Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

What really happened:

A little background
When we first met our Dear New Friends, from now on known as “DNF”, they had told us of their plans to spend a few days down at Vero Beach. They were due to checkout of the WLV on Wednesday. With Frances on its way, the DVC rep suggested changing plans. DNF decided to stay in Orlando, so they were switching to the Broadwalk Villas for the remainder of their vacation.

Back to the present day
My wake-up call was a little more appreciated this morning, although I didn’t exactly jump out of bed. Last night I had pondered the thought of doing some this morning since our DNF were going to be busy packing, going for a grocery run and then checking into the BWV. "Pondered" was the operative word here , so I lounged in bed giving Joey some more sleep time before calling DNF. At 10:30, Dusty beats us to it . Heidi got on the phone and asked if we could possibly meet them at BWV since they still hadn’t checked out of WLV. It was a little out of our way, but I agreed. Joey and I hurried to get ready and I packed what we’d need for a day at the beach. It took a while for the MGM bus to arrive(the shortest route I thought without cabbing it) and not a minute after boarding Dusty calls with a change of plans. It seems that it was raining at the beach they had planned to go to. Uh Oh! Would we mind hanging out at the BW pool and then heading to DisneyQuest later on. We were okay with that, especially since I had out DQ tickets in my bag!
At MGM Joey and I made a run for the boat dock as there was one already there. We got off at the first stop, Swan & Dolphin resorts, and walked towards the BW. I made an error in thinking it easier to get into the resort on the MGM walkway side, but it took us forever. Once we entered, by the quiet pool, it felt like we had walked around in circles, before reaching their room. The hallways seemed very confusing to me, but we finally made it. The room was cute although a tad small. The big benefits were the microwave, cabinets and fridge at your disposal. Heidi was out on the balcony making a phone call, while Troy was out doing some laundry. The kids were catching up on the events form the previous 16 hours that they had been separated! I thought we were waiting for Troy to return, but got a completely unexpected explanation when Heidi came back inside from her call.
It seems that she had been keeping track of Frances since last night and was getting more and more nervous. She’d spent the last few hours on the phone with Northwest Airlines. They had not yet started waiving fees for changing flights out of Orlando and Heidi had finally gotten a supervisor to approve a change with free of charge. DNF were originally staying until Monday 9/6 and now they were booked on the 5:30p.m flight leaving tonight. It was almost 1:00p.m now and they had to start heading to MCO at 3:30p.m! Yikes!
Heidi apologized profusely for making us change our plans for the day and then abandoning us. Both Joey and I were disappointed because we didn’t want them to leave , but we understood, or at least I did!
Lunch consisted of sandwiches, chips and juice that DNF had just bought, then they gave me all of the extra food they had. Wasn’t that sweet and generous? This included coldcuts, 2 kinds of bread, bottles of water, juice milk and even some Starbuck’s Frapuccinos! Troy offered to drive me to POR with the packages while the kids spent some time at “Luna Pool” and Heidi finished packing the clean clothes they’d just washed. We hurried to take everything back to my home then I’d return to pick up Joey. I now had no choice but to get a fridge for all the perishables we had, so as soon as I walked into the room I ordered one from mousekeeping. Troy went to fill my cooler with ice to store everything, because we couldn’t wait for the fridge. While he was out of the room I changed out of my swimsuit and into some comfy clothes. I also packed a change of clothes for Joey and switched from the disposable waterproof camera to my digital. That’s why there are no pictures in this installment. I also brought a big baggie for Joey’s wet swimsuit. Smart, huh?
We made it back to BWV at 3:10 and didn’t bother to call for bell services, but each grabbed a rolling suitcase and walked out to the car. We all said our goodbyes, Heidi apologizing again and promised to keep in touch.
(We’ve kept our promise and they have since invited us to visit them in Colorado for spring break! )

Coming up- Day 4, part 2 - Does sadness prevail and who’s my new buddy?

Lynn, to take a much joked about NY line, "Fuggedaboudit"!
It's expensive! They live closer to Vail than Denver and 2 RT tickets for spring break are over $1000! Thank goodness they don't mind driving to Denver to pick us up or else it would be a no go!
I hope to get the rest of day 4 up tonight. Stay tuned for more pictures , too!

That's so sad that DNF had to leave. Darn these hurricanes.
I'm looking forward to the next installment. I'm hoping that Joey wasn't too bummed out and that your remaining days were fabulous now that Joey's Disney-fied.
