Spooky Foodie Fun - TR from Adventurous Stranger!! - Page 10 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

ok me again. now all caught up. I AM SO JEALOUS OF YOUR TRIP.
whew! had to get that out first!
you did the exact trip i wanted to do but couldn't (my stupid husband's birthday is on the 9th and that's always the weekend of the Food and Wine Classic, so I'd be a terrible wife if I abandoned him for WDW--and no, he can't come with me.)
i am going next year. yes i am. next year, i am going. and i'm going to do the party for the senses, too. and i'm going to pay the extra for the wine view lounge. yes yes yes. i will do all of these things.
thanks for costing me lots of money with this trip report! can't wait for more!
perhaps reading this can be my new diet plan. i'll just READ about food instead of eating it. because whatever i'm making tonight for dinner isn't nearly as good as any of the bites from party for the senses!
Glad to hear you had such a good tyime at party for the senses Jen You DESERVED it However after reading it my Liver wants to go to rehab. That much AB's after years of abstinence would probably put it into shock
Slowly catching up on TRs now that we're back from our trip. (Wish I could say we were going back as quickly as you are) Anyway, all caught up on your trip and what a trip so far. I thought of you when we were down there 2 weeks ago when we stopped at the Swalphin to pick up passengers and people were walking on with their little Starbucks cups. Wish Disney had some Starbucks.
The sushi and the lobster roll look devine from the F&WC. And wow!! What a party that P4TS!! That food sounded amazing!
Love the pic of you all and Rafiki. I never actually noticed his bum before. My boys would have had a field day with that! (All of them!!)

You have now totally made me want to go to the P4TS except for my limited capacity the price tag isn't worth it.
This is true but what an experience it was!

I def didn't eat all of everything, more like a taste. That way I was able to walk out on my own two feet rather than being rolled out!

Put it on your bucket list. I didn't see much of the festival since I snuck in IG and we didn't really get serious about it until Monday. I don't like to go on the weekends either.

Honestly, you could still really enjoy the party without the ABs!

