Castaway Cay Sandwich - 13 Glorious Days of Disney! - COMPLETED!! - Page 12 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Welcome! We're happy you've found the PassPorter Community -- the friendliest place to plan your vacation to Walt Disney World, Disney Cruise Line, Disneyland, and the world in general! Your lunch at Kona looks delicious. Sorry it wasn't for everyone. Sorry to hear Titus is feeling well. The party sounds like it is off to a good start!
Hi there! New to your trip report and I have to say, I am LOVING it!! I want to have a Castaway Cay sandwich trip! Can't wait to see how leg 2 of WDW continues.
I also always laugh out loud on the jungle cruise! Right up my alley. Sorry kona cafe wasn't a bigger hit but seems like a great start to your party night so far!
We all usually love Kona, but this time, it was just Dh and I. Well everyone loved the wings!

It was a really great night, low crowds and wait times

Continued...
She's one bad mamma jamma!
After we left Prince Eric's Castle, we got some more candy and rode the Barnstormer - it's so cute! There is so much theme and detail going on there . I snapped these while on the ride:
It was time to stake out a spot for Wishes, er "Hallowishes" that is It didn't seem terribly crowded in the park, but it sure was packed in the hub! We ended up in the back of the hub across the street, sitting on the curb. The pre-show was fantastic and I tried really hard to hold my phone steady, but I was oohing and ahhhing a lot!
The fireworks were amazing! (The last shots here are of me trying to get a "panoramic" view of all the explosions going off around us.)
Amazing.
After being bedazzled by HalloWishes, we headed over to Liberty Square. Being spooked by the Haunted Mansion seemed appropriate. There was a wait, but I can't remember it being too long.
We had waited too long to stake out a good spot for the Boo to You Parade, so we ended up on the raised platform where the stocks are It was good for us because we could sit, and by this time, Titus was getting tired. He's a night owl, so I knew it was only because he was coming down with a cold. The platform gave us a great vantage point, but I still got bad pictures, sorry. I had been waiting so long for this parade and I was very excited.
(I took "burst" photos of this, so when I scroll through them, it looks like a stop motion video, and he's "moving" )
The gravediggers! My favorite part of the whole parade
I only noticed Bowler Hat Guy when I uploaded this to photobucket!
Great parade! I think the Boo to You song was in our heads for a long time after it was over The night was still young (11pm) and there was only a 10 minute wait for BTMRR so we headed there. It was really only 10 minutes because the queue was so long, it was practically a walk on.
In line for more goodies...
We were pretty hungry by now, but we wanted somewhere to sit and eat. The best option for us was Casey's Corner - mini corndogs sounded good right about then.
If you've seen the movie "Avengers" and watched it all the way to the scene at the end of the credits, then you know what I mean by, "This was our 'Shawarma Platter' moment". After conquering the Magic Kingdom and Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, we were totally done, toast and through. Shawarma.
Shawarma (I can't post the whole scene. Mom and Dad look pretty bad.)
We left the party with people still having fun. Walk. Bus. Trudge. Brush teeth. Face plant. Goodnight.
Great fun to end the party for you guys. I get goosebumps the second I realize the grave diggers are nearby. them! I finally bought the CD with "Boo to You" because that song just makes me happy. Your night ended much as our MNSSHP night ended. Done in, but happy!
Glad the boys enjoyed the surprise that the vacation wasn't over yet! Love the pictures from the party! I can see why you'd all be exhausted! Dinner at Kona looked delish as well! What a great day!

That's a great day at Disney - "done in, but happy!"

I just knew the kids might have wanted to stay longer, but they were just as tired as we were!

I don't think they'll ever forget it!

Yes, and it was so humid still in September

Thanks! I know they're blurry, but I loved just carrying around my phone and not a big ol' camera like I usually do
Great pictures from you phone! The gravediggers are so cool! Sometime you have to see Hallowishes from the Top of the World Lounge at BLT; you can really see where all the fireworks are then.

Wow, that would be totally awesome...

