An Animal Kingdom State of Being with Cam and Fam COMPLETED 9/18 - Page 113 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great Star Wars pictures - like a private parade just for Luke.
I Love Luke's shirt - I have the same one, so does Evan. We wore them to see Cars 2 and will be coming with us on our Oct trip. I actually wore mine this weekend and Evan had to run into his room to change. Then we had to match our shorts and shoes too.

We are looking forward to the new Pixar parade this year. Love the picture of Superhero Stef!! And Luke certainly got some great shots of all of the SW characters! Looked like he was paparazzi on a SW red carpet.
I forgot to comment on Luke's handling of the tour group at Fantasmic! Between his "security officer" stance and your "teacher's look", you two have it all covered!

We haven't seen the Pixar Parade yet. It looks very cute! Though we'd probably end up doing the same thing you did - just happen upon it and decide to stand and watch.
The Granny Gangster sounds hilarious. How did you keep a straight face?!
It must have been scary with the tour group jumping the bleachers while trying to exit Fantasmic. Glad Luke put a stop to it.
Seeing how i'm a new member to this site I did not know what a TR was. Now I know I thoroughly enjoyed reading about your trip. i was engaged whie reading about your trip i really wished i could spend up time so i would be able to go on my WDW trip with my son and be able to write about it as well.
Great pics as always! That sure was a huge cast for the Star Wars show! Luke Skywalker looked a lot like Mark Hamill!
We couldn't believe how many there were as they just kept coming! So cool to be in the right place at the right time!

Glad you got to enjoy Fantasmic and that you were able to get onto TSMM one more time before heading out in the crowds. I totally agree with you on waiting for a bus to sit on, I have knee issues and on our 1st night we stood on a bus and suddenly something felt wrong...woke up with my knee three times bigger then it should have been, we opted on trying to wait out a seat for the remainder of our days.
That was the same strategy we followed from here out. If we could wait, we would. I felt a little bad a few times when neither Luke and I would give up our seats, but between my knee and his broken toe, we were the walking wounded.

I thought the Luke and Leia were very authentic looking and they were the sweetest with Stefanie.
Sorry about the wait at Mama's, but at least you were able to go see Muppets during the wait! Carly and I actually went in to Mama's around 6 just to see if they had anything available. They told us to come back around 8. We never did go back! (I hardly ever try to just walk up and get in, but we thought it was worth a try! )
All of the Star War pictures are great! I have some very similar ones!
I just Fantasmic! We went to the second show that night. There were plenty of seats left over on the far left side.
It was fun to see you guys at the bus stop!
We really didn't mind waiting for dinner as 4:20 seemed a bit early, but that was the only ADR available with the Fantasmic package for that night. So the delay worked out to be more where I had wanted dinner in the first place. And we love Muppet Vision 3D.

Luke is one of the most pleasant people, never letting much (not even pain) get him down.

Another great day! I love the Pixar parade pics! I'm going to have to look for this when we go - I want to find Dug from Up!. And I love Stephanie's rationalization - "You have to - we are at Disney!" Makes perfect sense!
We met Dug the summer the movie had come out at the theaters. He was so much fun! Hope you meet him!

She wasn't even prompted to pose this time! She raised that little arm and fist and I shouted, "Way to go!"

This was a very Magical day!!! Luke really managed some great shots of most of the Star Wars Charaters. Love the pictures of Stephanie and the Incredibles too. Nice scores in Toy Mania!!!
We were lucky to have magic every single day!

We have been to SWW weekends since 2003 and the crowds have grown over the years. We have had some exceptionally crowded days, but usually the early in the schedule that you go the less crowded it is. The last Sunday can sometimes be very crowded, though it was not this year.

Luke and I remembered most of them, but the CM at the pin shop knew them all and helped us.

We have loved Star Wars since the first movie (now the 4th in the series) came out in the 70s. In fact we got premiere tickets to an early showing of the second (now 5th) movie to a theater in the town where we went to college. We got to see it several days before it opened nationwide.
All caught up! What a fun morning at the pool!
Looks like you all had a great day at DHS!
It was!

Love the SWW shots! We'll be doing that again next year!
I might just borrow that idea, but combined all his cool building shots.

I the photo of Stefanie with Frozone and Mr. Incredible. So cute!
We haven't seen Fantasmic in a long while either (2006). It just wasn't my favorite, but, then again, I was dealing with a fussy 2 year old at the time, so maybe that's why. We'll have to give it a try again soon.
You all should definitely give Fantasmic another try. Stefanie loves it!

I think I hollered there's Bobba Fett! But I wasn't the only one calling out names. One thing that amazed me was that folks formed a lined path and did really crowd the characters with very little CM interference.

He was actually hoping to see Lightning in LMA, but we missed the show. Later we learned that Lightning's appearance had been postponed so we didn't miss him after all.

He said he felt like paparazzi, especially with me trying to name everyone as they appeared.

He really did save quite a few kids both in the tour group and walking toward the aisle from colliding. Scary for a few moments!

They were literally running and hopping up the bleachers as fast they could go right toward some other families with small children like us who had waited for the crowd to think out. I'm not even sure where they came from as they had not been in the front of our section and just seemed to appear as we started across the row.

I've still got several more days to add, but I've found this is a wonderful way to relive our vacation and then to preserve the memory for my family. for reading along!
Let's give Mike a chance to guess and then I'll let you know, though if you're in a hurry, google Star Wars Christmas album. We bought this album/LP in 1980, the year before we got married, to begin our extension Christmas album collection.