Hahahaha! In the mornings when we boarded the busses with our SB cups then pick up folks from other resorts with the red styrofoam WDW cups we secretly giggled as they looked starry eyed at our cups.
Day Four - Sunday, October 9th Our day of (much needed) rest!
After three nights of some serious late night partying, we all decided to take a break.
First, we slept until 10:30. Made some Starbucks, showered, moved slowly (go figure). It was STILL raining but we were excited to get down to the Cabana pool bar for those food and bev specials during the game that were advertised in the resort. I started calling the bar around 11am to get some info but there was no answer. Hmmmm......... must already be busy!
At noon I called again with no success so we just headed down there ready to wing it. Once we reached the bar we realized why there was no answer on the phone - the bar was closed!! Seriously??? It was undercover so what gives?? A little rain and some chilly weather gonna stop us from watching football?? I think not. We were actually not the only weirdos looking to catch the Giants game. There were two gentlemen there when we arrived and they were trying to get the tvs on. Well, it didn't take long for the five of us to get them on, the lights on and the ceiling fans going too. A quick call on the house phone behind the bar brought someone over to get the sound on and the two guys ordered a bucket of beer. Fred and I ran up to the room, tossed the vodka & rum into the rolling cooler, ice, cans of soda & cups and were back to the bar before kickoff.
So, we created our own party! We actually made some drinks for some folks that walked up and hung with us for a while. The really funny part was if anyone asked if they could get the Steelers game (or any other game besides the Giants) on one of the tvs, we were like, UM, sorry, just Giants today! We even had some people sit down at the bar and wait for one of us to ask them what they would like to drink. We were rolling!!!! I wonder if anyone sent an email or complained about the horrid bartenders at the pool bar. We had about 10 people hanging out at one point (room service was busy that afternoon!). Around the end of the third quarter, we ran over to Picabu for some lunch (roasted chicken with mac & cheese and creamed spinach - yummo!) It was a great afternoon, if only the Giants had won. Poop!
Once the game was over, we all said our goodbyes and headed back to the room to get ready to spend some time in Future World before Em & I's dinner ressie at Le Cellier. I also took along the umbrella I purchased at AK the day before because I noticed it was broken and I was going to try to exchange it for a new one. Unfortunately, every place was out of umbrellas!
First stop once thru IG?? SLUSHIES!!!!!! I really can't decide which one I love more, Grand Mariner or Grey Goose Citron - it had been too long (almost a year to the day since I never got to have one back in February) We then took a spin on Test Track since the stand by was 10 minutes.
Don't I look like I'm sleeping in the seat behind Emily???
Fred (front row all the way to the left) is in the frat boy car
After TT Fred was begging to see Captain EO and he was so excited Em and I said FINE!!! and off we went. Once seated in the theatre, I thought it would be a great opportunity to catch a few winks but alas, Fred caught me and nudged my awake. DRAT! I've never seen EO (I am not a MJ fan) and I really didn't enjoy it. Oh well, at least I can say I saw it.
Our ressie was getting close and Fred had to work early in the am so we headed to WS and said our goodbyes overlooking Sharon's cottage (she is NEVER home when I'm there!!) Fred promised to come back before we left. Em and I checked in early at Le Cellier. This was a first for both Em and I and I was super excited to try it.
First off, I wasn't that impressed with the atmosphere. It was kinda boring (I know, it's a cellar and all but still...) We were told to sit on a bench and we waited, and waited, and waited. We grabbed a menu and played some trivia while we waited some more. Finally we were called and we were sat in a nice corner with a booth back and chair front. I can't remember our server's name but she was very stoic and almost made me feel guilty for cracking a joke but I redeemed myself when I ordered Em a Unibroue Ephemere beer (one of my faves) and a Unibroue Blanchede Chambly for myself (a favorite of our server's Mom).
We started out with the Artisinal Cheese Assortment which was pretty much the exact same thing as the one I had at Cali Grill in Feb. I still loved it just the same. The bread and butter was amazing and it was difficult not to fill up on it.
We then shared the Mushroom Filet (med rare pleese) with Wild Mushroom Risotto& white truffle butter sauce. I exchanged the side dish normally served with the dish for the potato pave and we also ordered the Poutine Fries (cheddar, truffle salt & red wine reduction). I must admit, by the end of the meal, I heard angels singing because that steak was AMAZING!!!! Cooked perfectly, I could have just started singing with the angels but I'm a horrible singer and I didn't think anyone would appreciate it. The pave wasn't very memorable but those fries ROCKED my socks! The only downside was we were uncomfortably full and really could have used drawstring pants and a ride on a rickshaw back to the Dolphin.
So we took it slow on our return and relived the meal by talking about it nonstop. The weather had turned into a magically warm evening so we hung out on the Boardwalk for ages enjoying the juggler and plate spinner. I also found out that Emily had never played Frog Bog (or in this case Lob a Lobster). So I plunked down $10 for a few rubber lobsters and we whacked the heck out of thing with the mallet sending lobsters flying everywhere!!! I did manage to get one in the pot and won a small stuffed shark...
We also stopped into the BW gift shop to see if they had any umbrellas to exchange my broken one for. Nope! When we reached the Dolphin, I made a last ditch effort for an umbrella at Daisy's Corner gift shop and yes, they had one!!! Hooray! I also picked up a pair of Flip Flops for my aching, blistered feet. I have never had problems with blisters but I made up for it this trip - I still have marks on my feet over a month later! I also purchased a Thomas Kinkade puzzle of the Castle for Jennie #1 since she loves Kinkade and puzzles. They were offering a duffle bag for $16 with a purchase over $40 but I really don't need another duffle so I asked if I could take my reciept to the parks where they were offering backpacks instead. The CM sounded so convincing when she told me that sure! I could do that. Um, not so much as you'll see on our last day!
I'm not sure when we turned off the lights but I did set the alarm for 7am to make sure we made EMH at AK the next morning.
Next up.... Mother Nature gets out of her funk and into one heck of a good mood!

When I sing most people ask for Over The Hill and Very Far Away. Not just the song but that's where they want me to sing it. Knew I liked you for a reason Lets Go BIG BLUE. Too many Pidgeon fans here where I live
