were ready to hit the hot tub, so we headed back to the GC.

Unfortunately, I discovered that Karen sold my swimsuit for extra cash (though she claims I must’ve packed it in the suitcase I sent home from WDW with my parents), so she and Dawn headed down for a dip while I did some exploring in the lobby. I really love the GC, and looking at these photos is making me want to go back

I spent a little time sitting by the fireplace catching up on my notes. I ran into Terri just as she was coming from her time at the spa, and she looked really relaxed. I bid her adieu for the moment and headed back to the room.

Karen was heading to DL to make sure Dawn saw the parade, and I decided to tag along. Karen was probably not happy with me, since I’m sure she was planning on hitting Dawn up for some cash.

We snagged a fantastic seat in front of the train station, and ended up sitting next to the family who’d won the night in the Mickey Mouse Penthouse. I considered claiming to be their long lost cousin-in-law, twice removed, but I didn’t think they’d go for it.

After the parade ended, we met up with Janine, Sarah and Emilie and hit BTMRR. I rode with Emilie, and I had to keep a tight grip on her so she could put her hands up! Then we headed back to the GC and got ready for our fancy dinner.

So many others have told the story of this wonderful evening that I’m not going to say much of anything about it, except to say that we had a boisterous good time, and didn’t seem to disturb any diners around us with our hearty conversations and laughter. And I’m not saying anything at all about asparagus, white or otherwise!

I knew I wanted dessert, so I decided not to get a starter. I got the Grilled Angus Beef New York Steak with Farm House Bacon & Cheddar Mac-n-Cheese and Cabernet Sauvignon Reduction, which was tasty, indeed!

For dessert, I had a delicious treat that doesn’t seem to be on the menu at allearsnet.com. I think it was some kind of banana concoction, because that seems familiar, and whenever I read a dessert menu and hit the word “banana,” that’s where I stop (and no comments from you about that, Miss Scarlett!).

Mystery dessert

And I’ve got the shot that several others have posted from dinner, but if you look carefully, there’s something different about mine.
