What exactly DID we do in 12 days? - A Coop/ChukkerB TR - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Oh no! I can see why that would be super scary for you Coop about Chucks head. I am glad that you decided to take it easy in the least.
I can understand what you are saying about the "holiday" music Chuck. When I went in 2012 after Thanksgiving. I really missed some of the park music and the music at the POP. Everything was Christmas music. That was probably the only thing I didn't like about going at that time of year. The only time I heard something other than holiday music was on the busses (like you said) and most of the time it was tv show theme songs...that was it.
That being said, I can't wait to bring my family during the holiday season, just once.
Just catching up again. I felt the same way about the Holiday Sandwich last year. I told my DH we will stick with WGPE for now on. So happy to hear Chuck is okay. That can be very scary!
It sounds like you two just can't catch a break on this trip! We never tend to stay to long at water parks either and I think I would go right down for a nap after as well. I wasn't overly impressed with EOS when we were there last either, but I enjoyed a sandwich as a break from all the other rich food after being there for 8 days. If it was earlier in the trip I would have been a little let down I think!

You know it seems like we couldn't catch a break, but that sort of defined our whole year. We had lot's of downs, and a few ups, but we made the best of it.
The lows: Meg dying, Mom falling and needing 2 major orthopaedic surgeries, Coop changing schedules, Epic training(GRRRRRR)
The Highs: An impromptu Disney trip, me getting a big role in a play(that could go under lows as well) Getting Abby
The title, again, says it all. When you look at what little we did (Park wise, special extras) We didn't do all that much. What we did, mostly, was unwind. We talked, planned some things for the next year, talked some more, and at times we just shut up and enjoyed the time we had together.
We are Beach Body coaches,BUT we have a lot of weight loss, and exercise to be where we want to be to say we are coaches. It's called "fruit on the tree" and we have to get some. No one's going to take health advice from a fat person.
We also talked about our 2014 trip as we were at the 11 month mark for our reservations. We always have a lot of discussing where we want to stay. We both have our favorite resorts, but our home is BLT. Not our favorite place by a long shot. We also wanted to do something "special". As some of you know we are planning a nine day stay at BLT, we're giving them another chance. Also we are going on the four day Caribbean cruise to follow. A trip like that requires a lot of planning, and I think a lot of this trip was discussing what next year was gonna be like

I don't think it hurts to unwind while at WDW. More and more, I prefer doing less and less and truly enjoying every moment.
I think us Disney "Old Timers" feel like that as we either get older or find ourselves just wanting to soak in the Disney Atmosphere instead of running from ride to ride. Nothing wrong with wanting to just "unwind" and take it slow at Disney Chuck! You both certainly had your challenges this year and you deserved a relaxing trip
Wow - that was scary at Blizzard Beach. I don't blame you keeping a careful eye on him and I'd have been just like you, insisting on some medical advice as well, as it's just not worth taking the risk with any head injury.
It was scary!

We noticed those hair bands on that ledge too. Must be a little game people play! Teamboat Springs was fun but not one of my favorites. It felt so cramped because there is no place to comfortably extend your legs.
Love your nighttime pictures of the castle!
It was scary. I thought the sitting situation on Teamboat Springs was kind of weird too.

Definitely not. We had many good times with a couple of pronounced hiccups.

What a bummer with the sandwiches at EOS
I was worried in the wave pool. They are rough!

Exactly - we had many good times but had a few really bad road bumps. Those potholes really disrupted "the ride".

I had heard good things about it too. That's why I wanted to try it. I think it was just soooo busy for them and that it was made hastily.

My first visit there I got the Full Montague and didn't realize until I was finished that "full" was a misnomer on this one as part of the sandwich had been omitted. I was so hungry that I'd inhaled it. I looked back up to the board to write about it in my notebook and that is when I finally realized their error. Kind of hard to take it back up when I'd already eaten the whole thing. I check now before the first bite.
I love EOS sandwiches - I think at DTD, they are so busy at times that some of the construction is overlooked. When I asked about the brownie sandwich, I got "whatever is out there is it". So they were just too busy to be bothered.

