Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: The \'Ohana - means family - means nobody gets left behind\' trip report. Day 2 UPDATE 9/3

Glad you enjoyed Le Cellier, Karen. We just tried it for the first time in January, and they did the cardinal sin of asking DH 2ce (once at the podium, once from the waitress) what his culinary No-No's were, and both times he said NO ONIONS, and what did his meal come chock full of? Disaster. I love the Boardwalk just for its location, but I do prefer the themery of the WL. You've gotten a lot of great photos on this trip, what a happy family! More please!

Great pictures. I can never get a good one in Mexico. And the fireworks turned out great.

Kat is such a cutie and it looks like Matt is having fun.

Your pictures are beautiful. Love the Mexico one. It looks like a post card. And I'm drooling over the famous cheese soup and creme brule.

Re: The \'Ohana - means family - means nobody gets left behind\' trip report. Day 2 UPDATE 9/3

[b] <font color="purple">Of course the first thing I did this morning was check out the weather forecast. Ernesto was now due to due to hit the following morning, although Orlando was no longer in its direct path. Regardless, the weather was still going to be lousy, so I was determined to make the most of what might be our last day of decent weather.

It was EMH at Epcot so we headed back to Future World. Ernesto had a major impact on the crowds (I suspect many folks took advantage of the new hurricane refund policy). We were arrived at 8.05 and it was so quiet that we thought that EMH had been cancelled.

We wanted to hit the west side, so Test Track was our first stop. Unfortunately it wasn’t yet running so we grabbed four (unnecessary) FPs and headed for Mission Space.

I was convinced Matt would love MS, and couldn’t wait for him to experience it, but he was a little nonplussed. Anyhow, since I am convinced by Karen’s centrifugal calorie evaporation theory, I enjoyed MS far more than usual. Of course, I was not paying attention to the journey to Mars, but rather, picturing my svelte like self after a few more trips to the Red Planet. In fact, I was thinking that the others could enjoy the rest of the day in Epcot, whilst I spent the day on MS, sort of like a WDW health farm. Alas, I felt decidedly nauseas after the one ride, so decided against the idea. Maybe next time.

Steve then rode, whilst Kat played in the tube thing, which she loves.

Next we headed over to Test Track. We had planned, to split ourselves up, but Kat was desperate to ride. Given that she’d not been fazed by BTMRR, we agreed to let her try it out. And you know what? She loved it. I took this photo during one of the 'intense' bits. I reckon Steve looks more scared than Kat!

Now I’m sure it’s not for every three year old, but Kat adored it and wasn’t scared at all. I thought the beginning bit might prove intense, but she was fine. And this is a child who won’t go anywhere near The Voyage of the Little Mermaid.

Kat and Matt, loved the car promotion thing at the end of Test Track. I couldn’t get them out of the cars. Mental note to save money and take them to the nearest car showroom for their holidays.

We used up a couple of snack credits at the Fountainview Café. Matt had a Soarin’ Crème Brulee (orange flavour) and I had a muffin (not too good).

We had a brief interlude at Club Cool

Alas there was no Beverly on, which was such a shame as I'm sure Matt would have loved it

We did a little more Character Connecting. (We had to get value for money from the PhotoPass CD, you see).

And then to Figment, which Kat loves, but I hate. I did however, get the chance to send a silly picture to work.

We were trying to kill time, before World Showcase opened as Matt still needed a couple of stamps for his passport.

We spotted this turtle swimming by. You can see the monorail reflection.

At eleven, we were right into WS. Steve got Kat some McNuggets and fries (contrary to what you might read, McDonalds nuggets do not count as a snack credit). We were a little homesick (not really) and decide we would get some fish and chips from England, but it was closed for refurbishment. Given that we have a Harry Ramsdens’ ten minutes away from home, it wasn’t exactly an inspired lunch choice anyway.

Matt back 'home'.

At France, we found the Kidcot stop, only to discover that we had…………………………..AN IMPOSTER I kid(cot) you not. First, the guy was Chinese (no problem there, Chinese people live in France). Then, he only wrote one sentence in Matt’s passport, but spelt both Eiffel (Effeil) and ‘bienvenue’ (beinvenue) wrong. Mmm. So he could be illiterate. But he was definitely rumbled when Matt asked him in French if he was having having a good day. Poor guy looked mortified, and clearly didn’t have a clue what to say. Sorry, Disney. You might be able to fool a three year old, who just wants to colour a mask; but you’ve no chance with a clever clogs fourteen year old. Anyway the whole episode gave Matt and I had a good giggle.

One last stop in Morocco (definitely authentic Moroccans) and Matt’s passport was full.

We met up with Steve and Kat and decided to lunch at Sunshine Seasons. We had:

turkey and cheese sandwich

goats cheese and beetroot salad

caesar salad

The desserts are particularly good value on the dining plan. I liked Sunshine Seasons a lot. A pleasant change from burgers, I thought.

We decided to head back to the WL then, as we wanted to rest Kat before her trip to BIBBIDY BOBBIDY BOUTIQUE.

Karen - WOW! The food at Sunshine Seasons looks delicious ! It certainly doesn't look like traditional counter service food. What is that incredible chocolate concoction in your last picture? I think I have to stop there for one of those.

Can't wait to hear about Kat at BBB! Hurry back!
