Star Wars Weekends: Episode IV - New Hope(s) May/June 2012 - Page 10 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Sounds like a fun weekend! If I remember correctly, Lexi's face painting at Disney came off easily in the bath tub. I think she wore it overnight and then we washed it off in the bath the next morning.
I did not know that Target sold Crocs now, I am going to have to check that out for Lexi.
Good to know about the face paint at Disney!
Kohl's is also carrying crocs now, but Target was cheaper.

He is super cute! The Zebra face is really cool.
I love to use the Mickey plates - makes me smile.
We did have a lot of good food - love to eat!
Thanks about Lukas! That shirt was Dylan's. I'll have to find a pic of Dylan in it and see how much the look alike (or different now).

My girls have gotten the face paint at Disney several times and it was easy to remove with some soap, water and a washcloth (though I'm sure the hotel wasn't too happy about all the make up on the towels )
I used baby wipes at Cheesecake Factory to take it off - he wanted it off. It took a few but was easy to wipe right off.

I'm stroller obssessed............what kind of stroller was Lukas in in that pic?? Have a 20% off coupon for strollers at Babies R Us and I'm itching to use it on a beefy umbrella stroller I saw
Grab some Pond's or Dove face wipes for the boys next time for the face painting. They work much better than scrubbing their poor little faces with a washcloth, plus you can just ditch all the mess too. Dylan looks great as a Zebra. Another perfect weekend with Kelly and her boys!!!
That was the sit n stand.
Baby wipes worked pretty good for the paint too - it's what I had available.
Aw! Thanks Linny!

I'm not sure how to get the filling in, but otherwise i think it would be pretty easy. They just topped the cupcake with the cereal.
What a fun weekend! Those cupcakes are HUGE! We really like the St. Louis Zoo. Dylan's Zebra face paint is adorable! Stefanie was just asking about Cheesecake Factory this weekend. We don't have one nearby, but we've eaten at the one in Nashville before our flight one time and she keeps wondering if we'll do it again.
So when in the heck (couldn't use the other word) were you going to tell me you had started this thing?!?!?!?!?! Umm...it's been almost a month! I don't understand how this could have slipped past me, and now I have to go back and catch up! Instead of sending me messages about margaritas you should have been sending me messages about this TR!!!
Those cupcakes looked AMAZING!!! I would not be able to eat one of them in a single sitting though because just the thought of it makes my stomach hurt. So far your plans sound great, except for the fact that we're now not going to be able to meet up.

Some of us are trying to decide when we could all get together in the world at the same time and I think we’re out to 2015 now before it will happen. L We will however be meeting up with Cam & family! And we’re excited about that.

If you both would have been down there at that time you could have helped me celebrate Hope's birthday. Still bummed that you guys won't be there when we are. But, I said it before and I'll say it again, we better not be waiting until 2015!!!
that is crazy how different Dylan and Lukas look in those pics!
great plans so far, wish we were going in a couple months although I am sure Disney would rather me not deliver a baby on Main Street. Oh well, guess I have to live thru you until we get back in the fall!

Next time you come up to the zoo you'll have to let us know. We became members in October so we go even more now - especially since the weather has been so nice. Sounds like you might have lunch plans the day you leave.

I barely finished half and was a bit uncomfortable too.
I'm sad we won't all be there too. I almost got excited from some texts Linny sent me last night/this am, but our dreams were crushed once again.
There's a possibility we'll be going next spring (for a wedding) now, but I don't know details yet. We'd have to cancel cruise plans though because we certainly won't be doing both.

That would make for a very interesting birth story.

I had a CitiMini and I highly reccommend them.
Kelly what a great weekend, evan had his first "musical" at church and was very cute. My dog got bit by another dog and ended up getting stitches but other than that - things were great. I got Evan some crocs and Target a few weeks back it's just getting nice enough for him to be able to wear them. I got is face painted and it washed off easily, I think my newphew's wore off his lips because he licks his lips all the time but Evan's stayed pretty much in place. It wasn't really hot so he didn't sweat. I have read I think in AllEars that if you save your receipt you can get free touch-ups done to the face painting through out the day.
I love seeing the Dylan and Lukas comparison shots. They're not as alike as they were a few months ago, but if Dylan's hair was brushed to the side they'd look pretty close! I could tell which was which in the last set you posted and I certainly can now. In that last set they were nearly identical, but there was just something "Dylanish" about Dylan!

Sorry to hear about your dog. Hope he/she is doing ok. I want to see some pics of Evan at his musical. That sounds so cute!
Thanks for the face paint tips!

Lukas is definitely taking on his own characteristics. We're going through some rough times with him too - he has been CRABBY at night and has not like bath time the past couple of nights.
