Let's Start at the very beginning - PTR:August 17-31 2014 - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just a thought, but maybe you could take a break from lizard beach to play mini golf, then back to cool off again?

Sounds like a great "non park" day! I'm still torn on whether we will do TL or BB on our upcoming trip too, because like you, I'm happy with a lazy river and don't care much about the rest!
Lazy river all the way - I do like TL's pool better than BB.

This is Evan's 1st year with gym so not sure everything they do. I remember square dancing - hated it because we had to hold a boys hand (yuck).

Wrigley is still on no jumping restrictions but we lowered another medicine and not do back for a month.

That is what I'm hoping to do.

Thank you - one of the days we will get to relax a little.
This will be to my sister, so sometime today I’ll have to remember to give her a call (not Eric’s mom).
Today is back on the crazy train with park hopping. I figured our first few days of the trip we would still have lots of excitement and energy and with the afternoon breaks; we can hopefully avoid hitting the inevitable wall too soon into the trip.
This morning I’m excited to be having breakfast in the parks but entering the park before park opening. I’ve never done this – and doing it twice this trip. I tried to play around and see if I could get a closing dinner ADR for AK or HS but it just didn’t work out but this will still be cool.
This morning is breakfast at Hollywood and Vine with the Disney Jr. characters. I had really debated about this one. Evan still watches Disney Jr. but is moving away from it and I don’t think Eric cares one way or the other. This breakfast is really “now or never” as our next visit will most likely be when Evan is completely out of the Disney Jr. phase. He likes Jake and then when they added Doc and Sofia I knew we had to go. Besides kids can really let go and enjoy themselves and not have to be “cool” so I don’t think they will complain and say this is for babies or anything. If Eric has a problem (as he will be close to 9 by then) we just need to have a talk with both boys and remind them they are not the only one on the trip and sometimes they will have to do something because someone else wants to do it.
I had a big debate too as this is our only scheduled HS morning and didn’t know if I could get breakfast and then be done in time to get FP for TSMM and sign the boys up for the Jedi Academy. That was something else I debated about and will get to in a moment.
If we got done breakfast by 9am then things would be OK but if breakfast went until 9:30 we would be running all over. I love my mother dearly but she is starting to show her age and she can stress about things that never bothered her before (especially technology) and she forgets things (conversations) frequently. It is sad and scary and annoying all at the same time. So with that I knew I’d have to take the boys to sign up for the Jedi training and I’d have to get the FP for TSMM as I couldn’t trust my mom to do one of those and I can’t be in 2 or even 3 places at once if breakfast ran late.
Neither Evan nor Eric know about the Jedi show and neither are huge Star Wars fans. After discussing with my sister we decided to skip it this trip. I realize this trip is also “now or never” as well since next trip they most likely will be too old, but sometimes you just have to make the tough decisions. I’m not sure Evan wouldn’t be scared of Darth Vader anyway. He likes to talk a big game but if Darth came storming out all in black with his music playing, Evan might not “man-up”. I do however have the entire last day of our trip completely open so if we really have to we could come to the Studios that morning to try and sign them up.
Now that you can book FP+ in advance, I think we will also be OK for getting into TSMM even if breakfast runs late so I think we are looking good for this HS morning.
So our plans are to have breakfast at Hollywood and Vine at 8am and then if we were able to do FP+ in advance I’d like to hop over to TSMM and then, if not done the other night, meet Buzz and Woody. Eric will want to do Rock n’ Roller Coaster but I think Evan will pass on this so I’ll probably take him to see the Disney Jr. Live on stage show. Eric will also want TOT but again not sure on Evan. He might do this but he is scared of the “ghosts” and the lobby is creepy so I’m thinking he may back out. If he does we will look at B&B or VOLM or something close by.
After the “big” attractions I want to let the boys run around Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playset. They both loved it last trip and would like to head there early so it isn’t too hot or crowded.
After burning off some energy in the playground and if not done the other night we will try to see Phineas and Ferb or Lightning and Mater and have a light lunch, assuming we stuffed ourselves at breakfast and only need a light lunch/snack.
Last thing in HS for the day is the Lights Motor Action show. Currently it is showing the time of 1:20 (but how reliable these other sites are I don’t know). Hopefully it is fairly accurate. I figured it will most likely take about an hour for the show, between arriving a little early for a seat then the actual show and then dispersing the crowds. At that point it will be around 2pm and we will head for the gates and back to the hotel for afternoon break of swim/nap/rest/snack…
Tonight will be a Magic Kingdom night...
Oh how I am hoping that Disney tweaks the FP+ system and allows you to get FP in more than one park in a day or more than just 3. We are still several months away so changes may still happen…
We will arrive in the MK and I’d like to try the Sorcerer game tonight so we will need to pick up cards when we enter.
We have dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern at 6:45 so if we have time after the Sorcerer game we may do something local, CBJ, HOP or ever POTC or JC? I’m looking forward to this meal I haven’t been here since my Sr. trip in High School and Mom and the boys have never been. I think basically having Thanksgiving dinner will sound pretty good as we will be burgered and chicken-fingered out by now. Plus this is not anything I would normally find at home. We have a really good diner near our house and I have gotten their Turkey dinner before but it was lunchmeat(deli) turkey not a nice carved turkey breast. And Evan loves mashed potatoes and gravy so I think this meal will be a hit.
Here is where I need more as again I was hoping for 2 showings of the MSEP so we could do some more touring during the 1st show and then catch the second one. I’d like to stay in the area after dinner as we usually watch the MSEP from Frontierland or Liberty Square. So if able we will check out HOP. We will watch MSEP either early or late showing, Wishes and the Castle Projection show – what is that called? (just looked it up – Celebrate the Magic)
Whatever happens we will leave for the night after all these events. I just would rather be able to get in a few attractions while everyone is lined up for the 1st parade and then watch the 2nd parade with less crowds.
Anyone know of a good spot to watch Wishes that is over on the Frontierland/Adventureland/Liberty Square side of the MK? However I’ve never watched Wishes from Main Street so we may brave the crowds and try it there – where is your favorite spot?
Firsts:
Evan – H&V, Entering a park before opening, B&W meet, RNR?, TOT?, Disney Jr., Sorcerer of MK, LTT, HOP, castle projection show
Me – H&V, Entering a park before opening, Disney Jr., Sorcerer of MK, castle projection show
Mom – H&V, Entering a park before opening, B&W meet, Sorcerer of MK, LTT, castle projection show
Eric – H&V, Entering a park before opening, B&W meet, Sorcerer of MK, LTT, HOP, castle projection show
I'll also be doing breakfast at H&V. Adriel just turned 9 and he's been slowly leaving Disney Jr. in the past. I asked him if he wanted me to cancel the meal but he said no. I think he's pretty excited about meeting Sofia and Doc for the first time. I know this will be the last time at this character meal, for sure.
That sounds so exciting! The Sorcerers game was so much fun. I did get a bit annoyed when I had to wait in line to use a portal and I saw spoilers from other people playing the game. But the cards are still awesome.
I think we are all hoping for some FP+ changes, but it doesn't seem like you really have anything you need them for at MK this evening, so you should be okay My favorite place is Main Street for the fireworks, and it's about the only time I don't mind the crowds. But really, you can't go wrong!
