As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great start to the day! Glad that most of the lines were short Sorry you didn't care for Flame Tree, it's one of our favorites too. They do give you a ton of food though!
Love all the photos. Where DID the broken tracks go? I've never ridden this ride and never will, but I'm curious... Don't you go up the tracks to where they're tangled and broken and then go backwards?

What a great day at AK. Love all the ride photos looked like everyone was having a great time. So glad the boys got to ride KRR, I remember the first time Angel was old enough to ride alone on a ride, she was so excited that she was a "big girl now"....LOL
Sounded like a great start to AK! I bet the boys felt like such big boys going by themselves on KRR!
We love FTB, sorry it wasn't so good for you. Hopefully it was just an off day. We always split food because it is a lot!
I love the bats!!!
They were so excited to be on their own.

I don't see that happening. There will come a day, soon, that if I want to see one of those shows I'll have to go in by myself. I won't mind.

It wasn't bad tasting and I loved the beans. It's just that maybe I was expecting the ribs to be fall off the bone and smothered in bbq sauce?

Exactly! When we got up there, where the train stops and then you go backwards, the tangled and broken part of the track wasn't there. I wish I'd taken a photo but of course I'm too chicken to have anything in my hands. The track looked so odd without that. I thought I was crazy but my family confirmed that it was indeed missing.
Interesting about the broken tracks. Wonder what happened??
Your day is going well so far. We like Flame Tree too, but it may depend on what you order...I think we got a salad and BBQ pork sandwich.
The missing track remains a mystery. You'll see later on in the trip.

They were super excited! Meanwhile, I'm over here hysterical, having 1000 thoughts going through my head. On the other hand, AJ is old enough too but he won't do anything unless he has his momma beside him. I suggested a million times that he go through the single-rider line, since I can't do long queues, but he refused. So much for being an independent teenager.
Looks like a great day at AK!! You some great pictures on the safari and the exploration trails. I hate to quickly go past the bat pictures, they freak me out!!

Such a great time at the AK and so many great photos! Loved those of KS. That's quite odd about the tracks at EE! Sorry, that your meal at FTB wasn't all that great! I've ate there on a few occasions and is probably my favorite CS in the parks.

Looks like all of you enjoyed your AK time! I can't wait to see the FotLK in its new home.
I love that it's so close now. You don't have to go over to Camp Minnie-Mickey to see it.

I know it's a favorite, that's why I was so surprised I didn't like it that much. But then again, on my last trip, I didn't enjoy 50's PTC. I know, the horror!
Back in the room, I started on some laundry while Adriel and Abniel took turns getting bubble baths in the big pool. The rest of us took showers and chilled a little. Then it was time to head to MK.
We got on the bus and headed to the park, which to me takes an eternity to get there. After passing the MK tolls on our way to the bus stop, what usually takes 5 minutes took more than 20 minutes. There was lots of traffic and I have no idea why.
We finally arrived at the bus stop and made our way into the park. And I got my first glimpse of the castle.
We got some pictures on Main St.
We continued our way through the park.
Our first FP+ was for 7 Dwarfs Mine Train. The wait time was 60+ minutes. My kids weren't all that impressed with the ride. I thought it was cute but not worth a long wait.
We wandered around FL, taking in the sights. The boys were very annoying, being little brats.
Our next FP+ was up. Enchanted Tales with Belle was my choice and a first for all of us. I tried to get the boys to volunteer but wouldn't. Anyways, I loved the show.
We took the walkway between FL and TL.
Adriel felt like being silly.
At this point I was just stalling as I had a surprise for my boys. We were booked for the Dessert Party.
We browsed the stores around TL. Then I left the boys behind while I went to enquire on where I had to check in. Of course, since I love to walk, I took the scenic route towards Tomorrowland Terrace. I was given the info and then went back to the gang.
We had another FP+ for Under the Sea, although there was really no need because there was no wait time.
(These photos were taken with my cellphone, so they're not the best)
Then the kids wanted to ride the Speedway but the wait was too long.
Finally, it was time to queue up for the party. The boys were full of questions but I just told them they had to be patient. Well that didn't last long because this other family was talking and the dad mentioned that we were going to watch the fireworks from here. Ok, they knew that but they didn't know the rest.
Waiting for the surprise
I checked us in, they gave us our wristbands, and took us to our table. That's when I finally explained what was happening. My guys were all impressed, especially Arben.
We got up and filled our plates with delicious sweets. Even Abniel, who isn't a sweets person, found things he liked.
When the time was approaching for the castle show to start, we went up to the railing. I took only a couple of photos and just enjoyed the show.
Then it was time for Wishes. I must say that the view from here is not perfect, I much prefer to watch from the hub or Main St. But nothing beats the fact that you don't have to get a spot an hour early. You sit, eat some dessert and then go to the railing 5 minutes before the start of the show. Plus, you get to see Tinkerbell up close.
Overall, the Dessert Party was good. For me it's not a do-it-every-time event.
We still weren't quite done with MK. We rode Buzz with hardly any wait, where I proceeded to have the worst and most pathetic score anyone has ever had. It wasn't even worthy of a picture. I think a baby could've gotten a better score than me.
Moving on...
We took a couple of more family pictures.
Adriel needed a bathroom break and I don't know why, but we ended up at the Tangled area bathrooms. At least I got to see the area at night which, btw, is beautiful. After that we wanted to ride IaSW but we just decided to head back to the resort.
We waited about 20 minutes for a bus. Everyone was so tired. Adriel and Abniel fell asleep in the bus. Poor things! Of course, long gone are the years where we could just pick them up in our arms and take them up to the room. So when we got to Kidani I had to wake them up. Thankfully our room was close to the elevators so they didn't have to trek 2,000 miles to get to there.
Everyone changed and jumped into bed. I don't think the door was closed completely before we were tucked in and off to dreamland.
Sounds like a nice evening at MK. Sorry you weren't impressed with the Mine Train. The dessert party sounds like it was a big hit. Great pictures for the fireworks!!
