The We NEED This Vacation / It's Now Or Never 9/18-9/27 PTR - COMPLETE!! 9/18 - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So sorry about the needle. I'm no good with them either so just reading about it gave me the heebie-jeebies!
I'm reading this at work right now (boss is traveling all week ) and cannot get into YouTube (firewall) so will have to watch Layla's video at home tonight. Good job to her for coming in 2nd place! That's awesome! Love Mals so much - they are such a special breed. I can't ever picture a time in my life when I don't own one

What an awesome video, Layla is wonderful, btw I love her name, BIG Clapton fan here! I'm glad that your appt went well, but ohhhhh those Cortisone shots, not a chance and I'm a nurse. I'd have to be in horrible pain to do that. An Epidural during childbirth was horrible and it didn't even work, ugh.

I am the same way with shots and getting blood taken.
I had an MRI with the dye and I don't ever want to do that again.
Good job to Layla.
Thank you!

Thanks for sharing the video! Your dog is soooo cute! It's awesome how you work with her!! I seen your hair is almost as long as mine! I am going to donate 10 to 12ins to Locks of Love tomorrow. My hair is a big deal to me! My mom kept it cut short when I was little, so I told her "when I grow up I am growing my hair all the way to my butt!" Well I have! I have donated 2 times already! I let it grow to my butt then donate it to little kids who don't get the chance to have hair. I that program!! Keep the updates coming! I sure hope we see each other in Disney...if nothing else get a chance to wave!! So if you see a crazy lady waving just smile & say I think I know her from PP's lol!!
I hope that the nerve kill works for your husband! My hair is a big deal to me too! When I was 13 or so, my mom asked if I wanted to go to the pet store and get a hamster. You know how much I love animals, so of course I said, YES! Except, you can imagine my surprise and disappointment when we never went to a pet store..we went to the hair salon instead I never figured out her reason for the mean trick, but they cut my hair SHORT, like Rosie O'Donnell short. Once I finally get over that, I'd love to donate to Locks of Love. Right now, I still can only get it trimmed occasionally I hope that we see each other - that would be so cool! I haven't run into any PP'ers yet. I've seen some people with the pouches, but I didn't recognize them from the board so I didn't want to just run up to them like a crazy lady

My husband gets them all of the time, but he says it doesn't bother him...he's a trooper! I can't have anything in my spine, so at least I will never have to deal with that either.
Good to hear you were able to get those forms, and don't worry about the DME tag, they will definitely be able to help you out there.
It's getting so close now!!!
Btw, Layla did a great job!
Thank you! First they gave me the regular MRI, but it was "inconclusive" so I had to go back for the one with dye. It wasn't as painful as my brothers, but I'd much rather not have it done ever again! I hope I never have to get anything in my spine

Thank you! They're so amazing, but I usually find myself talking people OUT of getting them . They see how great Layla is doing therapy work, or obedience or agility - but they don't see the crazy dog running full speed around the house and jumping on the couch with such force it tips backward!! You'd know better than anyone that they aren't for anyone, but
I definitely can't see myself without a Mal either.

