Please Help = too big for the rides ??? - Page 12 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

The ONLY 2 I have ever had a problem with are Space Mountain and Astro Orbiter. Splash has the 2 person seats and it is pretty easy to stand up and step out. Space and Astro are both in the seated, legs straight style and Astro has a LARGE step down.
I hope this helps!
Let me say something about AstroOrbiter... Not only is the step down big, I wore the rocketship like a pair of pants it was such a tight fit. I'm not a HUGE Pooh, but I do wear size 22 pants and BOY was that a tight fit.

okay..so DD is like a size 32..Pooh sized to one person is someone elses not pooh sized. Anyone have experience with someone of this size? She is worried about ruining it for the kids and not being able to ride some of the ones they want to ride.
Please check out the "Vacationing Your Way:Your Special Needs" Forum. We deal with this question several times/yr and if you use the "search"feature at the top of the page, you will bring up even more info!

I am 5'1 and about 280, so I'm more Mrs. Potts than Pooh, but I've never really had a problem with the rides.
The only time I've ever really had a problem was trying to fit through the turnstiles at Small World (that was embarrassing!), but there is a wheelchair access gate by every turnstile and I fit through that with no problem. That was the only turnstile I had a problem with.
Admittedly, I didn't try to go on R n' R Roller Coaster, and I've never tried Astro Orbiter, but I think I've been on virtually every other ride. Expedition Everest has a sample vehicle near the shop that your daughter can discreetly try out to see if the lap bar will come down far enough to lock.
The one thing to keep in mind with your daughter is that for two person seating, she will probably need her own seat. Even if a smaller person could fit with her, it would be a problem because the lap bars will stop at your daughter's thighs or belly and may have too much wiggle room for a smaller person sitting next to her. I've never had to ask cast members to accommodate that, they have just always automatically given me my own seat. If you are afraid they might try to smoosh someone else in with her, when you are asked "How many?", you can say "2 and 1" if there are three in your party, for example. This tells the Cast Member you will actually need a separate seat for someone.
On a personal note, I highly recommend that your daughter bring a pair of knee length "bicycle shorts" or the equivalent unless she intends to wear trousers throughout your trip. All the walking gave me chafing blisters that actually began to bleed after five days.
Your daughter will have a blast at WDW! Hope to hear all about it on your return.

Another handy tip is to put deoderant or rub some petroleum jelly on your inner thighs to help prevent chaffing.
As you can tell from the profile pic I am def "Pooh Sized". I'm 5'7" and 325lbs on a good day. The only ride I had issues getting in and out of was Space Mountain because there's no room to pull your legs up to get leverage to push yourself up. BUT, I heard the refurb that they are doing this year will make the cars easier to get in and out of for everyone. Keeping fingers crossed.
I was otherwise able to ride everything without issues including EE.

.
I second that, due to knee problems I had a problem getting out of the SM rockets and had to use my wrists/arms to lift myself out of the rocket. I do hope they refurb with the same type of rockets they have had Disneyland.
We just got back from our trip and I was soooo worried about not fitting on the rides. I rode it all without any trouble. I weigh about 275 pounds and have a large chest. My clothes size is 24 pants and 2X to 3X tops. I hope this will relieve others anxiety. Go have fun!!!
was also worried...have actually been dieting/working out to be able to handle the exertion of six whole days of non-stop Disney fun with the kids! thanks all for the reassurance!

I'm sure I'm Pooh sized, I'm 5'10" and about 270. Most of my fat is in my belly, not sure how I managed that. I'm rather... round. lol I fit in the rides at Disneyland a couple of years ago, the only trouble being the Tea Cups. I could sit, but turning the wheel rubbed my legs as I had to put one on each side. I'm on my own for this trip, so I may skip them anyway.
Space Mountain at DL has been refurbished and I had no trouble getting in or out, so if DW is going to be the same, it should be okay.

Space Mountain in Disneyland is a delight. I do hope that WDW's SM rehab includes the same rockets as DL. It isn't as much size for me as it is an agility and knee problem. I can get in, but I can't get out -- without a lot of effort.
Ok, we just got back and DH is about 6'1 and 400lbs and he fir on all major rides with room including Tower of Terror, R&R rollercoaster, Dinosaur, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mtn.Railroad, Everest...so no problem!
Thanks for all the good advice!!! I am going in October and was a little worried about this and had just resigned myself to not riding.... now I will!!!!
Hello everyone,
This will be my first trip to disney with my family. I have been so worried about not fitting on the rides that I have been trying to come up with ways for us not to go. Making up excuses, so I didn't have to face the fact that I wouldn't fit or couldn't walk without being out of breath.
A friend of fine told me about this message board and I am soooo happy she did. I guess I am "pooh" sized too lol. Reading all of the messages on here I see I am not alone. This site has alleviated so much of my fear. Thanks to all of you I am not afraid to go and I am actually excited about going now.
We are going the first week of January and it is a Christmas present to my children. They will be so excited and I will be too. Now I can look forward to making wonderful memories. Thanks!
