As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

That could very well be. We were seated in the back and didn't hear any announcement of who was playing - I just assumed it was them!
Whoever they were, they were fantastic.
I'm not sure when they went on the road. I made our ADR through Open Table back at the end of August. I called Raglan Rd to find out when the entertainment started as the time is not fixed. Last December it was 8 pm. now its 7 pm and i plan to call next month to make sure it still is 7 pm. the lady said she wasn't sure who would be there then that Tusker was touring and the pub has had a variety of groups since then. I love that place and the food is always yummy!
and taking the boat from POFQ to DTD is our favorite thing to do while there!

Now here’s where I have to mention the weather. We like going to WDW in September because it still feels like summer, but most of the bad heat and humidity are gone. Plus, you have those little afternoon showers that cool things off to look forward to. But that morning, at about 8:30am, already you could feel the humidity building up. We had watched the Weather Channel and knew they were predicting 90s all this week – something we had not planned on! (And here I always wondered how all you people who vacation at Disney during the summer could stand it. Little did I know we were about to find out first-hand!)
I can't believe I have just found your TR, but I'm so glad I did. I have to respond NOW. We are the same way about the heat. We NEVER go in the summer due to the heat, and we usually go in September. Oh. My. Gosh! It was so hot while we were there. I'm glad someone else felt the same way we did!
Glad you were feeling better and that everyone had fun shopping through DTD (even Kevin ). Sorry that they did not have the steak he was waiting for but it sounds like the replacement made him and everyone else happy and how cool that you were able to catch some of the entertainment. RR is one of those places on my list that everytime I have it on the top, it gets bumped to the bottom, I really have to make it happen as I hear such good things about it.
Glad that everyone enjoyed their "downtime" day, they are so worth it and it sounds like it was what everyone needed to be ready for you next two days.
PassPorter Meets are so much fun – and I have to confess, sometimes I am so excited to meet everyone that I must come across as this crazy, non-stop talking person. But it was wonderful. Anne and I had a nice conversation about traveling and Victoria and I were soon sitting together, pouring over all the incredible drawings she had done for her autograph book. I got to hear a bit about each one of them and let me tell you – this girl has talent!
Thank you! I think she has talent, too. She's never had any lessons, so the possibilities are endless!

What a great TR so far. I am thoroughly enjoying it. I'm sorry your cough returned. I hope it subsides. I got horribly sick. Something was surely in the air at WDW while we were there. I look forward to reading more!
9/17 Our day of rest paid off, as we were up and out to the bus stop the following morning by 8:00am. My cough was much, much better, although still lingering a bit. Today’s Epcot strategy was much like DHS: mad rush to Soarin’ to secure FPs and then ride; over to Test Track and Mission:Space for more FPs and rides – and then the rest of the day could be devoted to World Showcase.
I don’t know what it was about the security CMs at Epcot. Once again they thoroughly unzipped and checked every compartment of my little red Baggallini.
We were one of the first people to reach the turnstiles and while we waited, we chatted with a very nice CM named ‘Carl’ who happened to notice Cory’s birthday button. Out of the blue he asked, “How would you folks like to be Epcot’s First Family of the Day and help open the park?”
Would we !!!
Those of you who have had this honor at Epcot know it’s not the big production that it is at MK or DHS. You don’t actually get to be part of the opening ceremony with Mickey and the Gang. But Carl escorted us through the turnstiles and then got some information from us. He presented us with a certificate and we each got a button to wear that said, “I’m Celebrating Opening Epcot.” He then presented us with a ‘Front of the Line’ Fastpass – good for any attraction that day!!! Wahoo!!!
We stood and chatted with him while we waited for the official countdown. He was a very sweet man and told us all about coming to work for Disney after he retired. (Can you tell Kelley is excited to be First Family?)
It’s an interesting feeling being the only family on the park side of the turnstiles. I told the girls to look back at all the hundreds of pairs of eyes who were watching us! And then we saw in the crowd Josh and Shannon (she was still wearing her bridal Minnie Mouse ears!) – the same newlywed couple that we had seen open DHS two days ago! We went over and told them about how we watched them and I think they were pleased we remembered.
Then Carl came back, scanned our KTTW cards and introduced us to the crowd as we waved. We then got to do the countdown from 5…
5….4…3…2…1…Epcot is open!!!
Everyone else was just scanning their tickets while we were already walking (at a brisk pace!) towards the ropes at the right side of the park. Shannon and Josh caught up with us at the rope and we had a great time talking with them while we waited. They were such a cute couple – I wish we had taken a photo with them.
We were standing at a pathway off to the right of the main rope (closer to Soarin’) as was a huge crowd of people behind us. The Soarin’ CM was there to greet us – he was a tall, handsome man with a dazzling white smile and the charming personality of a game show host.
It wasn’t long before the opening music began and we saw Mickey, Pluto and everyone approaching and we got in the first waves and hellos. We didn’t get to see the Opening as our narrow path was surrounded by landscaping, but our CM and a few others took down the rope and walked us at a steady pace towards The Land pavilion and all the way to Soarin’. Again, I was thankful for the escort and the protection from being trampled! The crowds here were just as thick – but they seemed a bit more civilized than the mob at TSMM.
I grabbed a set of FPs and then we all got in the stand-by line. Even though we had just arrived, we still were the third group of passengers to be boarded on our glider.
Soarin’ is one of Kelley’s favorite rides – and she was so happy to know she’d get a second trip on it today. Kevin had taken his VitaMotion spray as this ride bothered him last trip (he had to close his eyes through most of it.) Today he experienced no motion sickness whatsoever!!! And since it had been 2 yrs. since we had experienced this attraction, the girls had forgotten a lot about it – and Kelley ducked when the golf ball came flying at us!!!
With our flight over California behind us, we walked over to the other side of Future World to get FPs for Test Track and then do Mission:Space. I can’t remember the reason now, but Kevin felt he’d best sit out TT this morning, even though it hadn’t bothered him at all the last trip. The girls were disappointed that they wouldn’t be riding with their dad, but he sat on bench and waited while we entered the line for M:S first.
This was Kelley’s first time on M:S and she was nervous. We were tempted to do the Green Team…but decided against it. Since it was really a walk-on this morning, Kelley didn’t have too much time to think about it – but we had explained to her that it’s almost like a video game – and that she had a job to do to make the mission work. I also found out that the girls and I have a lot more fun when we really get ‘into’ the ride and pretend…so I jumped right in to acting my role as Pilot and the girls followed my example.
Kelley, in fact, took it so seriously, that she had her hand just hovering over her buttons, ready for Mission Control to tell her when to activate them!! And since we didn’t have a fourth person with us, she also reached over and did the Engineer’s job, too!!
I just love M:S!!
We found Kevin waiting for us and looked at the stand-by time for TT; it was at 20 minutes. But a lady who was coming out told us it was a walk-on, so off we went.
I now had two sets of FPs plus my FOTL pass – we were set for more fun this evening. It was still a while before WS opened, and as we were walking, Kevin mentioned again how much he liked Spaceship Earth. Well, let’s do it!
This time we videoed the girls’ future selves – and once more, the ride halted for a few minutes just as we were making our descent back to the present. (That was the 6th time an attraction had stopped while we were on it!) At least we weren’t stalled by the Library of Alexandria <cough, cough.>

It was time for WS to open – but first, Cory reminded us that she wanted to do the Kim Possible mission. We stopped to register and pick up a Kimmunicator and then entered World Showcase.
