"Yes, The Past Can Hurt, But You Can Either Run From It or You Can Learn From It" - PTR - COMPLETED 9/20 #184 - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Funny how things can change over just a few months:
My original plans…before we knew we were being selected for MB and Fastpass +
Sunday September 22nd: Relax and explore the resort and if not too tired go out later and play a game of miniature golf.
Monday: The only thing I have so far planned is the breakfast at Chef Mickey’s. We might be going to EPCOT this day.
Tuesday: Have breakfast at Chef Mickey, than head off to Hollywood Studios for a few hours. Afterwards come back to POR for lunch and head out in the evening to MNSSHP.
Wednesday: Have an early (before the park is opened) breakfast at the Crystal Palace and spend the day at the Magic Kingdom
Thursday and Friday: Breakfast at Chef Mickey’s and then we’ll be visiting Animal Kingdom. With the shorten hours we know it will take us two days to cover this park.
Plans as of today:
We decided to add on an additional day and go into the MK the first evening for a few hours. We know how much Joshua is looking forward to riding SM and DH believes this will be great for him especially after a long car ride and since we were able to guarantee a time, I figured it would be worth the extra $15 a person to spend a few hours there.

• Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside – Check Out
We are going to play it by ear when it comes to the other attractions at the four theme parks, since it looks like most of them will be walk on during the month of September. I’m also going to try to do my character meet and greet agenda (see post #144) while the guys are riding the E-Ticket rides. Everyone here can’t wait to go and we’re all in agreement that it looks like this should be a more relaxing vacation than last time. I just have to remind myself to allow extra time so we don’t find ourselves rushing around, especially when it comes to the ADR’s. Two more weeks and we’re on our way!
It's always interesting to see how our plans evolve over the months of planning. Yours look great!
I was actually surprise by how much they changed from when I first started.
I'm glad that part is over and now I can concentrate on my scheduling book for Joshua.

Thanks! Now that part is done and looks like there aren't any more changes, I can finish putting together my schedule power point for Joshua. He requires a lot of details so I had to wait until now before I could begin that part of my project. Luckily I have a few days before we leave to get it all together.
Glad you added the extra day, I love the idea of knowing you will be able to his some of Joshua's favorites on your arrival day. I am sure it will set the mood for a great trip going forward.
PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.

For us adding the extra day/evening on to the ticket was much cheaper than adding on the Park Hopper, which we didn't even use last time.

From what I can tell this time of the year most of the other rides are walk-ons, so we'll see how many we actually do for this trip.

Oh wow! Looks like you're almost on your way! Have fun!
This past couple of days has not been without some sort of adventure, but isn’t that how it usually goes before one goes on vacation? Our central air compressor for our house went out, so we had to order a new one. After looking at our accounts, I decided that we would use my checking account to purchase the replacement part and use my DH account for our normal monthly expenses. I usually like to pull out a little cash to have on hand in case of emergencies, since not everyone takes debit cards, so I usually stop by bank on the way home to do this. However this time for some strange reason I forgot to stop there and found myself stopping at another bank’s ATM. Well I did my transaction, got my cash and my receipt. I drove home logged onto the website to place the order and when it got to the payment screen....that's when I realized…I walked away without getting my card! Of course this happened on a Sunday, so there was nothing I could do until the next day, when I could call my bank and have another card issued, which I’m hoping will be here before we leave for vacation! Now I’m staring at the screen and wondering how I’m going to place the order for the compressor, when I notice my favorite little symbol at the bottom of the screen…”PayPal”! Thank goodness I’m registered with them, so with a few clicks, I was able to complete my order and we should have the part here in a couple of days for my DH’s friend to install. Right now we're using window units and the weather hasn’t been too bad for the most part. However, it will be nice to have the unit fixed and running properly again.
I’m pleased to report Joshua is doing well on his new medicine and his anxiety is starting to lessen. Will has the job of getting Joshua on the school bus in the morning. We’re not sure why, but starting toward the end of last school year and up until now, Joshua has a meltdown every time the bus comes to pick him up him the morning. It will usually take Joshua anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes to calm down before he can get on the bus. He loves school, but something about the bus ride has him all bothered. This is one of the reasons we are trying him on this new medicine. Well it looks like it’s starting to work, for the first time since we can remember….Joshua got on the bus without having a meltdown! Of course that was only for one day and then the next day he was back to having his meltdowns again. Oh well, all we can do is hope for the best and pray that he out grows this phase soon. Of course we celebrate any moment when something good happen even the little ones! Hmmm maybe we'll chose for Joshua’s I'm Celebrating button: “Waiting my turn” or “Fewer meltdowns”
During the last couple of days I’ve made my list of items we’ll be taking with us and which suitcase they will be going into. My goal for this weekend is to get the suitcases ready and start packing. I’m afraid I won’t have much time during the week with work. At this point I’m looking at using 3 carry-on suitcases for our clothes and a few stacking cubes for our electronic, toiletries, and Disney materials. That way I should have no problems finding anything at a moment’s notice. I also plan on getting in one last chance at a little me time and will be heading in for one more facial/massage, along with a way over due hair coloring appointment.
Oh doesn't it always happen where all heck breaks loose right before vacation? Maybe its to make you appreciate going away more. Thank goodness for Paypal!
