As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Angie - So sorry Joey was in a bad mood. I know how hard it is. Once my DS20 gets upset its hard to get him out of it until he's ready. Hope things are better tomrorow!
I your pictures of POFQ at night. I'll be staying there in October and can't wait!

Re: Three strikes & you\'re out trip! 6/6-6/11/06 Updated 7/5 Day 4, part 1!
<font color="purple"> <u>Friday June 9th Day 4, Part 1- Soarin’, Crushin’ and who sponsors MS?</u>
This morning arrived too soon! I’d gone to bed after 3am. But we were both ready and out the door by 8am. The Havens were lagging a little this morning so I stopped by concierge and got a print out of my charges so far. I also decided to try my luck with a coupon that I received with my Magical Express luggage tags for a free DME pin, but showed an expiration date of May 31st. I was in luck; the CM still had and gave me one to keep and one to trade!
The bus to Epcot pulled up as we arrived at the stop. Is this a sign of good things to come? We arrived at the park at 8:45a.m. I noticed a slightly altered set up for bag check, which I thought was better, but I can’t for the life of me remember why. I sent Joey ahead to get into the shortest line at the turnstiles. Once I entered I had to go the furthest to the right before I found him, but it was perfect, since we were going to head to Soarin’ as soon as the ropes dropped!
Once we’d past Spaceship Earth and were heading to the ropes, I called the Havens to let them know, where to meet us. Turns out they weren’t too far behind and caught up with us before rope drop.
Again, I went ahead with the park passes to get FP for Soarin’ and was the first person at the machines! They caught up pretty quick and we decided to hop in line since it was only listing a 20 minute wait. By shear luck we ended up with B1! I had wanted the gang to experience Soarin’ from the best seats in the house!
Everybody enjoyed it, although Joey did want more thrills. It’s funny, a couple of years ago he was such a chicken! Everyone wanted some breakfast and we still had time until our fastpasses were valid, so we grabbed some food at Sunshine Seasons. After we ate I grabbed some Living with the Land FPs and then we walked on in to Soarin’ again. This time we ended up in row C, but still front row, so it wasn’t so bad.
After potty breaks and some pin trading, it was time for LWTL. The CM at the beginning of the FP checked to see if our FPs were valid and waved us in, but the next CM forgot to collect them from us. I was so excited that I’d be able to spread some to a family heading into the standby queue! Sure enough after the ride there was a family of five with 2 small ones and when I offered the FPs the father said “Are you serious?” I said, yup, go right on into the FP queue. There was about a 30-minute wait in standby, by this time. He thanked me profusely and the sigh of relief on his face, at not having to wait, was enough for me.
As we exited the land pavilion, I steered everyone towards The Living Seas and told them to get in line for Turtle Talk with Crush while I ran to get FPs for HISTA. The fastpass time given wasn’t going to allow for us to see TT first, but I took my chances that they’d allow us in with expired ones. Back to the LS and the deceptively long line. Troy teased that this better be a good ride, to which I said it wasn’t a ride. He chided me, but all in good fun. In the meantime I sent the kids to check out the rest of the pavilion, while at least half of us stayed in line. It may have been a 20-minute wait, but it really wasn’t so bad. It was standing room only by the time we entered, but Heidi and I made pretend we were kids and sat on the floor! We were behind all the real kiddos, so we didn’t block anyone’s view. It was another enjoyable show with Crush.
Do you know what determines if a turtle is born a boy or a girl?
Eggs laid in cool sand are boy turtles and eggs laid in hot sand are girls and that’s why dudes are cool and dudettes are hot! You said it Crush!
Next we headed to HISTA and although the CM did a double take when he look at the FPs, we were led into the preshow. The show has seen it’s better days and I can take it or leave it, but the gang wanted to see it. Afterwards, no one wanted to see poor JIYI even though there was a CM at the exit of HISTA trying to get people to head there. I did see the little nook where Figment himself was available for pictures.
We walked towards TT and MS with a pitstop at Club Cool for some Watermelon soda. They used to carry a lechee nut soda that I loved but sadly haven’t had it the past few occasions I’ve been back. When we exited CC we caught part of the Kristos act and then we crossed the breezeway to check on FP return times for TT.
Unfortunately, return was for 6:30-7:30, standby was 60 minutes and single rider was 40 minutes. So we went to MS, where I advised that I would be riding the version or “Green Team”, but everyone else was more than welcome to ride the full throttle version (which should’ve been named the “GREEN” team!). Uncertainty and a shorter standby line won out and everyone but Heidi choice to ride with me. It was only a 10-minute wait standby for the green version as opposed to 40 minutes for the “orange” spinning version. Joey and I had ridden the regular version and thought this one wasn’t bad at all. You still felt that you were on a simulator; you just didn’t get that intense pressure feeling of the regular ride. I gave the chicken version !
