A Promise Kept: A Cam and Fam PTR Updated 10/9 - Page 10 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sounds like a great first night! I love Rick Bayless' food, so look forward to your reviews of this one.
We have looked forward to this one a long time since first hearing he was bringing a restaurant to Disney Springs. We didn't want to feel we needed to rush through dinner to get on to something else. So we'll be dining in relaxation.

Of course, if I'm that close to shops, I'll have to stop in and maybe in doing some buying.
, ladies! We initially thought that we wanted to squeeze in a bit of park time, but the more we figured up the time, this plan seemed to work best. We'll see!
Nice first day plans! Love an easy first day! Can't wait for Day Two!!!
We used to go strong on the first day and by evening we were all a bit crabby from travel, head, and being awake for so long. Now we enjoy phasing ourselves into the vacation.

Nice plans for your first day. Looking forward to your experience at Cocina Frontera. I love Rick's programs and also use his marinades/sauces, which are very good!

I love all your plans so far. A nice relaxing evening at Disney Springs is the best way to start a vacation.
I can't not believe how grown up Morgan looks!! I think the first TR I read was the one that she was apart of.
Morgan has grown into a beautiful young woman, but it seems to have happened way too quickly.

I've looked over the menu several times now and there are so many things I want to try.
This morning we’ll head into to Starbucks for some breakfast using our gift cards. I’m thinking I’ll have a chocolate croissant or pumpkin bread since it is fall along with a hot chocolate.
Our FastPass+ selections then come back to back to back. These were the three we most wanted to do here. If we have time between rides, which we should, we’ll squeeze in something nearby. For example, after Buzz, we may try out the refurbished Carousel of Progress. Luke has kept me update with photos on how one of my must dos is progressing. I can’t wait to see all the new vibrant colors for myself. Of course, there will be photos. Even the seat upholstery and carpet have been redone.
· 9:45 - 10:45 AM Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
· 10:45 - 11:45 AM Haunted Mansion
Our FP+ time for the Haunted Mansion overlaps with NanaTink and her crew. We’ve met up a couple of time before, but the last time, none of us thought to take a commemorative photo. I’m thinking we might be able to get all six of us in a PhotoPass photo of us by the hearse after the ride plus some with our own cameras.
· 12:05 - 1:05 PM Pirates of the Caribbean Finally, we’ll catch a bite at a counter service restaurant before finishing off this park for the day. I need to check to see who might have some seasonal fall/Halloween goodies. We often don’t get to try these as we are afraid of spoiling our appetite for an ADR. But there are no ADRs for today.
· Afternoon park hop to Disney’s Hollywood Studios
The plan is to cover all four parks in two days, so we will be splitting our time between two parks each of those days. I’ve read other trip reports where folks made a FP+ selection as they were headed to the next park. So I’m hoping as we transfer by bus from MK to DHS, I can snag a FP+ for something. Once we finish that ride/attraction, we’ll make another FP+ or find an attraction with a short standby time. It would be great if we could get TSMM, but I won’t pout if we can’t. We should be able to get ToT and Luke can ride RnRC in the single rider line. Dinner will again be counter service. We had hoped to catch Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular, but the Disney calendar only has it showing through September 24, so I guess we’ll be missing that. UPDATE: As of today (8/14), the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular is on the calendar for this evening. Now I’m impatiently waiting for it to show up on Monday, October 3 as that is the only day I’ve planned for the portion of the trip with the Vaughns. Fingers crossed!
yay!!! I was thinking the same thing--now that they have the photopass photographer, that would be an awesome picture! Great minds and all that!
I did not know about CoP re-do! I love that...Dave not so much, but I bet in Sept heat he'd be more than willing to take a nap in the cool. Besides, I want the littles to see it

That's a great goal with all four parks in two days! Don't go crazy and just do what you can as you are on vacation and take it at a relaxing pace, which is the best way to go!
You will at WDW for several days, so you have time to do all four parks. Even though you have a ParkHopper, which I do as well. I will only be doing this on certain days. Down time, back at your resort to relax and perhaps, some pool time may be good as well!
Nice choices with your FP+s!

This is the day I'm really sad to read about, as originally we were due to be back in WDW and would've been able to finally meet you. I can't believe we've come so close and then we ended up flying up to NYC. I am so sorry things didn't work out for a meet, given we're both in Florida that day.
Your F/P picks for this day look great! I didn't know that they did a refurb on the CP!!! I've been saying for years now that it looked so run down and it would make me sad because it was an attraction that Walt had so much input into. I'll look forward to seeing some pictures from you on that one for sure! It's nice to have a day here and there where you have no ADR's planned, so that you can just wing it and do whatever you want, when you want!
Actually, you can make a new FP+ as soon as you scan your band at the third one. So, if POC has a wait in the FP+ line and you can get a wi-fi signal inside the bldg, you could go ahead and make a FP while you're waiting! I was using an older smartphone on our June trip, and I couldn't always get a signal inside queues.
I recall reading somewhere about a refurb at CoP. I'm glad, as it has been looking very tired the last few years. Can't wait to see the bright new colors!
