Just Me and My Girl ~ May 29-June 2, 2012 - Page 12 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Your room at the Lodge is beautiful! I love a Bay Lake View. I won't divulge the surprise, but from the view I'll bet I know what you can see from your room! Too bad about the rain, but glad you made it to tea on time. I always get the Buckingham Palace with the strawberries, but I choose the Garden View Blend tea. I should be daring and try something else next time.
Thanks Laurie! We really liked the room and views. I had one exception but I will reveal that later either in final thoughts or when it actually occured. Oh and I am pretty sure you do know what else we can see from our room...
The teas we chose that day were specialty teas, not normally on the menu if I am remembering correctly. I think there were about 5 featured/specialty teas. Laurie, you should try something new. I'm sure if it's not to your liking they will bring you the ol' stand by.

The view was spectacular! And being able to see the Geyser was an added bonus. Tea was great and probably even better since we were a rain soaked and cool from the AC. Just wait though Cheryl, that wasn't the end of our friend the rain.

Thanks Jodi. The rain was pretty bad, atleast driving through it was. And tea was wonderful, definitely hit the spot on a day like that.

It was a great room with one little exception but it was only one occurance so not a real big deal. I the Wilderness Lodge too. It's a very pretty hotel from the architecture to the landscaping.
Tammy, I noticed you have N. CA as where you are from. My DH was born in Santa Cruz. He says N. CA is beautiful from the coast to the mountains. I hope to be able to see it one day with my own eyes.

Me too Kelly, I wished you could have joined us! We had a great time and Steph wants to go everytime now. Tea has officially joined the "have to" list.
I wish y'all could have made it over, I think the boys would have loved that beach where they showed the movies. Plus the pool is pretty too. And if y'all had been there at night.... well you'll just have to read about it.

so much. So far we have had good luck with check-in. Oops I hope I didn't juxt jinx myself The view was pretty .
WCC is a fun place to eat and the food's delicious. It's alot of food though if you do family style. The lobby of the WL is breathtaking and so is most of the landscaping. Make sure to bring your camera!

Tea was the way to go after that rain storm. We were pretty soaked so the warmth of the tea was nice.

I'm glad you guys made it safely to WDW with those crazy storms! That must have been one scary drive. Your room looks beautiful, I hope to stay at WL someday!
It was a scary drive. I think I had white knuckles for most of the trip! I hope y'all get a chance to stay there too one day.

I am working on resizing the pics for the next update so it should be up sometime over the weekend. For now I just wanted to share some semi-exciting news.
The Lion King ~ Musical is touring and making a stop here in Houston during July and August. My DMom calls me on Monday and asks if I want to go see it. Um yeah! Never have seen the live production and I am really excited to get the chance. Can't wait! So
If anyone has seen the Broadway production could y'all share your thoughts on it??
How exciting! I saw the Lion King on Broadway years and years ago, so I don't remember a lot of the details. I do remember loving it though! The costumes and puppetry were all amazing, I really hope that you like it!
I saw LK in NYC years ago. I loved the opening when all the animals come out but was disappointed with the rest. I think there was so much hype when it opened. My SIL felt the same way. We both liked it but she said "I was expecting to be dazzled". I sort of thought the same thing the first time I saw FOLK show in AK. I did however go back as see that show in October and it was way better than I remember it.
Now I don't mean to put a damper on things. Lion King is not my favorite movie. I like it alright but like others better. I think if you go with an open mind and try not to "expect" anything then you will really enjoy it. If you set your expectations to be OMG this will be the greatest show ever - you may find yourself disappointed like I was.
All that being said, whenever the LK tours Philly, Evan and I will be going to see it. - Have fun!!!
The view from you room is great! It's the perfect balcony to enjoy breakfast on. Tea looked wonderful as usual, and the next time I go I'm going to try the Nobo Whole Fruit since I always hear good things about that one.
I have seen it on Broadway and in another city - so twice have been and LOVED it both times!!!!!! I was lucky enough to have Whoopie Goldberg make a special apprearance when I saw it in NYC - she actually participated in the show! And of course, added a few of her own little words, actions, etc! It was great!!! You will enjoy it!

I've seen Lion King on Broadway three times now. Loved it each time, especially because I had a different one of my kids with me each time an their reactions were priceless. Sit back, relax and enjoy the show. You will be delighted!

Just got caught up, Shelley! You have definitely had issues with rain so far. Your room looks beautiful and the view is terrific. The tea looked delicious!

I'm excited to see it. I was in theater in HS so I am interested in all the different aspects of live shows. I've heard many good things about the visual effects.

Holly, you aren't putting a damper on anything. I respect your opinion and thank you for sharing how you feel. I can understand how hype build up around things can really put a downer on it. I didn't go see Ghostbusters when it came out because I was disgusted with how much hoopla surrounded its release. I like the movie now but still don't see what all the jazz was about.

Thanks Melissa. The view from the balcony was nice but it was too hot and humid to enjoy breakfast on. Now maybe in the Fall/Spring months.
Steph the Nobo Whole Fruit and I will admit, it was tastier than the one I chose. Definitely try it on your next trip.

Okay, now I'm jealous. To have Whoopie Goldberg there would have been awesome! How !

I will heed the ~not to be late~ advice! I definitely don't want to miss anything. The run begins July 10th and ends early August so I guess they are headed your way after here.

Thanks Cam. We have had issues with rain and just wait, it isn't over quite yet. The room was very comfortable and we had a spectacular view. Tea was just what we needed after that drive and more rain.
