Living the dream and remembering the Bagman COMPLETED IN THIS FORUM - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Food at the restaurant looked great, although I feel some of the presentations and combos may be a bit off to my liking, but that's me!
not at all - I thought some of the combinations were a little odd, shall we say, and I hear you about the presentations too.

I would have loved to have tried the foie as I love the stuff, but only have it every few years and usually a memorable place to have it! Seems like a lot of dishes or a few with nuts as being a foodie, I'm not a big fan of nuts as when they are presented in dishes, it's not subtle as it should be but overwhelmed, which is not good!
I don't remember the dishes being overwhelmed by the taste of nuts, so that is something....

Sounds like a good day for your welcoming at Dave's and Rob's. So cool you were able to start your three week adventure here!
It was a great start to our adventure!

I'm a bit leery about your next post and wondering?
Sunday 11 September – part one: two things broken… and you’re hungover? Not a good start to the day!
I first asked what time it was about 3:30am, then drifted into a light sleep for the next hour. Eventually, about 4:45am, we decided to give up with sleeping and surface, and I got caught up on trip report for the next hour or so.
Finally, after Dave told us that they’re early risers and usually up by 6:00am (yeah, right!) we headed downstairs at 7:00am, only to see no sign of anyone else. We sorted a few things out with the cases, and tried to keep one of the cats away from – he seemed to love me, and given I’m apparently allergic to cats (I haven’t got near enough to one to find out how badly since the results of the tests eight years ago ), I didn’t think that was a good idea.
Eventually, Dave and Rob emerged, with Dave declaring himself hungover, which surprised us, given as far as we knew, he’d had a glass of wine last night with dinner, and a couple of glasses of spirits when he got back to the house, the same as me – and I was fine. We had said we’d start the tea ourselves, but we had no idea where anything was, and no wonder, the toaster and kettle were in the walk-in pantry in the kitchen. We’d never have looked there…
Disaster struck not long after the toast was put on, as apparently the toaster stopped working and then it got worse, the coffeemaker decided it didn’t want to know either. The next thing we knew Rob had the vacuum out, and was vacuuming out what we assume were coffee beans. We didn’t like to ask. We’re not coffee drinkers, so maybe we’re biased, but I figured it was a heck of a lot of work for one drink.
We enjoyed our breakfast, then headed out of the house to get down to Le Meridien hotel 10 minutes walk away to collect our rental car. Oh boy, it was still humid as we walked along, although at times, thank goodness there was a bit of breeze in the air. That felt good! We got some photos on the way…
We found the hotel easily enough, and it looked very nice…
We were directed to the car rental place next door, and for once, there was no hard sale, which was such a pleasant change. We did ask if there were any bigger cars, as we were a bit concerned about whether all our cases would fit in the boot (trunk), but they were all already assigned, so that wasn’t a goer. Oh well, we’ll just have to pray it goes..
We headed into the garage, found our car, and the boot did look pretty big, so fingers crossed, it would be good news when we got back to the house…
We set off, thankfully roughly knowing the way, as the GPS took a few moments to wake up…
Dave and Rob were waiting for us, and we loaded the car up, and thank goodness everything did fit, although it was a tight squeeze, and a fourth case would’ve sent us over the edge! We sadly said our goodbyes to them. We’d loved being able to spend the night with them, but it felt like far too little time.
We made our way out through Cambridge…
… and ended up going through Harvard Square, which we recognised from their wedding last year.
Then we were heading out – on to some wonderfully deserted highways! I like travelling on Sunday mornings…
The bar area looked so restful. You were fortunate to meet up with a coworker who is pleasant. I kept thinking what if it was someone that was boorish. Lol.
I have to go Google the resort, as I am having difficulty figuring out if it is a new place which was designed to appear old or an old place with newer areas.

What a fabulous visit with your friends. Their delighted was beautiful. A local property recently held an estate sale with a similar bed. I wish I had room in my house, as the price was only $300.00.
I thought the restaurant had the perfect name, consider ing your love for Eeyore.

Not everyone can handle their liquor like we can Cheryl! hahahaha....
It is a shame it was such a short visit with Dave and Rob. But it's better than nothing! Yes, peacefully quiet roads - and in and around Boston to boot! Score!

Oh trust me, I would've come up with some excuse to escape!

I think it's the latter, but I must admit I'm not 100% sure....
