As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

You handled that Wishes situation with such class! I don't blame you one bit for speaking up - - some people just don't get it and you helped her see the light without having to pop her one.
I just love 'Ohana and was so glad that you had a good experience! How was the wasabi bloody mary? The lapu lapu sounded pretty strong!

Some people just float through life in their own bubble never giving anyone else a thought. Now are we talking morning EMH or evening EMH? If DH were hosed, I think BED would be the best place.

How was the wasabi bloody mary?
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh, my! Here's how good this thing was. When I took a drink of Grumpy's Lapu Lapu I knocked over my wasabi bloody mary with his huge pineapple as I passed it back to him. I spilled about 1/3 of my bloody mary on the empty seat next to me and it took every bit of self control I had not to drop to my knees and suck it out of the uphoistery. It was that good.

Re: Nala & pride + one tour WDW \"Day 6 part 3\" EMK at MK!
After we boarded the Monorail we started talking about going to EMH at MK. Grumpy was just not up for it so I decided to take the kids and let him go back to the cabin and sleep off the loopy loopy. He then handed me the golf cart key stating he would take the bus rather than drive the cart. Good idea. I would hate for him to get a DUI on a golf cart at WDW. I kissed him good bye at the MK stop and the three of us headed down the ramp to the MK. Just as we were about to turn and head to the gate I heard a voice behind me say “Hi kids”. It was Grumpy. For a moment I thought he changed his mind and decided to come with us but instead he had decided to take the boat from the MK back to FW. We said another good bye and parted ways.
As we approached the gate there was NO ONE at the front entrance except one lone CM. She didn’t even check for resort ID’s as we inserted our tickets into the turnstile. It was about 7:40 and the MK had officially closed at 7:00. I assumed that there would have been someone with wristbands near the front gate but saw nothing nor were we directed anywhere by the CM we had passed. So down Main Street we headed. And it was deserted. WOOOHOOO, the whole park to ourselves. I quietly whispered to Peter Pan that we had to avoid Fantasyland at all cost. I wanted to use this time to get Kiara and him on other rides that they had not done yet and if she saw the carrousel the chances of that happening would be slim. So we headed to Tomorrowland. OK, so I had finally wised up and made it a point to take Kiara for a bathroom break before we got into any lines. After that we moved on to conquer new territory for all three of us. Buzz Lightyear!
We found our way to an incredible short line and as we started to go in the CM at the entrance looked down at our wrists. No wristbands. I told her we didn’t have them and no one gave us one at the gate. She said “Oh, it’s not problem, go on ahead and enjoy the ride”. She was a dear sweet young lady but I don’t think she understood all the details about EMH as we would soon find out. We headed into the line and of course Kiara tried to pull her trick. Not this time, kiddo. I knew this ride was something she would enjoy from what I had read so once again I pushed her on. We had a blast on this ride! We put Kiara in the middle and I shared one gun with her. She was having a ball shooting aliens and spinning the car at the same time. Both Peter Pan and I were taking turns fighting her for the spin controller and trying to shoot at the same time. She was enjoying spinning the car way too much and we all were laughing and screaming through the whole ride. Oh what fun! Kiara gave this one a big two thumbs up and was ready to go again.
I made the decision to try something I hadn’t done in years. The WEDway. I cannot remember when I was last on this and was not entirely sure if I ever had been on it. We walked to the entrance and were stopped by the CM. She asked to see our wristbands. I explained we didn’t have them and no one was giving them out at the gate. She then informed me that this was a closed event and if we didn’t have a wrist band we were not suppose to be there. I told her we were resort guest and she then told me that just because we were staying on property didn’t mean we were allow to be in the park as this was a hard ticket event ??????? I responded with “Hard ticket event? As in E-ticket or MNSSHP?” She replied with a very snotty yes and told us we could go on the ride but needed to leave the park or go to City Hall after words to see if indeed we had the right to be there. Oh really? I was really too tired to educate her about EMH (hey, that’s Disney’s job) so off we went to the deserted WEDway. What a cool ride. And as we went along I began to remember parts of it. So I had been on it. Peter Pan thought this was a neat ride. It would be a nice ride to take a short break and relax at a time when the crowds were heavy in the parks. But tonight we didn’t have to worry about crowds.
