Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Glad that your room was ready early and that Abby did so well on the ribbon hole. Great start to your TR.

Thanks. It was awesome. We do get a kind wheelchair accessible room though so I would think if no one used it the night before, that's why it was ready so early.

Thanks. I'm glad I could finally start it. It's a late start for me but in the past, I've still been posting this far out so I guess it's not too bad. I'm glad the day got better too after the airport. That wasn't a fun way to start it. Abby usually does well with the mini golf if she takes her time and pays attention. It's not the first time she's gotten a low score there.

QUOTE=patclairesmom;4683940]Great start! Wow you all had to get up really early! It's hard to go to bed early and try to sleep especially when you're going to Disney the next day and luckily your room was ready.[/QUOTE]

Thanks. The earlier we get up, the earlier we're in Disney. As for going to be early, for me I was up early on Saturday after working late on Friday so it was easier for me than Lenny and Abby but we did all attempt it.

I'm glad we got all our running around done too. It's not really as bad as it sounds though. We didn't run and race, we got to places when we got there but we did have it all done fairly early. I have trouble with that hole too. I don't know how she managed it.

Thanks Cam. It was a good first day despite the bumps at the airport. Like I said above, we get the king wheelchair accessible room so that probably has something to do with it being ready early.

Thanks. I'm glad to hear we're not the only ones who don't like the noise. If it were only the people, it would probably be one thing but throw in music and tv's and it does get to be a bit much.

Your dinner looked good....I especially thought Lenny's catfish looked mighty tasty!

Lenny said the catfish was really good. I don't care for fish so didn't even try it. I think the reason we luck out with the room is because of the type of room we get. It's not the first time it's been ready early but it doesn't happen every time either.

Thanks Jenn. I'm still amazed Abby got a hole in one on that particular hole. Even the people in front of us who struggled and did do overs quite a few time couldn't believe it.

Monday morning Abby was up at 4:45. Even though my alarm was set for 5:20 my eyes popped open at 5 and I couldn't get back to sleep. I got together whatever I didn't get together Sunday night, I got Lenny up, we all got ready and we got the stuff to the car. We made our way to the TTC and this is where the morning got rough. In the past when we've arrived at the TTC there has usually been at least two forms of transportation running. This morning when we got there the only option we had was the resort monorail and the line was huge. I wasn't happy with this as it was getting late and I didn't think we would make it to the Magic Kingdom in time for our breakfast reservation. I was stressed which means Abby was stressed which in turn made Lenny stressed. He wasn't feeling well and he was still in pain from his seven day stretch of working so needless to say he was a complete jerk about the whole thing. We finally did make it to the Magic Kingdom at about 8, I got Lenny his wheelchair and we got to the Crystal Palace at 8:13. Despite being "on time," Lenny was still being a jerk. He didn't like the scooter, it was uncomfortable and before we even got to the table at CP, he had to go to the restroom and he was kind of rude with how he told us about it. I'll make a long story short and say that we had breakfast, it was good, we saw Tigger and Piglet before we even could get food and we saw Eeyore and Pooh while we were eating.

https://photos.app.goo.gl/mpEt3XnGHdQ8CLET7 (Crystal Palace breakfast)

We left the restaurant about 9:30 and at this point in time we went back to Guest Services to get Abby's DAS. The line was huge when we got there but I still went up the wheelchair ramp to get inside. As I did, I noticed Snow White there all by herself with no line so I called Abby over. She had her picture taken with Snow White and then we got in line again. By the time we got out of Guest Services, and Lenny was finished with the bathroom (again), it was almost 10 - much later than I thought we would be starting. We went to Fantasyland first and got a return time for Peter Pan for just Abby and I. I was going to try and keep the transferring down to a minimum for Lenny, especially this day, and this ride was the one I was most worried about for him this year. Without the ability to slow it down, I wasn't sure if he would be able to get on and off it as quick as he would have to. We then went to our first FP - Enchanted Tales with Belle. Abby was once again picked to play Maurice and when we left there, since Lenny was still in the wheelchair, we went to ride Small World (we always use the wheelchair accessible boat here). I moved the scooter while Abby pushed him there. By the time we were off IASW we were almost to the end of our second Fastpass window. We got right in to see Cinderella and Elena and just like every other year, I could barely hear what was being said. As soon as we walked out of there, Lenny headed to the restroom again while Abby and I turned around and went right back into Fairytale Hall for the other meet and greet and our third Fastpass of the day. Using those back-to-back was pretty much the only thing that went according to how I planned things out for this day.

