As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Ok I am finally caught up! I love how the safari was different every time you went on it! I could do that all day! Katie saw one of the pictures of Emily (at AK) and said I have that shirt (Lion king)!
Awesome pictures and love how Emily is enjoying her trip and rides!!!!
Love all of the safari pictures and who could get tired of them. Seem like it was such a good day and wow you got to ride it 4 times. Glad you were not in MK with those thunder storms.
Her birthday seemed to be a real magical one and loved the matching t-shirts that you guys had on.
Thanks!! The safari is probably my most favorite attraction!!! And you're right - it is always different!

I love that big Stitch, but more than that I love the look on Emily's face as she hugs him. I guess little girls never outgrow their stuffies. I think Juliana will be just the same!
Thanks - I have heard that some people have never seen the gangster version - it's funny - we have always gotten that side - but we did learn that it is all in the matter of which tram you are sat in - so you are probably correct about the wheelchair line!
Yes - I did end up saving a lot of $$$!

Thanks!!! Oh man - don't let Emily know about that Duffy (although I am sure she does not as she has been stalking this thread )!

I really hope you guys do get to do the Western side of the Great Movie Ride. It certainly sounds promising!
Thanks!! She was and still is thrilled to have that Stitch!!! She has probably at least a dozen Stitch stuffies BUT this one is her Favorite!!!

Thanks! Yes - sometimes I wonder about her - as much as she loves the thrill rides - she really loves to just sit back and take it all in too!

I have those Mickey shoes too - and they are quite comfy! Even kept me dry in one of those FL downpours once! I'm with you on the one stuffie/trip. We're already overflowing and the boys are only 3 & 6!
Thanks! Glad that I am not the only "meanie"!

What a great night at DHS! How nice the CM was so great telling you when they were going to run the Western side (I hope it pans out to be true)! Love the new stuffie!
Glad the birthday girl got to spend the day the way she wanted to.
Love the Stitch pillow pet. That thing is huge.
Love, love, love the PP pics. The one of her hugging it and the look on her face is priceless.

Today was that day that we all dread, no matter how long or short our trip is, check out day.
After we woke and finished with showers and packing up we brought our bags over to bell services to check them for the day ~ at least our flight was not until later so we had a good part of the day to play in the parks.
After checking our bags……..and the Giant Stitch (couldn’t believe Em was willing to let him out of her sight!) we headed over to Everything Pop to grab some breakfast. We both chose the Pop Waffle Platter! Emily was in heaven!
After breakfast we hopped on the DHS bus ~ arriving in the park around 9:30ish.
We headed straight back to the GMR, Emily went up to the CM at the FP entrance, said the name of the CM from the night before – she knew exactly what we were talking about and we were sent down the line!
We were finally getting the Western Version!!!!
Here is a little hint for those of you that would like to try to get this version if you have never……when you enter the loading area, if there are 4 “cars”, the 2 in the front will go on the Western side, the 2 in the back will go the Gangster side!
After our exciting new to us version of the GMR Emily was quite content!
We headed over to TSM for one more ride on that! And Emily scored higher than me again, BUT again, my accuracy was better!
Having completed her mission for this park, it was time to head out ~ but not without first stopping for some Photopass photos!
Each and every one of our trips to WDW begins and ends with Magic Kingdom ~ so we grabbed the bus to the TTC. Then we were heading up to the monorail – and Emily found a new little friend along the way! He was so cute!
We arrived in Magic Kingdom fairly quickly – and remember we had originally supposed to have gone to Epcot for Akershus this morning – so that is where our original FP+ options were for the day, but because we cancelled that breakfast, Emily decided she was okay with skipping Epcot this trip (this was a first for us!!!) and she was able to go right into the app and switch all our FP+ options to MK today!
So we got on the train (yes, my feet and knee were still being incredibly stubborn!) to head to the back of the park to Fantasyland, as we were a little early for our FP+ options, but we were able to walk right onto Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid.
Then our first FP+ was ripe – for a ride on Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin!
I think I was checking to make sure she was not scoring higher than me!!!
We were getting a bit hungry and we were right there, so we stopped in at Cosmic Rays. I had the bacon cheeseburger, and Emily had the pork sandwich.
Our next FP+ was for the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor! We always enjoy this show! I love how they find the most unsuspecting person to be “that guy!”
And yes, our final ride (which is always the first ride!) was Space Mountain!
It was nearing time that we had to head back for that dreaded ride (DME), but not without stopping for a few photopass photos on Main Street!
We hopped on the bus back to POP, and while I grabbed our bags from Bell Services, Emily went in to get an ice cream!!! Bottomless pit I tell ya!!
Our flight was at 6:50, but we had to be back at POP for 3:30 DME pick up – this part I don’t like, only because it seems that our flights never take off on time, and you get to the airport so early and just sit there ~ all the while I am thinking of all the fun I could be having in the park! Oh well!
Emily will KILL me for showing you all this (at least I didn’t put it on FB!!!), but this was about 15 minutes into the ride on the DME!!! I believe this sums it all up!!! GREAT TIMES!!!
So needless to say, our ride to the airport was pretty quiet. We arrived at MCO with plenty of time to spare, and of course, our flight was a bit late, but not too bad. We arrived back in Providence with Scott picking us up!
Oh yeah – and the Giant Stitch…………….when we got on the plane (with Em holding Stitch), the pilot was standing there and he asked if Stitch had a ticket!!!………..we got a nice laugh out of it!!! And Stitch made for a nice pillow for Emily!
Up next: Wrap Up and final thoughts!