When we got off the ride we made a bee line for City Hall to secure wristbands so we didn’t’ have to go through the previous escapade. The place was like a ghost town except for three CM behind the counter. I explained how we came through the gate and didn’t see anyone with wristbands and had been told by a CM to get them or leave the park. One of the CM’s looked at me like I was nuts and insisted that there was someone at the gate who should have given us a band. He was however quick to get us the bands, apologize for our inconvenience and the three of them wished us an enjoyable evening. So now we were official.
So Peter Pan and I had to form a plan. How to get to Peter Pan’s flight with out Kiara seeing the carrousel. Attack from the back. We would make our way to Fantasyland through Liberty Square. If the two of us could block Kiara’s view we might be able to make it on to Peter Pan’s flight without her seeing the carrousel. Peter Pan put his excellent skills as a hockey goalie to use and blocked Kiara’s view like it was the net! We made it to the line to find about 25 people in front of us. While it moved quickly we still had time to find a HM in one of the trees painted on the wall right before you board the ship. And once again the kids both enjoyed our flight.
We exited Fantasyland via the way we had come and stopped on Main Street for me to make a pathetic attempt at night shots of the castle.
Nice shot, huh?
So now I know. Set the camera down on something to steady it! We were starting to get tired but decided to hit Buzz one more time before we left so off we went to Tomorrowland once again. And once again we were greeted by the sweet CM who we showed our wristbands. And once again she said we didn’t need them??????? Oh well, she may have been as misinformed as the other CM but at least she was nice. This time I took the middle and gave the kids their own guns. This ride was even more fun the second time around and I think Peter Pan even scored over 10,000 points. But of course being the ornery mom/aunt I am I couldn’t resist spinning the car at the wrong moment causing them to miss shots. Peter Pan was yelling at me to stop and yet again we were all laughing our heads off.
As we walked down Main Street to the exit I was once again struck by how deserted the place was. I set the pace with the kids and walked very slowly so I could enjoy the moment as it was a rare one. It had been a truly magical evening. We boarded the boat to FTW, loaded up on the golf cart and made our way back to our cozy cabin. As we pulled up to it I fully expected to find Grumpy sound asleep. As we got to the door I noticed it was cracked open and could hear the TV. I opened the door and found Grumpy sitting on the couch smoking a cigar! He saw my surprised look and told me he decided to WALK to the cabin instead of taking the bus. The long walk (about a mile) and the fresh air did him a world of good and he was able to shake off the effects of the loopy loopy. He then told me he had stopped at the Trading Post to buy the cigar and I needed to call the front desk as we had reached our charging limit on our room key. He also told me he busted out laughing at the Trading Post when the CM told him this. The CM asked him what he was laughing about and he explained that his wife was at the MK with the kids and if she tried to buy anything she wouldn’t be able to. I showed him my empty hands and assured him that I had behaved in a financially responsible way the entire evening. (not that he would really care if I did spend money) We both got a good laugh out of it. The kids (well mostly Peter Pan) gave Grumpy a run down of what we had done at MK and Kiara made it very clear that Buzz was her new favorite ride. We decided that we would have to put it on our must do list for our last day at WDW that we planned to spend in MK.
It took little effort to get the kids to bed. They fell asleep to the Disney bedtime stories on TV and I hope memories of a very wonderful, magical day. Grumpy and I relaxed together and watched TV. After about an hour, he made the ritual check for Larry and turned in. I was really beginning to think we had seen the last of our little lizard pal. I was not far behind him (Grumpy, not Larry) and turned in also to prepare for our next day at AK!
Up next AK by day and by NIGHT!!!!

What a great EMH at MK - - despite the fact that those CM's need to get their stories straight!
I haven't been on Buzz yet and can't wait to take DD. I know that she is going to love it from your description!