After we met with Lenny again, he went off to Casey's to stay in some AC while Abby and I went to Peter Pan to use our return time. I always enjoy the ride and today was no different. Abby and I then headed off to Main Street to find Lenny. After finding him and staying in the shade for a few minutes, we headed back out into the sun to take part in the Move It, Shake It dance party. Abby usually does her own thing during dance parties but this year, she had a really great CM showing her all the dance moves and encouraging her to do them. It was nice to see Abby doing like everyone else and having fun with it. After all that moving and shaking for Abby and sitting in the sun for Lenny and I, we wanted a way to cool down so we went to Adventureland to buy the orange cream ice cream at Sunshine Tree Terrace. It was a new to us snack as I promised someone we would try some this year.

We got our treats and stood in the shade to eat them. They were really good and we all enjoyed them. As we did that, I pulled out the Disney device to try and get another Fastpass for the day. I had tried several times since using our third one but I just couldn't seem to get it to work for me. Finally, over by Sunshine Tree Terrace, I got it to work long enough to get a fourth Fastpass for Buzz at 4:25 PM. When we were just about done with the ice cream, it was time to head back to Main Street for the castle show. Abby was afraid she was going to miss it so she kind of ran ahead but I was fine with that. With the bright pink shirt she was wearing, it wasn't overly hard to spot her in the crowd. The castle show was good as always but it was very hot to be sitting or standing out in the sun. When the show was over, Abby wanted to go to Philharmagic so we could be inside some place cool for a bit before waiting for the parade. Abby also wanted to watch The Muppets - which were in Liberty Square right near "our" parade spots - but I wasn't sure we could do both so I convinced her to try the Hall of Presidents. I thought it would be a shorter show and we would be right where we needed to be when it ended.

I was pretty surprised when Abby agreed to it. I don't think Abby has ever seen the show - she usually will go in the American Adventure instead. We all liked the show - it didn't seem as boring as I remember it. What Lenny and I found surprising about it was two security guards were in the theater the whole time. It's sad that Disney has to do that. As I said though, we all liked it but it was longer than I expected so when it was over, Abby wanted to leave ahead of us. I let her go so she could go see the Muppets. She missed a little bit of it but overall was happy with what she saw. I liked it too - it was cute. After the Muppets, we stayed in Liberty Square for the parade. About 2:35, it started to pour but we decided to wait it out. I put on the raincoat, Abby used the umbrella, and Lenny stayed under the canopy. As we sat there, we watched kids playing in the rain. One kid kept laying down in the puddles and his mother would go up to him and splash him. It was really funny. After it stopped pouring, Abby decided to be brave. She put down the umbrella and decided to play with the kids that were still there playing. I had put my camera away so didn't get any photos but I was glad Abby was having a good time. Her clothes and shoes would dry so there was no need in my opinion to tell her to stop.

By 3, the rain was done and the skies were blue again but it was no surprise the parade was delayed. The ground was still wet. Finally, around 3:30 the parade started. From what I remember, it was the full parade minus the Dragon but I don't remember anyone dancing. When the parade was over, we once again headed by Casey's to use the restrooms then we went to Tomorrowland. Abby wanted to check out some of the Incredibles dance party. What a mob scene. It wasn't like in the past when the characters could come off the stage and freely move around. This year as soon as Mr Incredible came off the stage, he was surrounded by so many people he couldn't move. Eventually he was surrounded by five or six cast members that kept guests away from him.

