Y'all are going to Disney World again?? PTR Nov 14-22, 2010 - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just getting started but it sounds fantastic.
Will read through and get caught up tonight when the kids go to bed
ETA: Okay, I just couldn't wait til bedtime.
I hope your sister is doing well and I love that your mom was a part of the PTR - how fun!
I would give most anything for a Grand Gathering - my dad & step-mom love Disney and got us started. Sadly, in April 2009 my dad had a massive stroke and is unable to travel to WDW anymore. Enjoy your wonderful family & trip. I cannot wait to hear all about it.
Thanks for joining - I have to admit I haven't been faithful to this PTR - as you can tell with all the updates from my DMom....LOL I am so sorry to hear about your DDad! My DDad started having heart problems back in the late spring/early summer. The doctors are recommending he have a pacemaker put in - and I believe he is trying putting it off until after WDW - he wants to ride the coasters one more time. So this might be our last grand gathering - gonna try to make it a GREAT one!!

Thank you very much. It is hard. I will have you & your dad in my thoughts and prayers for successful procedures upon your return home.
Enjoy your treats at WDW and I wasn't so sure about the Dole Whip once I realized what it actually was {I get pineapple ice cream and pineapple juice} but they are so yummy and quite refreshing. I will have to sneak one on our next trip as it has come to light since our last trip that DS is allergic to pineapple and he loves pineapple.
Wow! You are getting so close now. Good luck on the packing and organizing.

Thanks for remembering my Dad!! I have heard SO much about the Dole Whip from fellow passporters - it's a must on this trip!! And I also love pineapple! Sorry about your son being allergic to it . We are VERY close now - I have most of our clothes laid out. It's so hard packing for 5 people for 8 days!!
We are 5 days from leaving for WDW!!! There is still sickness in our family. My DDaughter woke up Saturday morning with a fever and what seems to be a stomach virus. The fever has came & gone...the stomach problems are still lingering around. So she stayed in bed most of the day, and I would lay with her then jump up and clean for awhile. I got the house nice & clean - hoping it will stay like that until we leave. ( I do not like leaving a messy house ) My SWEET DMom let my older two boys stay with her Saturday and spend the night so hopefully they wouldn't catch what their little sister had. But guess what?? I woke up Sunday morning with my lower back in terrible pain - either from laying too much or cleaning too much?!? ** Is somebody or something against us going on this vacation....LOL I am now taking some meds for my back - please, please pain go away....I wanna ride the roller coasters....LOL
The weather here in Alabama is so weird. Last week the temp's were in the 60's during the day...now the next couple of days are going to be in the mid 70's. So I am having a hard time keeping t-shirts & shorts for the kids and my husband to wear when I am wanting to pack them. We are all off Thursday for Veteran's Day , so I am hoping to get all the packing done, and my DHusband is going to get our van ready for take-off.
*** Change in our plans - we are now leaving Saturday (13th) instead of Sunday. We are going to leave around 4:30 am - drive all the way through. DMom & DDad has made us reservations (and paid for the extra night - aren't they the greatest??) about 30 mins away from WDW. (Correct me on that Mom, if I am wrong.) We're going to hopefully get to the hotel around 5 or 6 Saturday evening ( in time to watch the Bama game or my DS will be so upset. He's still a true Bama fan even if we're not #1 ) We are going to get a goodnight sleep and wake up to have an extra full day - I believe we are going to Magic Kingdom on Sunday.
Well, that is all for now - my DH and my DDad are programming the TomToms as I type - and I am going to try to get some more of our clothes pack or organized - I have a big mess!!
BTW - did I mention we are leaving for WDW in 5 DAYS!!!
Goodness I hope you are all feeling super by the time you leave. Yay for an extra day and super sweet of your parents for making that happen.
Good luck with the packing and such!
I hope everyone gets well and your back pain goes away.
Good luck with driving straight through.
We are driving from Oklahoma in 30 days, but we are stopping for the night and picking up my DM in Pensacola. That will break it up nicely.

No you are right on the mark! Except, would you all get well
You all are making me very nervous
We need this vacation very bad maybe that is why it is being so hindered.
Oh well, we will make it. We will just drug you up and your back will be fine