Thanks!! You'd be surprised at how few people get that it's a reference to Clapton I've had people come up to me asking if she's named after #13 on Deal or No Deal. Really, people? I'd never had a cortisone shot before so I wasn't sure what to expect, but now I'd rather not get one And I hope I never need any kind of spinal injection!
Oh jeeze...in 24 hours, we'll be on our way to the airport!
I still have a lot to do, but we've gotten a lot accomplished.
It looks like I'm going to be packing for my brother as well as for myself I asked him to try and pack some things beforehand, but he started saying things about how he's never done it before and he wouldn't want to do it wrong and he's sure I'm a pro at it so wouldn't it be better for me to do it for him? He's crafty. I asked him to at least try to gather things together, if not pack them.
I'm picking him up tomorrow afternoon/evening, and it'll be a lot easier if things are at least grouped together so I don't have to track down each individual article of clothing. But I bet I can guess how it'll be
Poor Pat had to go to the doctor today. He'd been feeling a little iffy the past few days, but last night his throat was so sore he couldn't swallow. He went to a doctor and they gave him antibiotics and a cough syrup. He's feeling pretty miserable, but he's glad that he went to the doctor beforehand and started the medication rather than try to tough it out and wind up having to either stay in the room or even go to a clinic down there. Plus, I don't want him getting Russ or I sick!
We interviewed the pet sitter today. She seems nice and seems to really care about the animals. The dogs all liked her. Layla wouldn't get away from her boobs. I think she's never smelled implants before. I don't mean to sound rude, but they clearly were, and Layla was so confused it was cute.
I got the last minute things for the trip. I think we've bought all that we need. I just need to get more gravy supplement for the dogs.
I've been debating whether or not to get a pedometer. I've wanted one the past two years. The first year I'd forgotten it and last year I remembered, but when I took it out of my carryon it was broken! I'd like to see how far we walk each day, but that's a Maybe.
Tomorrow, I have to:
Go to physical therapy
Drop off Pat's doctor's note at his work (the doctor gave him tomorrow off)
Go to my work and get a refund for my registration
Possibly pick up a pedometer
Pick up the dog's supplement
Pick up my brother
Pack for him
Pack for me
Last minute cleaning around the house
Write up a paper for the first pet sitter (the neighbor)
I'm sure I'm forgetting things - but can't remember what!!
I hope I'm able to finish everything - a ton of running around to do!
Oh, I stopped at the Disney Store in the mall today and got Pat and I each a shirt. I was going to get one for Russ, but wasn't sure what he'd like. I figured we'd wait until we get there and he can pick out one he likes.
Pat's shirt. He loves Jack Skellington and Nightmare Before Christmas. They're his favorite.
My shirt It's kind of hard to tell, but the grey is actually all glitter.
Oh, also, one other thing that I did - since Pat can't keep secrets and can't tell lies (he's like a 4 year old, which is really nice; it means he doesn't have a lot of practice at deceiving people), I know that he's ordered both Russ and me a special dessert for California Grill. Now, I can't have poor Pat sitting there with nothing while Russ and I are eating our special desserts, so I ordered him something, too.

I almost spit out my coffee while I was reading this!!! Hilarious! I hope Pat starts feeling better before the trip. That plane ride might not make him feel too good, so here's hoping the medicine kicks in quick! And I really like the shirts.
My friend that we're meeting down there is leaving tomorrow too and I'm soooo jealous! Have a great time and maybe we'll end up running into each other. You'll have to spot me first since I have no idea who too look out for.

Absolutely. The Malamute rescue group I work with does very thorough screenings of potential adopters because they are not a breed for everyone. They are stubborn and can have very dominant personalities. My first Mal, Bandit, was about as Alpha Male as you could get. In his mind the order of importance in the "pack" was Me, then him, then DH They can be difficult to train because they are SO independent & smart. Mine would just look at me sometimes with this look on his face like "Please calm down human. I know exactly what you're saying. I'm not stupid. I am simply choosing to do my own thing." That's why I'm so impressed with all you've done with Layla. Putting up with the hair and the shedding can be tough too. But, as you know, they are wonderful companions because they are so pack-oriented. They love their family They're funny too. I can never get enough of the "talking" and the "WooooWooooo" My neighbors tell me that they love to listen to our Nikki in the backyard when she gets going with the "Woooo Wooooos" - it cracks them up. Like you said, they're not for everyone but once you've had a Mal in your life there's no going back. You will be forever in love with that breed
Oh my gosh I'm so distracted I can hardly believe that you leave tomorrow. Sooooo fun. I was cracking up about layla and the implants that is funny. Makes you wonder huh?
Have a wonderful trip, and I hope no one else gets sick. Always wanted to use this smiley!
Hey girl! My hair feels soooo short right now(even though it is down to my bra)!! It looks good, & my DH likes it so all is good!! I completely understand about your hair!! It's ok to keep it long! I used to tell people I would donate my hair one day but for now I am still using it!! I finally got the nerve a few years ago to donate it was only 7in to 9in the first time. They still take it they just I believe sell it to off set costs. Then 2 years ago I donated like 12ins & just the other day I donated 12 inches! It was hard for me, but I know it is for a good cause. My mom beat cancer, my DH went back to work, & I was blessed with a trip to Disney I never thought I'd have!! I believe God has been so good to me I had to give back! You give back in soooo many ways Hun don't sweat donating hair. If you want to then some day do it if not I believe you already do a lot of good!! I LOVE your new shirt for real I want one!! I sooooo hope I see you! I am glad you found a nice pet sitter! You made me giggle with the implant thing!!! O well as long as she takes good care of your doggies, right?! I will pray for you all to have a safe, healthy, & super fun trip!!! Remember if you look at my schedule & see a chance for us to meet say so if not wave... yell...say HI!!!
