The Trip that Almost had No Memories! Nov. at WL! - Page 10 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Hehe, it was! We got so much done! My little DD5 has so much energy, she can run circles around me. However, she can get VERY cranky when she gets tired. We were really lucky in that she was so engaged in everything that she didn't complain much (except at WS). But you should've seen her when we left that night. Zonked out.
Thanks for reading!

Day 6- DTD & EPCOT
Today we allowed ourselves the luxury of sleeping in. I wanted to go to Downtown Disney but when my DH figured out that the only reason I wanted to go there was to shop, he decided he wasn’t to into that idea. I graciously offered to go by myself and let them stay at the hotel. He and Kylie were both in the mood of exploring the hotel and going swimming. Sounded good to me and it would be easier to shop if I didn’t have DD5 with me begging for everything. So I got ready and headed down to the bus stop. Bus after bus came but none for DTD. I think all said I waited about 45 minutes before 2 buses showed up to go to DTD. I was a little less than happy about this cut in to my available shopping time. DH wanted me back around 12:30 so we could head back to EPCOT to see the World Showcase and eat lunch. By the time I finally was able to get to DTD, it was about 11 a.m. Time was ticking!
I darted out like a crazy woman as soon as our bus got there and frantically tried to figure out where to go. I wanted to check out both the My Little Pony and Mr. Potato Head bars where you stuff the boxes with all you could for a set fee and I wanted to go to World of Disney to buy the rest of our souvenirs and use my Disney Visa discount. Stuffing those Pony and Potato boxes ate up quite a bit of time although I had this really nice CM that knew the art of how to stuff them to maximize what one could get in. It is possible to get every accessory and 2 ponies in the My Little Pony box! It wasn’t possible for My Potato Head but she fit in at least 3 or so different character outfits for me.
Once through with Once Upon a Toy, I headed to the massive World of Disney store. I didn’t know where to start! I just went in one way and ended up in another section. Finally I gathered up DH and I “4 Parks 1 World” t-shirts, a Donald/Chip-n-Dale shirt for me, a Goofy shirt for DH, an all Disney character shirt for DD5, a WDW hat for my Dad, Minnie ears dog toy, Disney cats catnip balls and added on the bonus WDW duffle bag promotion. Oh and as a free gift, we had gotten these vouchers with our check at a couple of table service restaurants offering a free 4 lithograph set of all the WDW parks at WOD store. How exiting! These lithographs are really cool and free! This alone was worth my trouble to head to Downtown Disney.
By now it was close to 12:15 p.m. so I headed back to get on the bus. I think I just missed my bus as it pulled out and waited about while for the next. By the time I got back to WL, it was about 1:30. I felt fortunate I was only an hour late based on how much time I spent waiting for a bus or being on the bus!
We hurriedly got back down to the bus stops to go to EPCOT. First thing we did was try to get Soarin’ FPs but at 2 p.m., they were gone for the day. Oh well, at least we got to ride it once. We were really hungry for lunch so headed to Morocco to the Tangeriene Café for lunch. DH and I both got the schwarma plate and DD5 got the chicken strips. Our food was really good but I would have preferred pita bread instead of the hamburger bun looking thing. Kylie’s meal was probably the worst of the trip. They also didn’t have real, fresh brewed iced tea so that was disappointing. I hate instant tea!
We had to backtrack a bit as we wanted to see if Marie Kitty could be spotted in France. This is Kylie’s most favorite of all Disney Characters (besides Tinkerbell) and we really hoped to meet her and get pics and autograph. No such luck and they told me that she is a rare character to find. Bummer.
So we tried to go to the Kidcot stop. The one in Morocco was a madhouse as well. After about 3 tries to get our passport stamped and mask completed, we gave up. They were severely understaffed at those stations and lines were really long. It was ridiculous. Kylie was getting agitated about waiting or when we would tell her to give up that we weren’t waiting. DH was getting put out waiting on us when we would try to get the Passport stamped. It was just a mess and our nice happy Disney moods were souring quickly. We decided what would help our cranky situation was to head to our happy place, Germany, to get German beer. Kylie didn’t think this was such a fun idea, in fact she was beginning to tire of the whole World Showcase experience, period. Despite her protests, we headed on to Germany and took a little rest. We bought beers in souvenir plastic steins that say Germany, EPCOT on them and split a huge fresh pretzel. It was very yum and I wished that Kylie enjoyed things more.
But it DOES get better (thank goodness)!

The world show case is not real kid friendly at her age. To bad for the line (I would of made it more fun like I did to my cousin dd4 when we were at DL together by giving her a ride on my lap in my Power chair and telling here about the different countries we we in) may need to get there in the morning time. About the shopping that sound fun but the bus I don't think it that worth going to DTD at lest at WDW. DL's DTD is much nicer. That also made my mind up not to try to get to DTD on my own by bus.

Sounds like you got a lot of shopping done, sorry that you had long bus waits however. Its a shame that the kidcot stops were not properly staffed, luckily we have always had good luck there (except for an occasional not so into the Disney spirit CM). Can't wait to hear how the rest of the day went.
Laura! I just spent the last several hours at work reading your entire TR to this point! I was so disappointed for it to end!
You remind me of myself last summer--all researched and excited! When I got to the missing camera part, I was yelling into the computer--Go to Wal-Mart . So glad you took my advice.
Your baby girl is darling! (Wish we could see more pics, hint, hint)--although you do a great job of painting the picture. I feel like I'm there with you!
What a magical trip so far--can't wait for more!

Sounded like you bought a lot in your short time at DTD.
I am expecting long bus waits in Sept. due to the cutbacks. I guess we will just have to be patient. That is another reason I am not doing the DP this time, I don't want to be rushing around to make ADR's on time.
Thanks for sharing your trip.
