Lost Hats, Lost Gloves, but did we lose our minds? Trip Report - Dec 18-23, 2010 - COMPLETED - Page 10 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Thank you all for reading along. We have been slow to update as things have been busy. We hope to finish today. Thanks!
Sorry it has taken us so long to update. We have been really busy. We hope to finish up today.
We woke up early. Here are a few pictures to show ya….
We again get ready and have breakfast in the room. We actually caught a bus and made it for the opening of Hollywood Studios. Yeah we are finally going to get to show Ddad this park. DH was again the chosen one for FPs. After entering the park he heads to get our TSMM FPs. As he heads past the times board, it already had posted a 60 minute wait 5 minutes after park opening!!! DH described the fast pass line as organized but it took about 15 minutes for him to get FPs. At opening, the FPs were already after 12:30. The rest of us head towards Sunset Blvd. DW takes one for the team and rides TT with DD, while DS and Ddad look around. We know lots of people this ride. The first time we rode this ride was in 2009, it was DH, DW, DD and DS. DS was actually scared speechless. This might have impacted DW impression on this ride. DD again loved her drops in the dark, where DW thought it was better than the first time. She is still not in love with this ride. She however does love her DD.
Here are some pics from what happened next….
Voyage of the Little Mermaid (a first for DDad, DH and DD)
We helped Playhouse Disney celebrate Minnie’s birthday!
At this point we were a bit hungry so we headed back down to Sunset Boulevard to eat at Fairfax Fare. DH & DD walk over to RnRC to get FPs. They take all 5 park tickets to allow DD to ride twice as DDad & DS will not ride. We then get some pretty good food (sorry going off memory so we don’t remember what we got).

We meet with some favorite characters, which was another first.
We made it to the first show of LMA Stunt show. It was a first for us all, but Ddad was absolutely amazed by this experience.
Of course the photos don’t do this show justice. You should really see it for yourself, if you have not seen it.
Sorry at this point we are again unsure of the exact order. We should have taken notes or better pictures to help us remember. We know we did Honey I Shrunk the Kids Play Area, The Great Movie Ride, Muppets and of course we had to use those FPs.
DH and DD used the 2nd set of FP, while the rest of us did some shopping. DS got him another fluffy. DD was able to get her some charms for her bracelet and she added a necklace to her collection.
We had 6:35 ressies for 50’s Primetime. Sorry we forgot to take pics of our food. It was really good. DH had the chicken-which he said was some of the best he has ever put in his mouth, DDad had the pot roast, DW just had the chicken noodle soup and shared some of DH and DD meal. DD had the kids meat loaf (she did not like it-it was very different to what her mama makes???) and DS had the chicken nuggets. To end the meal we think we had the brownie sundaes and ice cream. Overall, a fantastic meal!
We then strolled over to see the Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights. This was the third time we have seen this but it is just amazing. DDad was just in awe…he couldn’t take enough pics!
This is not the lights yet…but I love the photo of the fountain outside of Muppets 3D
Here’s a couple of photos of the lights! Awesome!!! Photos do not do them justice!!
And one last pic with a hidden mickey….sorry we got carried away J
Overall a great day at HS. We slowly walked out of the park and picked up a few snacks from The Writers Workshop.
Memories of Day 5
The weather today was….warmer in the lower 70s
The best thing today was….50s Prime Time…mouth watering chicken!!
The worst thing today was….crowds
The funniest thing today was....getting squirted by the large coke bottle
Today we tried….Lights Motors Action
And the result was….a fantastic show
The most magical moment today was…DDad experiencing Osborne Lights
Wonderful pictures. I cannot wait to see the light show this year.
Thanks! You will love the lights. We will look for your pics after your trip as we will miss them on our next family trip. This will be the first time we will not be going in December.

We packed up as much as we could the night before and were ready to get up and have our last hoorah with an early morning ADR at Tusker House in AK. We dropped off the big suitcases with bell services that had to go on top of the van in the carrier. We have had a tradition (we have only gone twice before) to end our trip with a magical breakfast with characters. So after dropping the luggage off, we were off to AK to enjoy a breakfast and to soak up a little bit more magic before we left for home .
The tree was beautiful going in…
We got to AK for opening ceremonies. I prefer when they had mickey in the lift in front of the tree. Now they rope you off before the oasis and Mickey and friends come riding up in a safari vehicle.
We then made our way with the crowds going to visit the yeti or go on a safari….we were heading to Tusker House for breakfast!
We got checked in and got to meet the host himself…crazy Donald…
After getting our bellies full on jungle juice and breakfast goodies , we took one last stroll to soak up some magic. We have never gone to Camp Mickey/Minne so we decided to stroll that way and take a look on the way out. We are very glad we did. We got to meet some special friends with no lines….
The Christmas trees in this area were awesome…we took lots of pics….
