As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just got caught up with your TR Cheryl and I'm finding it so enjoyable!!! The seats on your flight over were great, and although your hotel room in NYC was small, it looks like it was nice. Angie sure was able to show you around alot just in the first day that you arrived!!! I live about 45 minutes outside of NYC and go in to see Broadway shows about 5 times a year, and I've never captured still pictures the way that you're able to!!! You've certainly got a great eye for it. The picture of the five of you in the Disney Store turned out so nice and it must have been so much fun having Sharon join you for dinner also! I can't wait to hear about Serendipity 3. I've never been there.

We got some photos at the front of the restaurant before going in and it was a shame that we were here, as Sara suggested it and sadly she couldn’t join us in the end. Still, lots of photos were sent over to her as the night wore on, particularly of the excellent desserts they have here. That’s what they’re known for. The story goes that it was set up by three guys (hence Serendipity 3) with $300 and soon they had lines around the block to go in and it’s gone from strength to strength since then. Although it’s famous for dessert, it’s also got some good entrees.

Finally, we were ready to order, after Angie and Sue decided what they were having. Every time we thought we were getting close to them coming to a decision, something else came up for them to debate. It was classic.
Mark had the not so chicken little soup (what a great name!) as he wasn’t planning on dessert and I went for the asparagus and Jarlsberg omelette, a very unusual combination and very good it was too. For entrée, Mark had the shepherd’s pie, although I understand there was a lot of discussion later with the server about whether it was a real shepherd’s pie or not, but I missed a lot of that, as Steve had called and I was talking to him at the time.
”Now how am I going to eat this?”
For dessert, Sue and I ended up sharing the forbidden Broadway sundae (I think that’s the right name) and, despite what the others though, I did share it with her – honestly!
Sharon also had the famous frozen hot chocolate and I know it’s a contradiction in terms, but it was good. I can see why they are famous for this.

We took our time with our meals and had a good time just sitting there, chatting and laughing. We were in a corner again, a tradition for PassPorter meets – or so it seems!

All too soon, it was time to leave and it was so sad to say goodbye to everyone. At least we had been able to spend the afternoon with Angie and we would see Sharon again in Disneyland, which was just as well, as it wasn’t long enough. Sadly, this was all we would see of Sue for this trip. Guys, we are going to have to sort out vacations better next year, so that they coincide better.
We grabbed a taxi and headed back to the hotel. It was painful at first as both Obama and McCain were at a charity do in the city, which meant quite a few roads closed, but once we got past that, it was plain sailing and we were quickly back. I got some night shots on the way back and the top of the Empire State Building from our room.
Then it was off to bed. By then, we had been up for over 22 hours non stop. Not bad going.
Today we walked 7.38 miles The weather today was sunny and in the low 70’s and very humid when we first arrived in New York. The best thing today was spending time with Sue, Sharon and Angie. The worst thing today was the humidity. The funniest thing today was Mark with Pluto. Today we tried going to Central Park And the result was it’s beautiful and well worth a visit. The most magical moment today was seeing Mark and Pluto together.
Great update Cheryl!!! The photos were fabulous and the pics of the desserts, well let's just say they made my mouth water and now I want a chocolate sundae for breakfast!!! Can't wait to read/see more!!!

Dinner looked like loads of fun and delicious too...everyone's meals looked so delicious and the desserts outstanding. Glad you were able to spend the day with friends and have some great quality time...
Poor Mark looked exhausted, glad you were able to get around the traffic and make it to your hotel for a good nights rest.
