As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

$13 on dinner last night, but I get reimbursed $19 per diem.
Today I need to get gas, and I may go look for another pair of pants or two - I have a $15 off $30 coupon at NY&Co and I really need a couple more pairs!
Okay it's getting close to our last payday of the month..and it's going to wipe me out.
Have to pay the dog kennel, affectionatly named the "doggie hotel" by my dd9 for our trip to WDW. I have to put money aside to buy my theme park ticket, as I have to get it at the gate not pre-buy, have to pay off hotel upgrade that was decided on earlier on in the month, pay off final luggage set, daughters lunches, daughters BBB, daughters insurance.
I just saw the new microsoft commercials that had Bill Gates. Can you imagine what it must be like to go on vacation whenever you needed one, or send your kids to whatever school you thought best, or buy a car because the old one needs new tires, or hire someone to clean for you? So, here we are, thrifty Disney lovers, saving pennies. Imagine what a life of wealth would afford - but we must stop and remember the other gifts we may have been given - children, love, health, intelligence, humor, common sense, faith, beauty, maybe even math skills!
thank you for that perspective! Again, the economy has taken its toll and this show is pretty bad so far. I just don't even know what I'm going to do. I'm trying not to make myself sick over money. Today has been $5 for parking and $15 for lunch. I'm going to try to get sandwich makings to bring lunch tomorrow.

Cheriemek, I agree to a point. Math skills are great, but they won't pay for your trip to WDW!!! I would love to travel much more then I do. I am very jealous of Bill Gates.
$54 on gas. Granted, I was on "E" all the way - to the point where I was actually scared I was going to run out of gas. I never do that, but the gas station I was going to was out of gas, so I just prayed I could make it the 24 miles to another reasonably-priced station.
$65 on a blazer and two shirts for work. I saved $71 on that purchase because of my four $15 off $30 coupons I had. I'm not 100% sure about the blazer - I want to see if it matches the pants I had in mind for it. I really needed pants, but they were out of my size and length for the ones I wanted - I still have one more coupon so I may see if I can find them at another store location this weekend when I'm in Raleigh.
Tomorrow I need to get just a couple of things at the grocery - hopefully that will be it.
Yesterday, DD drove to Penn State to see a football game with our DD. Gas money, food and the motel will probably come to $200. He will get to sit in the student section. My DD told him that everyone STANDS thorughout the entire game. I don't know how an old person like my DH can do that. A friend took me out to dinner for a recent promotion yesterday, so $0 for me. Today, grocery shopping, which usually sets me back about $150. I got several tomatoes this week from a road side stand, and will be making the soup that my late MIL taught me how to make (although I should be cleaning the house!)
Are you talking about the commercial with Bill Gates and Jerry Seinfeld? DH and I laughed so hard - it just pulled us in! DH is in IT, so while it's hard to watch Bill Gates and think about his $$, in a way we owe our own family's income to him.
That said...
yesterday...
$5 on lunch
$10 on dinner for DH and I (DD wanted leftovers, that kid is fabulous!)
$65 at the grocery store
Not sure how much we'll spend today, as we woke up to POURING rain. It might be a stay-home kind of day!

UGH. $30 for a kit of glitter. I felt guilty b/c 9yo was hanging out at the people's booth so much that the lady had to send her "home". DDs LOVE the glitter and have been asking for several shows, so I caved. They are bored out of their minds, poor things. We all are.
$15 for lunch again (long story, no time to get something to bring in for lunch, we were very late as it was with some motorcycle parade thingy that was going on today). Sales have been dreadful and I'm ready to get outta here. Totally bad attitude. I thought I might be sad about the last show thing, but HECK no :
We're driving to Atlanta tonight, so I'll have gas $$ and dinner on the road. Tomorrow will likely be a bit spendy, too, as it's DD's birthday at the American Girl place there, then we can finally start toward home.

$100 at Costco
$12 at Michael's
$37 at Cost Plus - I picked up a shadow box frame with a cool front door to it to display my pins. Thanks for the idea PPer friends!

Today was more expensive than I expected. $10 for lunch for Mama and I -- I rode with her to Lowes to get some stuff to paint a bedroom suite for my sister, and we picked up lunch at Chick-fil-a. I treated since she, you know, lets me live in her house for free. I try to do stuff like that when I can to help even out that she refuses rent from me.
My turn to pay for Mexican, so $26 for dinner and tip tonight (enough for lunch tomorrow). Then $21 at the grocery store for some fruit, yogurt, a few frozen lunches and beer (and limes for the beer). A local gas station had 12-pack of Coke products for 2/$5.50 so I was finally able to stock up on Diet Cokes to take to work after a few weeks of being out - $11 there. It's just amazing how fast you can blow through about 70 bucks, huh...
$300 later...(yes, three HUNDRED) DDs each got a book, an outfit, and an accessory. 9yo also got a second outfit as her b-day gift. Both dolls had their hair done and got their ears pierced. We had a nice lunch at the bistro, along with a birthday cake and goodie bags. It was very $$$, but it was also very nice and DDs both had a nice time. We are eating in our room tonight and driving home tomorrow. Time to seriously buckle down in October...

Been there, done that honey!! Notice my sig pic?? My mom and DMIL and DFIL live about an hour from the AGPlace in L.A. We got DD her first doll for her 6th b'day. Then she used her Christmas/b'day $$ to buy a second one a year later. We got her a third for her 8th b'day. Since then she usually gets an outfit or 2 for Christmas or b'day. She also got some great stuff from DBIL who doesn't have kids and has too much $$ on his hands. I've found some really talented ladies on ebay that are REALLY reasonable. You can PM me if you want.
Ok, so what we spent today...
$60 at Costco (had to make 2 returns/re-purchases), found more to buy
$55 at Wal-Mart (stuck PRETTY close to our list!)
$18 at lunch - Here's what we're doing now at Panda Express. We do the survey on the back of the receipt online (much faster than on the phone). Then DH and I purchase separately, each using a receipt coupon to get DD her chicken AND shrimp. Then we share some of our sides with her. The only cost for DD is her drink. We saved over $3.60!
Dinner's at home tonight, having leftovers.