Very scary incident with Chuck hitting his head on the bottom of the pool at BB! We love Raglan Road as we ate there for lunch and dinner on our trip last week! Their chicken breast sandwich at the walk up area near The Hole in the Wall Bar was the best chicken sandwich I've ever had! Their bread was so fresh and the chicken was so moist The Irish dancers and the band that plays at dinner are fun to watch too! Sorry your holiday sandwich at EOS wasn't that good. It's actually my favorite sandwich there but it sounds like the person who prepared it was pretty cheap on the ingredients Glad you seemed to be settled in to OKW!
We want to go back to Raglan Road to see the dancers! That is definitely one for another trip.

Sounds like you had a relaxing day. Glad your headache went away. Headaches suck!
See now, I am on the opposite of Chuck. I LOVED the holiday overlay for Illuminations! It was during that that I grabbed Dana's hand, gave it a squeeze and said, "Omg!" We loved it. I thought it was better than the Wishes Holiday Fireworks show.
I love Wishes. Illuminations - I can take or leave.

I think the Holiday season needs to be experienced at Disney at least once. But we just were on overload. I know Chuck missed all the "island" music at OKW.

Never tried WGPE. Maybe next year!

Yeah - tend to get tired after swimming.

Ok - I was going to use this kind of update for "final thoughts" but ok.

When we first started going - I wanted to do everything. Now that we are DVC and KNOW we will be back, we can kind of take a laid back approach. Although, I try to plan something "special" for every trip. Like WAT or tea, carriage ride, holiday party, etc.

We are good with taking in the atmosphere and relaxing. When we first went, I was one of the ones running from sun up to sun down. Now, not so commando.
Sunday 12/15/13 - No photos this time as Photobucket is down for maintenance. This was a light photo day anyway.
I was up at 7:30 and had tea on the balcony. Chuck slept until around 10 am. (about 12 hours of sleep) We couldn't decide on what to do. We were going to go out for breakfast but it was getting too late. So we had stuff in the room - bagels, pop tarts, fruit. We ended up going to DTD for some shopping therapy. We did manage to get some Christmas presents and souvenirs. I finally found a Harvey Bag that I liked! I still couldn't find an Alex and Ani or a Pandora charm that I liked though. We actually got MOST of our Christmas shopping done. Then we headed over to Pollo Camparo/Bistro/Babycakes for lunch. We got some great burgers!
We were going to head over to AK but Chuck wasn't feeling good. He was exhausted and still just not quite right. Personally, I think he had a whopping concussion. So we went back to the room around 2 pm. Chuck laid down and slept until 5! I was online and watching tv while he slept. Again, listening for breathing and hoping that he didn't have an intracranial bleed. (19 hours of sleep total in the past 24 - had me worried!)
After his nap, he got up all energized and said he felt great. So we got ready for our dinner ADR. We caught a bus to AK to get a bus to AKL as we were heading for Sanaa. We caught the AK bus and we were the only ones on it. The driver asked where we were heading and we told him Kidani for dinner at Sanaa. He was chit chatting with us but he called dispatch on his radio. He requested to be taken out of service for a few so he could take us directly to Kidani and bypass the AK stop. Unfortunately, they didn't respond in time and he had to continue his route. We thanked him for trying though. That was really sweet. We managed to get to Kidani in plenty of time to look around in their gift shop and had time to sit on the balcony watching the wildlife. Then we had a really great dinner. I had the butter chicken and beef short ribs. We shared the bread service with all 9 spreads. The waiter gave us hints just as the waitress at Raglan Road had. Pour the rice on the dish then add your meats on top! Chuck thought he saw a friend at dinner. Some of the theater people here have doppelgängers in Disney! We've seen at least 2 other people at Disney that Chuck thought were friends from the theater here. After dinner, we were stuffed and made our way to the busses. We caught one for DHS and were off to see some Osborne Lights. It was a nice relaxing evening.
Glad Chuck was feeling better after all that sleep! We LOVE Sanaa (okay I love all the AKL restaurants) and you had the same thing I had last trip! Sooo tasty! Our local Indian restaurant makes great Naan, but I was sure missing those spreads!

Tracy, the photos are showing the right size for me. I think Photobucket may be working on a delay or something. I'm considering using Shutterfly in the future as I already upload photos there for printing purposes. I practiced a little a few nights ago, but I'm not sure if it will work better yet or not.
I am so glad Chuck awoke from his nap energized again. That head injury was worrisome. Which Harvey bag did you get? I really think I like them as well, maybe even better, than the D&B because the two I have are holding up so well. I've never really been gentle with purses. I love the pictures of the Osborne Lights.