Once we exited, Joey was selected to participate in a survey geared just for teens.
It was primarily trying to see if the sponsorship for MS was prevalent throughout. Guess what? Neither one of us remembered seeing anything about who sponsors this ride.
We’d just come from HISTA where they practically stuff KODAK down your throat, but either we were so preoccupied that we didn’t notice or it just wasn’t as in our face at MS.
Do you know who sponsors Mission Space? Here’s a hint: most of us own one or more of their products either at home or at work. I could be using one of their products to type this very report, or to print pictures or to copy something. I’ll let you think about that one.
After Joey finished the survey, we had a group meeting and agreed it was time to start heading out for our afternoon rest. We cut by TT, to check on the times again and the single rider line was down to 30 minutes. Dusty spotted some cute boys entering the SR, so that decided it for us. It was more like a 10-minute wait, enough time for us to walk up and right into the preshow room! Hurray for cute guys!
On the way out we just had to try on some hats
Should I buy this one?
And pose here
I think we stopped by Minnie's Butterfly Garden at this point.
Taking a to send to his friends!
Before we exited the park we rode SE, where I pointed out a HM to the gang and then right in the next scene I spotted a new one! You’ll all have to ride SE with me so I can point it out to you!
Waiting to Enter SE
I didn't get to see much of the Flower & Garden Festival topiaries, let alone cross over to the WS, but there's always next year!
Since M.K was having evening EMH until 2am, we agreed on meeting back up at 8p.m.
We got back to the resort at 3p.m
and got some lunch from the FC. Joey had his usual burger, fries and chocolate shake and I tried the chicken parmigiana with spaghetti and a chocolate dipped Mickey rice Krispie treat for dessert. We took it to go and ate in the comfort of the room.
While eating I snapped some pics
See the Hidden Mickey?
More artwork
At this point I thought if I didn’t go to the pool now, I might not get a chance to, so I changed into my swimsuit. I asked Joey to join me, but he chose to stay in the room and play with his PSP instead.
The main pool at POFQ is the Doubloon Lagoon Pool and it features King Triton (Ariel’s father for those unfamiliar) riding a huge dragon that doubles as a slide.
There is also an Alligator band that shoots water into the pool.
It is a very nice size with enough chairs all around. I set my things on one of them and went to take a quick dip. The water was just the right temperature for me. The slide looked so tempting that I set aside my uneasiness of being an adult, with no child as an excuse, and went down anyway! It was fun, too, but I didn’t go on it again.
I laid out letting the warmth dry me off before I set out to take a few more pictures and to check out Jackson Square gift shop to see if anything called out to me.
Mardi Grogs Pool Bar
There were a few very cute things, but nothing that specifically said Port Orleans French Quarter and since I already have a few souvenirs from the REAL French Quarter I walked out empty handed.
I thought this was cute
Stopped by the FC to refill my mug, the beverage of choice Orange Crush. Boy I miss the frozen cokes at Pop!
My building #4
I got back to the room to find Joey on his cell with his “girlfriend”. I say this in quotations because this is a girl that he “went out” with on and off during 7th & 8th grade. She moved to Jersey that summer and they’ve only kept in touch by technology; via the Internet and cell phones! They seem to still like each other a lot but with the distance, it’s pretty hopeless right now.
I took a quick shower and then we both took naps until about 6:50p.m. We were on our way to MK by 7:10p.m.
Up next – Day 4, part 2 – A magical moment! Who gets the best score on Buzz?

Angie - You're a brave woman venturing out with so little sleep - and not even an afternoon nap! Sounds like you had a good morning at Epcot. I that you gave the FPs to another family when they didn't collect them. What a great way to sprinkle some . I'm a big believer in passing on the magic. It always seems to come back to me when I do.
Just curious, you've been at 2 strikes in the count for a while, did you make it to the end of your trip before strike 3?

What a great day so far Angie Things are looking up! Love the pictures! And yes, I know who sponsors MS, but as you said, I don't recall seeing their name anywhere in the ride

You guys did a ton of stuff at Epcot (thanks to you and your little running feet picking up the fastpasses )!
I am really excited about the chicken side of MS myself - - I never tried the old version!
So sweet of you to give your fastpasses to the family with two young children - - I can say from experience that those were much appreciated!

What a great day so far - and I love your photos of the French Quarter - the theming there is excellent, much better than I remember when we visited it on our honeymoon in 1999. We may have to go for a look round at some point in the future.
