Let's Start at the very beginning - PTR:August 17-31 2014 - Page 10 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sounds like a fun day at AK even if you don't get a chance to fit everything in. It's true, that park gets so hot and humid I rarely stay much past noon on warm days. The Wilderness Explorer activities are really a lot of fun, and they sneak in a lot of educational value, too. The kids seem to really like completing the whole booklet and getting all their stamps and badges, so I'm not sure if they'll enjoy it as much if they're just doing a few, although a lot of people don't have time to do every badge. You don't need to do it all on one day. Just keep the booklet for another visit.
Great plans! Fingers crossed for a second Fantasmic!
Thanks

Just an FYI, Buzz & Woody are usually out later, so maybe try to get Phineas & Ferb first?
Thanks for the info

I've been checking the website but I know we still have lots of time.

Me too - thanks
So a quick Wrigley update, he goes back for a doctor visit on Saturday and I assume we will reduce his medicines. The other day I found a half dissolved pill on the floor so unbeknownst to me he has already started to reduce his meds. I have purchased stairs for him to use to get onto the bed but he really doesn't like them. My entire bed is barricaded except for the one spot where I get in and out and the steps are open for him. I was changing into my PJ's and Wrigley snuck in and jumped onto the bed - avoiding the steps. He made it on OK which is a good sign but he is still on restrictions for jumping and afraid of what will happen if he keeps doing it. The steps are there and so much easier. He doesn't mind the steps in the house just up onto the bed. And I even bought nice big study steps. I had a cheap set when Trixie hurt her back and she uses them all the time but they are plastic and she only weighs 18 pounds. Wrigley is like 35 pounds and was too heavy so I bought these new ones (and wouldn't you know it, Trixie doesn't like the new ones) well someday when I can get my bedroom back in order I will need to train BOTH dogs to use the one set of steps.
I am hoping that I can at least get my living room back by removing the gates and chairs and allowing Wrigley onto the couch as that is much lower than my bed. He has been up on the couch but again using the little steps I have but that is only because that is the only way onto the couch at the moment. I'll see what the doctor says but think he will be OK to jump onto the couch.
Wrigley did do a little back scratch this morning by rolling onto his back a wiggling around. He has also restarted his not so nice habit of humping. Only my dog - he humps the covers as I'm getting into bed and getting myself settled. I literally have to yank them away from him and shush him out of the way and then he will lie down. I guess that is the "male" in him. Some things never change.

After 2 full park days today is a more “relaxed” day…well...sort of . Today we will hit up one of the water parks.
Another breakfast in the room and then over to Blizzard Beach. The parks open at 9 at this point and I’d like to arrive close to that to take advantage of the lowest crowds. The boys have never been to a Disney water park.
We have however been to several water parks at home and at the Jersey shore so I know this won’t be a very relaxing time. I choose BB over TL because I think the tween area of Ski Patrol Training Camp will be ideal for the boys. I like the wave pool better at TL but really as long as I get on the lazy river I’ll be happy. I hope to do the family raft ride but Evan isn’t a big fan of the huge slides so time will tell.
I would also like to play a round of mini golf today as well. This is something I’ve never done on Disney property so that would be something new for all of us.
The sun can be so draining so I seriously doubt we will make it until 7pm closing. I know at the parks at home Evan can usually go until about 2pm but those are much smaller parks. I’m leaving the entire day open so if we stay – we stay and if we don’t – we don’t.
Lunch will counter service somewhere at BB, any recommendations? Is BB the one with the donuts? I’d love to rent a cabana but in all honesty we will be chasing after the boys all day so really wouldn’t have time to enjoy it. Someday I’ll get to do that either at a deluxe resort or on Castaway cay – dare to dream!!!
Cute Story: We went to BB when my nice, now 19 was about 5. There were geckos all over the place and we started calling it Lizard Beach. She would try to correct us and we kept saying “no it’s Lizard Beach, Disney forgot to make new signs and remove all the snow”. She was so cute. She was at that age were she didn’t know for sure if she should believe us or not. Even today we still all call if Lizard Beach. It makes me smile to think how sweet and cute and young and innocent kids can be.
Anyway, tonight I have marked as a DTD night. I have no idea how the construction may or may not impact our plans but I hope to do the West Side and Pleasure Island as I think those 2 areas have the least amount of stores the boys will like and the most walking so if we can do those 2 areas tonight and we can come back another time just for the Market Place stores. I’d like to try Wolf Gang Pucks (counter) for dinner over on the WS not the Market Place. I think it is called The Express at Wolf Gang Puck Grand Café, NOT Wolfgang Puck Express. This will be a first for all of us.
I want to check out the Candy Cauldron and the boys will love the Harley Davidson store. But really we will just stroll along and see what strikes our fancy. Perhaps if we feel up to it we may catch a movie or bowl a few frames. Do they still have the Magic shop over on the West Side?
If we are still motivated by the time we hit the Market Place we might pop into the Lego Store – I’m sure coming out a little lighter in the wallet and also Basin – never done that but heard nice things and possible Ghirardelli for some dessert.
Pray that the boys don’t see Disney Quest and want to do that. I really wasn’t planning on a visit this trip and currently they don’t know it even exist. I have several days/evenings open that we could go if need be, but I’d rather just skip it this trip. I could care less about it and I’ve been before. I do have some arcade time planned at the hotel. I know all I’ll do is follow Evan around for a few hours so I’d rather just not go at all. We’ll see how that works out.
Firsts:
Evan – Blizzard Beach, Mini Golf, DTD(WS/PI), Exp@WGP
Me – Mini Golf, Exp@WGP
Mom – Blizzard Beach, Mini Golf, DTD(WS/PI), Exp@WGP
Eric – Blizzard Beach, Mini Golf, DTD(WS/PI), Exp@WGP
Sounds like a great "non park" day! I'm still torn on whether we will do TL or BB on our upcoming trip too, because like you, I'm happy with a lazy river and don't care much about the rest!
Finally checking in! Your trip sounds amazing so far. I remember Spirit Week and Wacky Wednesday when I was in elementary school. Do they still do square dancing and anything goes in gym? I think that's what it was called when they did dances from different decades. Not sure if that was just my elementary or the whole district.
