Saving the Magic (with Cam and Luke plus Morgan) COMPLETED - Page 12 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great update! Love your room and the wonderful view!
You can't help but smile at Morgan's pictures and see the delight in her face as she experiences everything! So wonderful to see. I think it makes us love WDW even more when we see the love of it through children's eyes. I know it is why we love bringing our son there and our enjoyment of it is just a bonus!
So glad you started your TR, Cam. Love Morgan's excitement. Your pics of your view are beautiful. Especially love the one of Sea Breeze Point. My oldest son is getting married there in September.
All caught up now...
I love the view from your room - I hope we can stay there on our next trip.
Morgan is adorable! It's so great that you were able to share this amazing experience with her, even though I know it was difficult for you and Luke.
It was definitely harder for you to write your TR than for us to read it, but I had stop stop a few times to "get it together" while reading it. You are so strong!
Holy Cannoli!! Page 12 already! That's what I get for neglecting the boards for a couple of days! So glad you started your TR, Cam. The report by itself is incredibly detailed, but it's the photos that make the report for me. Loved the look on Morgan's face as she takes in each new experience. But anyone looking at the first day pictures could believe the skies were always that blue at WDW. Too bad that wasn't true for most of that following week.
Glad you made it to your resort safe and sound. I really do believe that some people leave their brains at home when they go on vacation! I love seeing everything for the first time through Morgan's eyes!!!
WOW...what a beautiful room and the view is fantastic!! Morgan looks so excited!
I recognized that picture from the airport and remembered Travis' first time riding it after getting off the plane. He asked, "Is this what that thing you call the "monorail" at Disney feels like??"
Someday when I can stay more than 5 nights, I may have to stay at the villas.
Can't wait to hear about the parks!!
Thanks for posting pictures of your room. I always wondered what the Boardwalk rooms looked like . That is a great view off the living room. Morgan looks so happy to be at Disney World.
Liz
What a gorgeous view! Did you book the boardwalk view? Or just get lucky? We're staying there in a couple months and I can't wait! And I want to steal that lamp - reminds me of Alice in Wonderland.
We booked a Boardwalk view as that is what Stefanie wanted, and I'm really glad we did as it made the room extra special. I thought the same thing about the lamp.

so much for continuing to think of us and to pray for us.

She was so in awe, which made coming into our first room without Stefanie easier.

No trip to Hawaii in the foreseeable future, just started working on Luke so that it might happen a some point in time. We'll definitely be back next June as my sister June, her DH John, Morgan, and John Paul are already booked to go with us.

We really enjoyed our stay and I'll have more to say as I write about other days.

I love all of the great pictures of Morgan, Luke and you! And your room was beautiful with such a magnificent view!
When Allen and I have talked about going to Hawaii, I told him that we would need to stop in CA for a day or two to break up the fight time. Of course he understood that meant a trip to DL! So, it sounds like you have the same idea!
You know that I will read every word of your trip report!! And I will probably be shedding some tears along the way.....but with every thought, with every word you share my friend, I am with you!
The day we left was so hard for me. I miss you and I just want to be there for you!
But, I know that Stefanie's spirit is always with you!!! Your strength and your smile tells me so!
Looking forward to Saving the Magic!
We definitely think alike. You were such an important part of this trip for me and Luke. I miss you as soon as you all left, but I just know we'll keep seeing and talking with each other for years to come.

Your view was spectacular! Could you see SE from your balcony or other locations at the BW? We like to stay at the Beach Club, but might have to travel across the lake. As I watched Morgan look up in the lobby and scrolled to the next frame, I suddenly expected to see Stefanie (brought tears to my eyes.) Thank you for sharing your TR with us. Continued and
Great update Cam, Boardwalk Villas are absolutely beautiful, I am definitely putting it on my resort list to stay at someday. I just love the expression of Morgan's face when she looks at things and places for the first time, totally priceless.
We will definitely stay here again.

My sister jokes that her kids look more like me than her as she has dark brown hair and both her kids have light brown to blonde like me. I tell her it was her way of thanking me for being such an awesome big sister.

I can't believe she carried it either. About the only times she gave it up was when you carried it for her.

Second, I can imagine the shock of everyone on the bus when that clown made a crazy move like that. Third, I was laughing, no, CRACKING UP; when Morgan was using the lint brush. Something about that just reminds me of my daughter Charlie. I guess 'cuz I kinda picture Charlie doing the same.
Fourth, that is a very nice room; and the view is really nice and looks like a place I would want to visit and just plant my butt on the balcony and people watch while sipping down a cold Pepsi. Fifth, that poor child, that poor poor child. How dare she miss out on junk food.
Sixth, a tip of my hat to ya ma'am, for having the courage and strength to face such a challenge of making this trip without Stephanie. You ma'am are a stronger person than I will ever be. Thank you for sharing with us.
Charlie, thank you so much for all your kind words! I truly appreciate them.

Your "home" is an excellent place to stay. Without our pixie and then without Morgan, I'm pretty sure this trip would have been impossible.

I LOVE Morgan's face as she checks everything out - she could be in a commercial
Thanks for the update - though the wait time to get to the park doesn't sound very promising!
It isn't very promising, but it made for some interesting conversation between Morgan and me.

The room and view are simply gorgeous....I love that whole area! A few trips back, we stayed at BWI and Izzy unfortunately had pneumonia...(and a broken toe). There was about 48 hours we stayed in the room but it was great to have a view and look out in the afternoon and evening at the entertainment.
Hope you make it to the parks sooner rather than later....
Danielle
The view and entertainment at BWI definitely make it a wonderful resort.
Wow. . .your "digs" are amazing!! I am in love with the BC, but maybe I need to consider the other side of the lake! What a view. . .
Sounds like you have had a great start (minus the clueless driver). I can't wait to read more!
We love the BC, too, but BWI is very nice as well.

Hope you didn't have to wait too long to have some fun in the parks!
I would definitely recommend the Boardwalk. I stay there was very enjoyable.

Oh, I love the bus driver advice to carry our brains with us throughout our vacation. How funny...and true.
He was a very sweet and thoughtful man. As I gave him a tip, I thanked him for being so protective of us.

(and keeping my fingers crossed you get Luke talked into Hawaii and DL. We loved it and that stop really DOES make the trip more 'doable')
BWI had been rather low on my must do list of DVC resorts, but all last June, Stefanie kept saying we had to stay there. I wish she could have been there to see that she made a wonderful choice.