Sept 13, 2014
After a luxurious sleep (waking up at 10am!), we were in for another great day in Disney World. We had a bite to eat in the room, then ventured out into the humid, Florida sunshine. Our destination was Animal Kingdom and we made it there by 12:45pm.
There was construction everywhere, but this is Disney's most beautiful park to me and I know new things are coming so I didn't mind.
We had FPs for Kilimanjaro Safaris so we walked over to Africa. (We'd already missed our FP window for Festival of the Lion King, but no worries.)
The posted wait for KS was only 10 minutes, but we used our FPs anyway Here's the dime tour:
We had enough time to make it to the next FOTLK show, so we walked over to the new theater. It was a very nice improvement over the previous place. We were in the giraffe section (again! "Baaa"...). The show hasn't changed and I found myself singing along with everyone else around us.
We had built up quite an appetite, and although I had always wanted to try Flame Tree Barbeque, we ended up at Pizzafari. It was just too hot and humid to sit outside and enjoy lunch There was no line, so that was a bonus.
Pepperoni and Sausage
Pepperoni
side Caesar salad
I had the Italian Sandwich (this was good)
Beso del Sol Sangria (this was really good!)
Dh gave me the "eye" when I went to take a shot of his lunch so I have no idea of what he had, lol.
One of the reasons why we love coming in September - practically no one here!
I'd never noticed this before when leaving out.
...or this. Wouldn't this be interesting in the garden?
This is one of my favorite places in Animal Kingdom
We had a FP for Expedition Everest that was going to run out soon so we went over there. Titus and I rode EE while Dh and Max hung out and waited for us. Dh got some very nice pics of Titus and I on the ride, but he has them on his phone. We got to ride again, using their FPs . My little daredevil rode with his hands up the whole time
More construction scrim
It was a good time to cool down, so we went over to Kali River Rapids. The last time we rode this it was freezing! This time it was appropriately hot. Our actual wait time was 9 minutes. I didn't get many pics last time because we walked right on, but I got some pretty good ones this time. I love this queue!
Dh had my phone and it was a good thing: WE GOT SOAKED.
Good times! We had been to AK many times and we'd never been on the Maharajah Jungle Trek. I was so excited to see the tigers!
The bats were really cool.
...aaanddd... no tigers. Of course.
Wait - there's one! (Squint your eyes.)
Although we were disappointed not to really see any tigers, it was a nice diversion with lovely scenery. We'll have to try it again next time
There was one more ride we wanted to get on and that was Primeval Whirl. I know it's not a big favorite, but me and the boys love it ! We headed to another favorite of mine: Dinoland.
They are so creative with the construction camouflage!
A time machine
Going down!
Ahhhhh.... that was a good day at AK! It had only been about 5 hours, but we got a lot out of it and had tons of fun. We left the park, hot and happy, and settled in for a bit of a wait for the bus to Boardwalk. I can't complain about waiting for free transportation, but when you're standing there after a hot day at the park, you REALLY wish they would come around faster!
Back home...
An hour and a half later... (and after some cold medicine)
My poor bubba was bushed! I was lucky to get him to eat and drink something while we watched some Despicable Me. The combo of being under the weather and a day at AK had knocked him out. We had some leftover pasta and garlic bread I'd made the night before while Dh and Max went to find something to eat. I cleaned up and did some laundry while they were out. When they came back, they told me they walked all around and couldn't find anything decent to eat and ended up with some snack of some kind They even walked over to the Beach Club to Beaches and Cream, but they couldn't get real food from the take out counter. (I would've told them they couldn't but they didn't ask...) They were disappointed but tired and just came back to the room. I went out later to the gift shop to get some more cold medicine and something for them to eat, but all the snacks and drinks in there seemed really expensive - especially because there's nowhere else to get snacks and sundries. I understand Disney is a business, but it seemed like they could have had a little mercy on basic grocery items. Not to worry, I'll just plan ahead better for next time. We didn't want to have extra food left to throw away, but it would've been worth it this time.
