As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So glad to hear you are feeling better! I am sorry things did not work out for you with the new job but I have to think that maybe there was some reason for it. I am sure there is something else out there that will be just as perfect for you! Good luck with your speech, it is great that they asked you to be a guest speaker!
I knowhow you feel about thinking you found the perfect match, but the employer not feeling the same way. I have felt the same way about boyfriends! Don't feel too disappointed. There are plenty of fish (jobs) in the sea.
I know exactly how you feel. When I started looking to go back to work I saw that my previous employer was looking for people. I thought great, I left in good standing so I applied. Well after much much debate and so on, they never called me. I heard from friends that there was arguments over letting me come back and where to put me. Many wanted me back but the HR lady kept arguing over it for some unknown reason. I gave up, I had continued looking elsewhere anyway but I figured that that is not where I was supposed to go. At first I was very hurt by all of it but after awhile I realized that it was not meant to be and was just to show me that I can't go back. I needed to go forward and the right place was out there for me. I did find it, just took longer than I wanted. Perhaps this was just to show you that you were not meant to be there, that your real place is where your passion is and that is Disney. I don't think you should give up on Disney, I think that you belong there. Your path may not be direct and may not happen in the way you thought it would but it just might lead you to the right place at the right time. My path did, it led me to a place I had not previously considered and only went there because my former supervisor was now there. Within 1 day, I was called for an interview and had the job before that interview. My old supervisor didn't even know anything about it, but was very happy to see me. You never know what fate has in store for you. Let it lead you where you need to go even if it is not something you had considered before. Good luck in your future. that you and your DD's are feeling better soon.
hope that your move has gaon well and everyone is recovering from the Flu. Still get some rest wehn you can and take it easy on your self. You have had much on your plate and you need to find some time for you.

What a day! Started at 5am and I just got home, but it was the kind of day that just flies by.
Fairly typical work morning. Today was my guest speaker day and I think it went well. It was a combination of magical moments/inspiration. My voice was not the best, but I think I got my points across. After that we had a staff meeting and I had a few more things to do before changing and meeting up with our very own Skateycat, the Manners Fairy, Miss Sheri!!!
We met at the Contemporary for dinner at the Contempo Cafe with a few of her friends from Dreams Take Flight. The effort that goes into this special day was awe-inspiring. We ate dinner, then did the monorail loop, hopping off at the Poly and GF. We got to the Poly beach in perfect time for the water pageant, which was fantastic. Sheri's got some amazing pictures to post later (hopefully, the one with you on the floor comes out! ) I won't give it away, but GORgeous and worth the trip...there's a teaser for ya!
We hopped back to the Contemporary and they were my first non-family passengers in my new Subaru. We had an ooh/ahhh over the moon roof (OK, I showed off) before I drove them "home" to their resort.
All in all, a great day and I really needed one, so thank you, Skateycat!
Tomorrow is my Saturday and I'm taking oldest to the F&WF. She's not been yet and it's just about over, so it's time.
SO much FUN. I like hanging out with the Manners Fairy. We must do it again when we aren't coughing, missy.
