Luke's Idea, Cam's Reply PTR Updated 10/9 - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just catching up on this new trip report. What a brilliant idea Luke had and how nice for you especially since your school year is not going great. It will be nice for both of you to enjoy a break. Hopefully your school year is going a bit better now.
Okay - you are inspiring me to try to write a PTR!! I have never managed it so I will have to give it a go for this trip!!! And I'd better get on it or it will be a POST TR!!!

OMG - He's sooooo grown up!!!! And an EAGLE SCOUT!! I can still remember my cute little Tiger Cub! 2016 Reading Goal - 75 books
The plans are looking good! And you reminded me that we want to do Sanaa again! We've only been once (for lunch where we met Lesley) on opening day of Kidani and the three of us thought it quite yummy! On the list for May!!
I remember that trip as that is the one where we all met and Stefanie was so excited to be Tink!!
Can't wait for more! Maybe I should also attempt a ptr/tr. It has been a while!
The picture of Stephanie as Tink...that was the first of your trip reports I'd ever read and I read it as we were thinking of planning our first trip.
Your plans sound great so far - how cool Luke will be celebrating a birthday while you're there!

Ch-Ch-Changes July 2015
[URL="http://www.passporterboards.com/forums/sharing-adventure-disney-world-trip-reports/288847-ch-ch-changes-ptr-july-16-24-a.html"]
We stayed at CBR our 1st trip in 2005. It sure has changed in many ways but still the same in others! We never did make it to the "main" pool as there was a quiet pool right next to our bldg in Martinique. We had it all to ourselves and just couldn't pass it up!
One day (possibly our next trip?) I'd like to go to MNSSHP and F&WF, but until then, I'll just dream by reading your TR!
MNSSHP and F&WF are some of my absolute favorites at WDW!

As of the moment, I haven't planned the 12th yet, but we'll be at MK most of the 11th, so I'm not sure we'll be headed that way, though Touring Plans is showing MK as a best park that day.

OK, I'm intrigued about your notebook- please share details! I'm terrible at keeping notes during the trip and want to do a better job- something tells me you craft a fabulous notebook and I need to see it!!
Looks like we are heading down this month instead of October so we won't be there the same time
Mel
I had noticed the change of dates for you all, My notebook really isn't fancy as I don't have the time right now to be too elaborate. I'll try to get pictures of it though and post them.

And I may be crying, too!

Me, too! As Luke commented a while back, we got her to WDW for Halloween and Christmas once which were on her wish list. In fact, except for a second Disney cruise, we fulfilled her wish list.

Sanaa is a favorite of both of us, so even on a short trip we needed to eat here.
Great plans so far! I love the Premium Outlets! So many good deals!

I can only imagine what WS is like at that time.
We didn't see anything unruly the Saturday we went either, but it was packed in the WS at every booth.

Luke's birthday could be October 9th. In fact, I thought he was so funny when I asked his birthday and he said, "October 8th or 9th." He was born in 1960 one of the first years that the country went to Daylight Savings time during the summer. So he was actually born just after midnight on 10/9, but DST was not official so they moved it back to a little after 11 PM on 10/8.

I'm glad that you and Luke have this opportunity to go back to WDW together before you go again with family. Everything is falling into place so well I just have to believe you are getting lots of pixie dust from your little co-planner.
I loved seeing that photo of MNSSHP with Stefanie. So precious.
I definitely feel the pixie dust from my sweet little kiddo!

The 9th, we have no definite plans other than La Hacienda at 4:45 (however that is subject to change); Via Napoli on the 8th at 4:30 - and the 9th, we depart, but not until evening.
We will definitely be at Epcot on the 9th for the F&WF.

Luke has always wanted to be at WDW for his birthday.
Enjoying reading about your plans. So glad that you have a couples trip planned. We are going to be there Oct. 6-11 and then on the Dream for the 11-14th. This is our first MNSSHP and F&WF. We booked at our home resort 11 months out and at 7 months to the day were only able to get BLT for our entire stay! Starting to be nervous about the crowds! Can't wait to read more...especially about your notebook!

That is so funny. My DH has (sort of) the same issue. He was born near midnight in Greece (he immigrated to the US when he was a year and a half). His mother told him his birthday was August 29, and that is what he celebrated until he turned 16.
When he went to get his drivers license, he had to request his Greek birth certificate. Turns out that according to the hospital he was born on August 28.

Geesh! And I thought my birthdate was bad. It's July 23rd, but when you look at the horoscopes for that date, sometimes I'm a Leo and sometimes I'm a Cancer. In Luke's case he should make it two days of celebrating instead of one!

How interesting! Poor thing had celebrated a day late for too long.

We used to tease Stefanie because her birthday lasted almost the whole month of March. She would tell us we could celebrate for two days.
