Me, Muffin and the Oasis of the Seas!! - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Days 4 and 5. Falmouth, Jamaica and another day at sea!!
Today we dock in Falmouth, Jamaica at 10:00 AM. This will be a challenge for us but we are really hoping to sleep in a bit!! We will shower and get dressed for the day in our swimsuits and a change of clothes. We will grab breakfast and coffee and watch the ship dock. We have no agenda today but know what we want to do!!
A short walk from the pier is Margaritaville!! We went here once before and absolutely loved it so we are planning a return visit. Margaritaville in Jamaica is a whole complex that is wonderful!! Of course there is the restaurant, but more than that there is a pool, hot tub and swim up bar that is just so much fun!! We plan to swim, got to the swim up bar, listen to great music, have lunch, go in the hot tub and then swim some more!! Muffin is not a big margarita person but, as you all know, I am! I totally plan on making the margarita my drink of the day!! We also love the restaurant here as it is open air and we can always find something delicious on the menu!
After our adventures here, we will return to the ship and get ready for yet another hopefully delcious meal!!
Tonight we plan on eating at Chops Grille, which is the signature restaurant on RCCL. We have eaten at many Chops on many ships and have never once been disappointed!! Here is themenu:
There are plenty of choices on the menu for both of us so we will see what we feel like tonight but one thing I always order and love are the Gruyère Cheese Tater Tots !!
After dinner, we have the Headliner showtime tonight. We have no idea what this will be yet and it is usually hit or miss. We are always hoping for a hit!! Then!! We will be attending an event that we did once before and all I will say is that it is a secret!!
After Jamaica, we have another Sea Day. We have lots of fun stuff we'd like to do and will just go where the day takes us!! I plan to get my hair done again. We definitely plan to go to some activities and spend some time at the pool. Day 5 is the Men's International Belly Flop Competition and that is always fun!! We have a Wine Tasting at 2:30 PM. We have dinner at Izumi Hibachi tonight at 5:00 PM. We are very much looking forward to that!! Then we have a Stand Up Comedy show at 7:30 PM.
Next: Days 6 and 7. Cozumel, Mexico and our last day at sea!! .

Sounds like a great day and especially with the expansive Margaritaville, which sounds like so much fun! But, yet dangerous at the same time! I hope you don't get yourself into trouble here Tara! Great dinner planned at Chops as well!

A whole day drinking margaritas? Sign me up!
Sounds like a fun port day, and then of course sea days are always great!
Thanks, Colleen! I suspect the two of us would get into some trouble drinking margaritas all day!

That’s a risk I’d be willing to take. In related news, Mike just informed me that today is National Margarita Day - at least according to a local restaurant. (I really want a margarita emoji!)

I went out and peeked. February 22 IS National Margarita Day. The Internet would never lie

Day 6 and 7. Cozumel, Mexico and our last day at sea.
Cozumel is my favorite Western Caribbean port!! We are scheduled to arrive in port at 7 AM and we will have a nice breakfast and then head off the ship. We plan to catch a taxi to Chankanaab Park. We will spend the day here and there is plenty to do!! These are all of the attractions available:
Chankanaab Reef
Chankanaab Lagoon
Inlet Swimming Area
Underwater Statues
Botanical Garden
Eco-Arqueological Tour
Mayan House
Archaeological Prehispanic Replicas
Crocodile Exhibition
Sea Lion Show
Spa*
Clear Bottom Kayak Adventure*
Tequila Factory*
Snuba Seatrek*
Dolphin Discovery*
Manatees*
Zip Line*
There are also restaurants, snack bars, a beach, lockers and showers there!! We went here in 2010 and had an amazing time so we are really looking forward to going back!! It costs 21 bucks each for admission and is well worth the price!! If we want to do any of the starred items it costs extra but there is plenty to do that is included!! It reminds me alot of Discovery Cove!!
When we return to the ship, we have dinner scheduled at the Solarium Bistro at 5:30 PM. Then we have a show called Come Fly with Me at 8 PM.
On Day 7, we are planning to each get a massage. We will see the Frozen In Time Ice show at 3 PM and then have dinner at Vintages with some tapas and wine. We have another Stand Up Comedy Show scheduled at 10:30 PM.
Tomorrow we will have breakfast early and then wait for our luggage number to be called to disembark. We have a 1 PM flight home.
That concludes our plans for this cruise!!! I can't believe that we will be on the ship one week from tomorrow!!!!!
Sounds like some nice plans for your final days. Certainly a lot to do and chose from in that park! I enjoyed Cozumel when I was there and went to Playa Mia for the culinary workshop, which I enjoyed.
Just one short week now and bring on the poems!
