As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sorry about the yucky bird encounter...can't believe some of the things that happen. Crazy! Thank goodness for the great maintenance man - I would not have wanted to deal with that bird remains.
As for Mission Space - good luck. Been on it once & i have sine rely blocked it out. As for everything you do for the boys - price of being a good hands on parent I suppose. If it makes you feel better, we are drawing straws to see who takes JB on the tea cups bc none of us like them or anything that spins. Lol
I can handle the tea cups - probably because it's out in the open? Spin rides have never really bothered me, just closed spaces (elevators are really tough) and heights.

So, I tried it and that is definitely so. I ride it regularly now. It is just as claustrophobic as the orange side though. Hopefully, Brian can do the green side with the boys and they will just have to forego the orange side. After all, they need to compromise as well.
hmmm...given that the older two felt sick after Star Tours, I'm thinking this might not be a great experience for them. I was fine with the motions of Star Tours, but had a mini panic attack when they closed the vehicle doors.

Sorry I've been AWOL from the boards....as we speed toward the end of the school year (28th for the boys, 29th for Brian and June 9 for me), I have a feeling life is going to continue at break-neck speed.
I'm home today with the youngest who started with allergies this past weekend, and somehow managed to get RSV with a double ear infection...and a burst ear drum. He's on his medicine now, and starting to act more like his usual self, so hopefully it's back to school for him tomorrow.
Work? It's been sort of calm. The "chillers" have been turned on, which is great since the past week we flirted with 90 degrees for 3 days straight. I love warm weather, but it seems like our "spring" gets shorter each year as we move from winter straight to summer.
Back to Disney talk
We are officially at 64 days out!!!!!! As I told Amy and Jenny this morning, it makes the trip seem really real now! On Sunday, I can do on-line check in and begin FP+ selections.

Woohoo almost online check in time!! Don't panic with FP+! I found that if you just pick on option that has the three you want then once you choose you can adjust the times to something that works better for you. I also found that if I found something close but not exactly what I wanted, I checked back a day or two later and would find a better time. Definitely a work in progress for sure.
I hope Cullen is feeling much better and able to go to school tomorrow. As Kim said, the FP+ seems daunting at first, but when you get the hang of how to adjust the times, is really easy to do and you can change and tweak the times to your heart's content..... Maybe I'd better not tell you that!
I hear you about the winter to summer! I almost had to turn the air on.
Poor Cullen! Glad to hear he's doing better!
Good luck with FPs, you'll be fine.
Totally agree with you & the crappy weather. We went from frigid to needing AC and oh wait back to needing heat last night when we ended up with frost warnings & a 62 degree house at bedtime. No wonder everyone is sick.

Maybe you shouldn't let me know that I'll be able to change and tweak times

We ran our air at night - mainly because we have a brick house and it bakes in the sun since our tree leaves aren't big enough to offer much shade. It was cold in the house this morning as temps outside dipped to 38

I know, right? I'm never quite sure how to dress the boys for school. It was 38 this morning when they left the house, and 72 when I picked them up from school.

And I am another who agrees - spring gets shorter and shorter!
He's starting to feel better...now his middle brother has similar symptoms, though he's much quicker to complain, so we can start his meds sooner.

I realized yesterday that I forgot to post the tennative park plans with the update.
July 20th is our "resort change" day and currently I have only 1 ADR. The husband (see, when he gets in on the planning, he does cause some of our changes) Talked with the neighboring teacher at work - they'd stayed at the Poly two years ago and she RAVED about the breakfast at 'Ohana. So....we have an 8:30 ADR here. I figured well probably try to make the fireworks show at Epcot the night before so we'd need a later start this morning. While I get the boys around, and pack a "day" back and our cooler, Brian is going to arrange for bell services to pick up our bags. After breakfast, we're going to say "goodbye" to the Poly and drive over to AoA to check in. At this point, we'll probably bring our luggage with us. After we check in (I'm assuming our room won't be ready) we have several options:
a) DHS with a late start and late FP+ for Star Tours, Toy Story & ? Not sure...
b) Use our one day WP passes and start at Blizzard Beach then "hop" to Typhoon Lagoon in the later afternoon
c) Use this as our 2nd Animal Kingdom day.
Each of the options have definite pros and cons, and for some reason - I just can't quite commit, mainly because I'm not sure how much time breakfast and packing up and transferring resorts will take.
Any suggestions?

Will it be possible to wait to see what the weather is like on that day before deciding for sure? I think that's what I'd do. If it's a nice day, go for the water parks because you never know if your next free day will be good or not. If it's rainy, choose whichever park you think you'll have more fun at in the rain. AK is actually pretty nice in the rain. The animals are active on the safari and you're pretty-much covered up, and you can spend time at Rafiki's inside to see all the exhibits, meet some animals on the indoor stage and maybe have the boys work on the Wildlife Explorer badges. You can check the forecast the night before and set up FP then if it looks like rain.
