Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Shame the DLP portion came at the end of the trip and it has tainted your otherwise fabulous vacation!!! Kind of like my March trip where I got sick that one day and that is the day that really sticks out in my mind!

No worries Anne, you've got a trip to WDW to clear away the DLP bad taste!!!

Sorry that you did not have such a great experience at DLP, It really did not sound very fun with the rude guests and that not so great food. Gld you got to experience it, but there was definitely a difference in your report from the tour portion to your time at DLP.

Thanks so much for sharing your trip with us, I loves your WDW report and this was great as well, loved seeing the pictures from Europe (definitely on my wish list but until then I live vicariously through other peoples reports )
Thanks for reading my report. Yea Europe is beautiful between the architecture of the building and the beautiful scenery, it is worth seeing.

Thanks also for reading my report. i am sure you will have a great time. I am glad that i went, the only thing i am saying is it is not WDW. so i went with high expectations. if you go with the thought that is is not WDW, then it will be okay. i didn't find it hard to be by myself except for the meals. i should have eaten at fast food, but i wanted to experience the restaurant food, which disappointed me, as again they were not like WDW. so as long as you go thinking that it is not WDW, it will be fine.

Thanks for reading my report. The people in my tour were wonderful, but it's been my experience, since i used to do lots of tours when i was younger, that generally, the groups have really nice people, as they are people who love to travel and love to travel in groups. Switzerland is amazing, it is surrounded by the Alps, which i find are just beautiful, not like the Rockies that we have here. i love the Alps.
i am glad that i did experience DLP, because i wanted to see it, but now when i need my Disney fix, i will go to WDW, my favorite. I still want to go to Europe, but will do tours, not DLP. i would like to do the UK tour (England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland) and i would like to do Scandinavia and Baltic (Norway, Finland, Denmark, Sweeden, Russia, Poland, Germany - Berlin, Latvia and Slovania). Yea i certainly enjoyed my tour more than DLP, but i am not sorry that i went to DLP, as i got to experience it and it wasn't that bad, it is just not WDW. If you need a Disney fix, then WDW will do the trick.

Hi! I just read your report, thanks for writing it. I was happy to find it since it is recent (from 2010). I will be at DLP soon (18-21 July) and I am looking for info about the restaurants. I haven't started a thread or looked around much yet but I will. I will try one or two of the buffets that you recommend.

By the way, it is currently hot hot hot in Paris. I hope the temps go down soon.

Thanks again!

It's hot hot hot everywhere in Europe right now. They are forecasting the temperatures to go down from the start of next week, so hopefully you'll be OK.

What a shame I won't be on to our Disneyland Paris trip report by the time you go - I've still got a number of installments to go before I get there, but we were tere from 9 - 11 June, so if there's anything I can help with, then post away and I'll do my best to answer your questions.

Oh yes, that report would be helpful. I'll enjoy it afterwards as well, I am sure.

My most urgent question is how far is the Newport Beach hotel from the exit of the RER train? I can't access the DLP site easily to find out, flash player required and I am on a device that doesn't use it. So I am not being lazy and not just looking myself. I have been to DLP once, but did not stay on site. I will be coming from central Paris, not Roissy so I can not just take the Disney bus. What do you think? Is there maybe a taxi stand there, or can we walk? It will be me, DS14 and very little luggage.

Which two restaurants should we do? We like table service, don't mind 2 hour meals and don't need characters.

Thanks for any advice you have time to give!

you can walk from Newport Beach to the train station, it is about 15-20 mins walk, i have done it, it is just a nice walk.

the 2 table restaurants, i would say Walt's on main street, it is really nice and you could do Blue Lagoon in Adventureland. but all the hotels have very nice restaurants, most of them have each a table service restaurant and a buffet and they are really nice. also in Disney village, i enjoyed rainforest cafe.

Hi, thanks for the restaurant ideas. I wish I could reserve online, but it seems like you have to call. I may try and do that this week - just a week before we are there....trust me, I am never this unorganized for a wdw trip! I am just trying to go with the flow. We have three nights so we should be able to do lots. With only two people to please decisions are made easily. I think the weather and my stamina (feet) will be our weak points. But I imagine the parks are smaller distances than WDW.

The only question I have then is is there a sign to the hotels? We will be walking from the train to the hotel the first time, without having been there before.

you don't have to worry about ressies at DLP really, you could go in the morning and make your ressies, it's not like at WDW

There is a sign to the hotels. for Newport Beach when you get off the train station, you go in Disney village, walk until the end and then it is a pathway and there's signs for all the hotel, the first one is hotel New York, then you turn right and it will be hotel Manhattan, you go to the end of the pathway and it's Newport Beach

Thanks for the directions! I feel much better knowing how to get there. I might just be able to relax on this vacation. It's good to know we can just wait on the restaurant ressies if we want.

yea you can make them when you get there or the morning of. it is fine. if you don't make ressies, you can still go, but you will have to wait and sometimes, they tell you to come back in a couple of hours (they give you a ressies for in a couple of hours, i did that too and during that time, i went shopping and came back at my time. it is not a big deal like WDW. i think because WDW has the disney dining plan and that's what makes it so busy
