Taking A Break from Life with a Trip to My Happy Place - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Yay!!!!! I am so happy that they worked it out for you. I can't wait for the pics.
My dad surprised my mom with a four day trip yesterday and since they have AP's they got into the New Fantasyland today. I was so jealous! They sent me pics all day as I was working!!!
Registered Message Board Members save 30% off PassPorter guidebooks! When you register you'll have access to a discount coupon good for 30% off the list price of PassPorter books in our online store.
As for the Sorcerors game, I think Hope will enjoy the effects of the game, but she probably won't understand the concept of 'saving' the kingdom. I'm sure she'll like the cards too . You can register to play too (and your mom) that way you get more cards (these are the powers you can use). Enjoy!

So happy the preview is working out, Melissa! And we know you'll have awesome photos to share!!
OK, I do need to figure out how to concoct that snowball drink! Maybe Heather would have some idea of ratios...
So is the pixie dust fart coming from Stinkerbell?
Yay, so glad that they are going to let Hope into the preview! We were able to check out part of the FLE with the soft openings while we were there in October. We rode the new Mermaid ride which was really cute. I am not sure what else was open, I know Gaston's Pub and I think you could have seen the restaurant maybe, but we didn't walk around there. It was dark at the time and kind of hard to really enjoy the space. So I can't wait to see your pictures if you are allowed to take some!
We heard its going to be a bad winter in our area. That nor'easter is just going to add insult to injury for the beaches and shore.
Patiently waiting for the snow they said would come, but still nothing, and that makes me happy. Hopefully the storm isn't going to be bad at all. Heaven knows we don't need anything else right now.

If you're reporting there 30 mins before the preview you'll have to hoof it and trust to luck that you can get on a ferry or monorail, then through security and the turnstiles, then back to FL in time. Or are you being escorted??
(Those crazy ladies you hang out with virtually are a hoot!!)
This next storm is NOT what people need right now. The winds are supposed to be tropical-storm level again.
You cracked me up with "wiggling around" aka "your jig". Shake it girl! I'm a little confused about the transportation myself, so I'm not sure if they're taking us in or we have to take ourselves in. I guess I'm going to need a rocket propelled monorail to get me there.

Thanks, and I totally forgot to respond to your Steelers comment the other day. I'll be in Disney for that game!!! But no worries since we'll be playing you all again two weeks later! WTH???

I do enjoy reading over your list of firsts, and while I like them all, my favorite list would be the one titled "Drinks in Epcot" yes, yes.....do have fun with those.
That whole check in at TTC is odd to me. I hope it's an early time and doesn't get in the way of whatever you have going on that day, and why won't there be food available in BOG? It's open now for dinner and lunch isn't it? Who cares though really........you are going to SEE it!!!
Gotta love all the bathroom humor that has taken over my TR! I swear I'm going to get a shirt made for you. J/K. Actually, I'm in the process of making all three of you a little something for Christmas and I could actually incorprate this little "fairy fart" thing you seem to have going on, but I won't do that to you.
I'll make sure to text you a photo of every single drink I partake in on this trip. Hopefully it's enough of them to keep you guys from getting bored.
And all those questions about FLE are the same exact ones I have, but the mystery will be solved soon enough I guess.

I'm pretty sure Dawn farts pixie dust too. I mean, how many times in a row can the same family get upgraded at the same resort?!?!?
I'm so excited you'll get to see FL! I'm jealous all of you will see it before me! (I'm pretty sure Dawn will get in sometime while down there. At least I hope so.) This is why we're going to MNSSHP next year after the cruise - just so I can see the new FL.
Don't worry about not getting smart, we all can't be Jersey. Actually, like I told Dawn, I really do think I have Jersey in my bloodline somewhere because I can bring it when I have too. Good luck with your new phone. Once you have it you'll wonder how you survived without it for so long. And I totally agree that Dawn has pixie gas of her own. You and I must be the discreete ones of the group.

Maybe Gaston's will be open for us. It would be nice to eat something from the new area.

I can definitely see her enjoying what each card can do. Let's just hope her attention span lasts through the game.

When you find out, let me know since all I would suggest is pouring a little bit of everything in one glass and hoping for the best. And yes, that would be Stinkerbell you're smelling.
I had to laugh, bc my dog growing up was named Tink. I named her that bc when she was a puppy and first got her tags, she would run around the house, and they would tink.
My cousin moved in with us at some point and he started calling her Stinkerbell!
In the end, I started calling her Stinkdog. That poor dog, had so many names!
Well we didn't get snow, it went just to the north and east of us. We only saw a few snow flakes. My sister works at Rowan in Jersey and it was snowing there for quite some time. All this Jersey talk has me cracking up. I grew up basically right at the base of the Del Mem Bridge in New Castle, have family in Del, MD, NJ and PA. Know all too well about the Jersey, lol because it goes hand in hand with the New Castle! Everyone that grew up in this area always says, don't make me bring the New Castle out! So how far are you from the Baltimore area? We are probably about 1 1/2 hours from Baltimore, would either take 95 or 301. There used to be a Rainforest Cafe in MD but I am not seeing it now on the locations. We have gone there a couple times just to feel like we were in Disney! There is one in AC now. I told Sammy we would go over the winter, looks like we may be taking a road trip to AC! lol!

Oh and something to add to your list would be Chocolate Covered Caramel with Sea Salt in the Germany Caramel Shop. They come in Milk Choco or Dark Choco and are sooooo yummy! The perfect combination of sweet and salty. I am currently trying to find out if they will ship them to you!!!

That's too funny! My aunt has a dog that was given one name, and has somehow ended up with something like four. But nothing that hints of odor.

I actually work in Baltimore City...yes, please pray for me. Actually, I work in the financial district, so it isn't so bad, but still it's Baltimore City, so you get what you get. We live about 25 minutes north of the actual city (think Inner Harbor), and are about 25 minutes south of the Delware line, so your not too far from us at all.
You're right, there did used to be a Rainforest Cafe, and I learned the hard way that they got rid of it. It was set up in the Towson Town Center Mall, and I was registering for my baby shower down the street, when a pregnancy craving hit for a Disney fix. Yeah, it happens. Anyway, that's how I used to get it, so when we got to the mall and walked to where the restaurant was supposed to be...it had disappeared! Needless to say I was not a happy pregnant camper.
And I will definitely add those caramels to my snack list. You're not the only person I've seen mention those suckers, so they must be pretty tasty.

Maybe I saw that in your report, can't remember! I just know someone mentioned them and I searched them out! Had one and then had to go back and get a couple more to take home! A friend that had travelled with us in Oct wanted to see if they ship them, he wanted to get some for his wife for christmas, but disney told me they no longer ship perishables. Darn! Great stocking stuffers!!