Abby only spent a few minutes there and then wanted to use the Fastpass for Buzz. While we waited in line, I had a question for Abby. "What do you think of leaving the park around 6? We have a really early day tomorrow so if we leave, we could go to bed early." She said she would think about it and I hoped she would agree. The whole day has been off. Some things took longer than I expected - getting to the park from the TTC, breakfast, getting the DAS, the parade. Lenny didn't feel well so he needed the bathroom a lot and he was cranky at times throughout the day. We just couldn't seem to get a momentum going and I didn't feel like I was in the Disney bubble. I truthfully just wanted the day to be over.

After Buzz, Abby wanted to go to the Carousel of Progress. All of the times we have seen this, we've never been seated in the front row but this time we were. Lenny has to go through the line at Buzz in the wheelchair so I think he opted to stay in it for CoP so that could be why we sat in the front. It was still a good view and I would sit there again. Once we were out of the show, Abby said she wanted to have dinner Cosmic Rays and then she would be ready to leave for the night. I wanted to try out the mobile ordering and of all the places - Tomorrowland - I could barely get a signal. I finally got one right outside of the restaurant so I placed our order. We went inside the restaurant and found a table and while waiting for the device to tell me our order was ready, we wiped down the table, got the silverware and condiments etc. It seemed to take forever for our order to be done. When it finally was, I headed up to the counter - the only one with no one at it and picked up our food - a cheeseburger for Abby, the chicken club for Lenny, and the pulled pork plate for me. When I got the food to the table, most of it was lukewarm and in the case of Lenny's chicken, it was cold. The food wasn't raw but it just wasn't hot either. I think there were problems even inside the restaurant with the internet and the device not telling me the food was ready when it actually was.

Looking back, I had frequent issues with the mobile ordering over vacation. My experience ranged from being told in mere minute the order was ready to being notified it was ready after I already had the food at the table. In one instance, I couldn't even tell the restaurant I was there and it had to be done manually by a cast member. It had its frustrating moments but I did like the mobile ordering.

After dinner, we left the park and we were back to the car at 7:30 - a first for us at the MK. Once at the hotel, Lenny and Abby went swimming for a bit while I did my routine of going through receipts and organizing stuff for the next day. Abby made it to bed about 9:30 and I think Lenny and I were in bed shortly thereafter.

It's going to be an "Incredible Summer"

Sorry that your day was a little rough! I can’t believe that Disney didn’t have the ferries running at that time of the morning! That’s crazy and I would’ve gotten cranky too! Great pictures with the Pooh characters and the princesses! Very cute that Abby wore a T-shirt with the Pooh characters on it to dine at Crystal Palace!

Good day in the MK so far. Too bad with the ferry situation as I would have been unhappy too. Nice character interaction with Abby at the CP and in the park.

I know what you mean about things not going according to plan. It does make you feel a little off.
When we were there last week, I commented about all the people standing in the hot sun watching the castle show. I could not do that! : It makes me wilt!

Sorry your morning didn’t start out like you wanted, but you did get a lot done, and it looks like Abby had lots of fun. Hopefully tomorrow will go better and Lenny will feel better.

Even though it was a tough day, it looked like Abbey had a great time. I think your call of leaving the park early was a good one. Hopefully a good night sleep will do the trick

Was it foggy at all the morning you were heading into MK? I have experienced the ferries not running due to fog. However, there was a bus option added to the monorail option when I have seen the ferries down. It is kind of off to the side and hard to see though, so most people don't know to go over to it unless a CM is there directing people.

Sorry your day was off. It happens sometimes, but boy, it can pop that Disney bubble right quick when it does.
I haven't worked with the ordering of food in advance. good to know it might not be the most reliable about letting you know your food is ready!
