Beware Disneyland: PassPorters Are on the Loose - *Updated 6/8/07* - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Heee heeeee! "The Clean Version...." Heck, I'm even a little fuzzy on what was the dirty version, but a vague memory of Karen getting a little frisky with a poor, unsuspecting PhotoPass photographer is coming into focus....
Love the pics on the teacups! "Weeeeeeee" is right!

After relaxing a bit in the room, I joined the Eileen, Sharon, and Tina in the room 5435 for a little bit of grins and giggles. Karen looked much refreshed and the decision was made to head back to DL for the evening. We hopped on the monorail. Well, ducked into the monorail would be a more appropriate term for it. Definitely a different experience with the banking and turns. We found it humorous that the recorded announcement was talking about the new Nemo submarine ride and when it came to the release date, the driver came over the speaker and corrected the date to Summer 2007.
We arrived in Tomorrowland and the group minus myself and Eileen wanted to take a spin on Autopia. My pre-ride photo with the CM standing isn’t as exciting as Eileen’s. He chose to look away at the moment I was taking the picture.
Eileen and I headed up to a prime location for picture taking of the others and their made dash at 5 MPH. I tried to stick around to see the take offs but had to head over to New Orleans Square for dinner with Robin and Cindy at Blue Bayou. With a smile and a wave, I started my trek across the park. I called Robin to let her know I was on my way, and she said they might be a little late. No problemo! As I was exiting Tomorrowland, I grabbed a few shots of SpaceMountain. These are the two that came out somewhat successful. I am blaming it on the new camera. Still haven’t learned all the nifty nighttime features.
After my photo shot of SM, I picked up the pace and dodged the people in my way. I was definitely on a mission. I made my way through Frontierland and right into New Orleans Square. I wasn’t there 2 minutes when Robin and Cindy arrived. Robin checked us in and we grabbed a bench in the waiting area. Within 3 minutes, we were ushered to our table right by the water but behind a tree. But it was by the water.
I knew before sitting down what I was going to have since I had looked at the menus before I left. I ordered the Royal Street Seafood Jambalaya - A robust combination of king crab, jumbo gulf shrimp, mahi mahi, tasso ham, andouille sausage, and chicken, tossed with Cajun-style "dirty rice"
It was a very enjoyable meal. It was great spending some time with Robin and Cindy. The time came for the bill an we asked our waiter if he could split the bill between the three of us. You know, we each pay for our own meal. Simple enough one would think. Well, apparently it confused him. He took the cash Cindy and I gave for our meals and put all of it toward the bill and then charged the remainder (something like $8.00) on the Robin’s gift card.
When we told him that there was a mistake, he took everything and went to find a manager. We were getting a kick at the facial expressions of our waiter while trying to explain what happened and what needed to happen. He came back to the table and explained as best he could on what to do to correct the problem. It was a very confusing situation. I tried to tell Robin not to worry about it and we would figure it out on our own. We eventually kind of understood what he was talking about and sent him on his way. But…not before we got a picture. I hope Robin’s picture came out better but mine made us look like we had halos.
Pay no attention to the blurriness!!
We were one of the last tables to be in the restaurant is we had a great opportunity to get some shots of the restaurant. The ambiance of this restaurant makes it worth coming too.
I said good-bye to Robin and Cindy and headed back to DTD. I called Karen and asked where they were. She told me they were headed towards WoD and I said I would meet them there. As I made my way past the gates, I thought it would be an opportune moment to get the California sign in front of DCA with not that many people.
I made it to WoD in no time flat and started looking around. This shopping trip was for me, knowing I would be back later to pick up the gift to DH. It didn’t take long to fill up my arms. I grabbed a scrapbook almost immediately. I wandered from one end of the store to the other looking at all the goodies and found Eileen. After finding a sweatshirt that I couldn’t live without, we both checked out. I used my coupon that came with my DL tickets and saved a little money.
After shopping, we headed over to Le Brea Bakery where Karen, Sharon, and Janine were grabbing a bit to eat. Eileen ran and got some mac-n-cheese and was sweet enough to purchase a carbonated beverage for me. We sat and talked for awhile under the warmth of the portable heat lamps. We headed back to the rooms. I showed Tina my purchases and then got ready for bed. I know I didn’t last long and was out for the count with an early wake-up call for breakfast.

Nice update, Dawn! You're right, Eileen captured the true essence of the psychotic CM in her photograph. He still looks "odd" in yours though! Sounds like your dinner with Cindy & Robin was in a beautiful spot! Waiting for more!
