A Very Merry Surprise ~ The TR (11/4/11 - 11/12/11) - Page 10 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I get tired and cranky without a break from touring, too. Glad the girls recovered quickly and everyone enjoyed the rest of the day. That meal looks wonderful! It's been many years since I've eaten there (I think it was still Kraft-sponsored at the time) and I think it's time to return!

Great day at AK and Epcot. I know what you mean about taking breaks I learned that the hard way after our trip last year, needless to say there were lots pf breaks this time around. Garden Grill is awesome we were suppose to eat there this time but things got changed around and we had to cancel but will definitely keep it in mind for next year.

I don't think you would be disappointed, it was one of the top meals we've had at Disney!

I should have known better and planned better break time, but I definitely learned my lesson

Sorry you missed Garden Grill this time around!

Day 6, Part 1 - 11/9/11 - Finally some relaxation....
We had no alarms set for this morning, but of course I was awake at 7:30 and could not get back to sleep. Isn't that always the case?? It's rare that I get a day to sleep in, but when I do I have a hard time sleeping late . Instead of bothering Chris by tossing and turning I decided to get myself up and head out to the living room. I made myself some coffee and sat on the couch just enjoying the peace and quiet while everyone else slept . Kaeli and Abby woke up around 8:15 and Chris was up shortly after that (lets just say that my girls don't understand the concept of "indoor voices" ). We enjoyed a lazy morning in the room, I made us a delicious breakfast of pancakes, bacon, fruit and OJ (and more coffee for me!) which really hit the spot. During breakfast I let the girls in on another surprise, that we would be going to the MK for MVMCP tonight. They really enjoyed MNSSHP last year, so they were beyond excited about the Christmas party !
I had been texting my Aunt Lorraine back and forth all morning, the plan was for her and my Aunt Christine to meet us down by the pool between 10 and 10:30. I sent her a final text to let her know that we were running on schedule and would be heading down to the pool shortly. It was probably about 10 after 10 when we left our room, it was a beautiful morning but we were surprised to see how empty the pool was!
We headed first to the pool with the pirate ship play area, it was closest to our building. Kaeli and Abby had fun splashing around and playing on the ship while I snapped some more pics of the resort.
I got a text from Aunt Lorraine letting me know that they had arrived so I had Chris get the girls for one last surprise. He stood them by the edge of the pool, facing him, and on the count of three he had them turn around to see both Aunt Lorraine and Aunt Christine standing there. Well, they were just as confused as they were the morning we revealed our surprise about the trip, but they did get a little giddy when I explained that they would be tagging along to the party with us tonight.
We had a great time splashing around the pool and soaking up the sun, but the girls decided it was time for some water slide fun. We grabbed our things and headed over to the Pirate Plunge pool, making a pit stop at the poolside gift stand for some swimmies for Abby. She doesn't really need them, but asked for a pair to use on the slide and if that made her more comfortable I was happy to buy them for her. I was expecting them to be ridiculously overpriced, but was pleasantly surprised to see that they were only a couple of dollars .
The girls just loved the water slide. They just kept going back for more and had a ball doing it.
We attempted to do a little playing in the splash zone, but the water was freezing! I wish they could figure out a way to get that water heated like the pools.
We worked up an appetite playing in the pool and headed over to the poolside restaurant to grab some lunch before saying goodbye to Aunt Lorraine and Aunt Christine. It was about 1:30 when they left to get themselves cleaned up at their hotel. We decided to head up to our room to do the same, we had a party to get ready for of course!
First of all, I feel you on the meltdown situations. I had a couple of those on this past trip and let me tell you they are not pleasant. Cranky kids lead to a very cranky and stressed mommy. Not good.
Anyways, your dinner at Garden Grill looked delicious. Glad you enjoyed it!
What a great relaxing morning! The pool area of the resort looks like lots of fun.
Can't wait to read about the party!

I am really enjoying your report. I have already added a few things to our trip based on things you have reported were fun. First I have to try the Chip and Dale Sing-a-long and campfire movie, second the kids would love the Duffy kidcot stations and third we will have to eat at Garden Grill. Thanks for sharing! I look forward to hearing how the rest of the trip went!

Enjoyed reading your TR so far! Your girls are so cute! Love all your pics! Can't wait to hear more!
Thanks for reading along! I think they're pretty cute myself, but I might be just a little biased

Thanks for reading along! I'm glad that you found some new things to try on your next trip!
Glad the girls got back in the mood fairly quickly at Epcot! I have been so happy that I finally got the Disney family decals at Mouse Gear back in June. They always make me smile when I see them on my car. Garden Grill is a huge favorite with us for both the food and the character interaction.
Nice to have a morning of relaxation built in and breakfast sounded very ! That pool looks very fun!
I just found this TR and just started reading and HAD to stop because you found monster ballads by Journey on the radio...........going back to read more now!!
