Officially going to Disney World and paid in full - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We had some changes come up, so had to cancel our trip. I am counting on you (and Cam and everyone else who gets to the F&G Festival) to tell us all about how much fun you have and share lot of pics.

Sorry to hear that you had to cancel your trip Sharon!!
You are correct, we have 30 days for our trip to begin and I can not be more excited!!! I don't have much to report as I have been super busy with travel for work and have a few more trips coming up so I will be away from the house for a few days!!
Today is the last day to make any changes to our Magic bands so they should be shipping out within the next couple of days. I need to finish buying a few more caprias or find some Jean shorts but jean shorts are not looking promising! Then we have the house to clean and pack everything up.
Thanks everyone for following along as I know it has not been that exciting to read. LOL

Hi Deb, I just read your full ptr and I am so excited for you. You have made some great plans and have ADRs at some of my favorite places. I cant remember what day you are at Hoop Dee Doo, but taking the boat from the Magic Kingdom is a breeze. If you have some extra time be sure to visit the horses and the stable behind the restaurant. We love to see some of the Disney horses up close.
Some of the crazy things I did to get me in vacation mode: Scour the maps so I knew where to find the snacks I wanted to try, make lists of the shops I hoped to visit, wore the shoes I wanted to wear at the parks so my feet were in vacation mode, booked the dessert party and made lists of pictures I hoped to take. Like zachsmom, I hit the ground running with my BASS (spreadsheet) hoping to fulfill all our plans. I also scoured the boards to find all the special photopass options we could encounter and had fun seeking out those photographers.
We aren't close to accomplishing everything but we started our days very early, enjoyed commando touring in the morning and smelled the roses in the afternoon. We travel when the parks close early, so we stayed til park closing. One of our favorite nights was enjoying snacks at the tables near Caseys as the crowds streamed out of the park. We people watched, duck watched and had the pleasure of seeing the lights dimmed on the castle. We weren't the last to leave but Main St was near empty and perfect for nighttime pictures.
I look forward to reading your final countdown. You have an easy going writing style. It's great knowing your almost their, I remember when your ticker was hundreds of days away!

Welcome and thank you for your comments. We do not have anything planned that morning but I think we are going to play some mini-golf and we plan on going over there early since we both want to check out the Wilderness lodge. It reminds us of Yellowstone Lodge back home!! Can you believe it, I have a hard time believing it is true and we will be there before we know it. I remember having it state 499 days!!

Thanks.
Just saw that our Magic bands have been shipped and should be here by April 6th!!!
So I am finishing up on the last couple of things I have left to do. As I have a few travel dates for work that will put me out of town for a few days. Then we have this whole Cheyenne Frontier Parade committee barbque that we are helping out with so that will keep me pretty busy for the rest of the month.
Bank (credit cards) - Notified for vacation dates
Neighbors - Know who will be coming over to check the house and when we will be gone.
Last of the shopping completed - Well all but one more pair of shorts or capris. Most places around here do not have any shorts out just yet. Heck we are still in our winter season even if the calender states springs.
Reservation information - printed out and in a folder to go in the carry on including our town car shuttle and flight information.
Camera - charged and ready to go - I am sure I will have to make sure it is charged again before we leave but its upstairs by the suitcases.
Hubby has not been excited about going yet as he is one that takes every day one day at a time. But last weekend after I purchased the rest of his clothes, he is almost all packed!! And he says he is not excited. LOL. I have everything up in the spare room and ready to pack, just don't wait to do it yet as the clothes will wrinkle and I am not one to iron!! hehe.
I am sure I will be back before we leave but the very last thing I have to post today is we only have 27 days left!!!!
Thanks to everyone that has read and made comments to my little report and hope when I get back, I will try and write a trip report but I am one that does not take notes and just enjoy the trip!
