The Light at the end of the tunnel to the Caribbean Beat Trip Report Sept 18 to Sept 29 - **Updated 3/31** COMPLETE!! - Page 10 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

After that we stopped & got some photopass pictures done on our way to Kali River Rapids. We were walking down the path to get to the ride when these kids come down barreling down through the path. If that wasn't bad enough the mother comes barreling through too. A few seconds later the dad come by & said excuse me & apologized for his family in his broken English. It was bad enough that the kids did it but the mother was enough to make me scream. They were already wet so we knew that had just gotten off & ran back over to ride again. When we got the ride they were in the raft in front of us. I thought we're glad you ran all the way here to be one raft in front of us. Of course we got wet on this ride my mom always gets soaked & who ever sits next to her.
I sat next to my mom on Kali
It is a joke in our family of who has to sit next to my mom on this ride. We decided to forgo the Safari since last year we waited in line for 45 mins. We didn't do It's a Bugs Life last year so we wanted to make sure that we got to see that.
It was a great as usual. At this point we had discussed riding over to Port Orleans to check out the hotel. We made our way out to the bus stop it was about 2:00pm. We headed over to PO & went inside to the check in desk to get some info & look around. Outside we check out the pool, different buildings & the food court. It was alright but I really love CBR theme. I know there is a lot of PO & POR fans here but I am CBR girl by heart. So we got on the bus for Epcot. After seeing that the bus went around both resort & how long it took I was just not into it. So on our way to Epcot my dad see a shirt this guy is wearing that has the birds on it & says Mine, Mine, Mine. We get off the bus at Epcot & my dad decides he is going to walk over to get the shirt that he saw. My mom was happy because he never wants to buy anything when we are there. We decide to go back to the hotel & he was going to go in Epcot. We got back to the room & exhaustion had hit us like a cement truck. My brother decided he was going to the pool. My mom & I decided that the bed was calling our names. We laid down for a while my dad came back & decided that he wanted to lay down a bit too.

After a while we got up & decided to go to the quiet pool for a little while it was probably around 4:00pm. We went swimming the water was so warm that it felt like bath water. My mom liked it but I would of rather it been about 5 degrees cooler. It was so warm that there was a couple of 7-8years old going to the ice machine to get ice in cups & were pouring into the pool. I thought that this was hilarious. After the swim we decided to go change.
My mom & I had some last minute souvenir shopping to do. We went down to the OPR to get few more things. We had decided that we were going to get pizza to eat while we were packing. After we finish shopping we order the pizza. We decided to go outside to the pool bar area & wait for the pizza. We took some pictures while we were waiting.
We took the pizza back to room so that we could start packing up our stuff. When we were finished with the pizza it was almost time to check in for our flight on Southwest. So my mom, dad, & I walked over to the Custom House to check into our flight. Shayne decided that he wanted to go back to the pool. We had leisure walk of the Custom House & were a little early for our check in. We had a nice conversation with the CM who was helping us. We check in for our flight & walked over to Bell Service to get a time for them to pick up our luggage in the morning. We were laughing because we thought we might have to ship some of our stuff home. We walked back to the room so that we could start packing. I decided that I would take all the dirty clothes that we had & do a couple loads of laundry. While I was waiting on the laundry I went back to the room to start packing. The chore of packing up all the stuff took us a while. I think that we finished up around 1:00am. All that is left is a few items that we need in the morning. My parents & I walked out to the main path to sit for a little while before we went to bed. I thought this place is wonderful; it was so quite & peaceful. We got to bed close to 1:30am.
Up Next: Departure day & best view for breakfast when it's your last day.
Sounds like a great day. In your bug eyes photos, you can really see how much Shayne looks like your DF! Sorry this is coming to an end, but looking forward to more.

It is sad that it is all coming to an end but in just a little over 6 months I will be experiencing new memories.

Your lucky I just couldn't believe that family. Atleast the father was polite enough to say sorry. We had a wonderful time at the CBR.
I am working on the last day which I hope will be done by the weekend. I had to delete some of pictures from the Trip Report because I am running out of room. I have alot of cute pictures from the last day.

Amy, have you thought about using a site like Photobucket? It's free and very easy to use. I'd to see your photos!!
Day 12 Sept 29 The last day of our great vacation that is coming to an end. We had packed most of the stuff the night before & just had a few last minute items to pack away. We had scheduled for bell hop to come by at 8:45 to pick up our bags. We have ADR at Chef Mickey's at 10:10. We all get up & got ready. Packed up the last few things up & double check everything. My mom & I walked down to the main path & I took some pictures.
While we were waiting they called from Bell Hop to say that they are running behind & he had a couple of stops before us. We could just leave our luggage by the door if we had to be somewhere. . So we decided that we could stick around for a little while & wait. Within five mins of calling he showed up to take half of our luggage. He was picking up the luggage from the room next to us. We had extra water & juice left over. So we offered him some & our maid came up while we were waiting and so we offered her some to. They were both so excited. We had the best maid while we were there she was friendly & great. I had made tip envelopes with our pictures on it & little sayings. Every time she would see us she would tell us how she had been telling her family about us & taking the envelopes home for them to see. Don't you know we forgot to find out her name. Before we left on the ME we tried at the front desk to see if we could get her name to send a letter telling how good she was. We never did find out. Well after everything was taken care of we walked down to catch the bus to MK.
We were off to Chef Mickey's for our traditional farewell breakfast. We got to Chef Mickey's & had our family picture done.
This one we buy every year. We waited a few minutes before our pager went off & they took us to our seats. You will not believe the view I could get from the table.
I have to say what better way to have your last meal. I was able to look out at the window & see the Castle, Space Mountain, & Astro Orbiter. While my brother & Dad were getting some food. I was taking pictures like crazy. My mom & I both were a little teary.
We had been there for 12 days & were exhausted but it was coming to an end. We have to wait a whole year before we can see all of this again.

We had a great meal & lots of interaction with the characters.
My brother had taken the balloon Goofy that he had got outside of Planet Hollywood with him. Pluto got a kick out of this & was trying to punch it. When Goofy saw this he was so excited & even motion that it looked like my brother.
We had a great last meal as we always do there. Once we were finished we walked down to the back to get our pictures done with statue.
I wanted to stop at Town Square so that I could get our Chef Mickey's pics on the PhotoPass. After that we just took a casual walk down Main Street to get pics.
I got a few more pics for the Photopass with Tinkerbell.
Off to Tomorrowland, Shayne wanted to go on the Indy Speedway. While he was on the cars my parents went & waited for him to go by.
I went in & got a stuff Stitch with a Mickey bar & Mickey ears on.
We had yet to ride the Liberty Belle Riverboat & this was our third trip so off we went. The next boat was coming in five minutes so we sat there & waited.
As we loaded the boat we started to hear thunder & dark clouds were rolling in.
The boat took off & it started to spit a couple of drops. While going past Tom Sawyer Island there were a three young guys standing on the bridge & waved. My mom waved back & they started waving both arms which my mom repeated. They started to shake their rumps at us. We laughed & then it was almost like they just realized what they were doing. I think they got a little embarrassed. Half way through the cruise it started to sprinkle & as we made the last turn to go in it was a steady rain. We ducked under cover until we docked. As we were leaving the boat the rain became a little steadier & slowed down to mist. We got something to drink at one of carts & could still hear the sky rumbling. We decided that we need to find place to find shelter. On the way Shayne got into the stockade so we could take a picture.
We found a little table & chairs that were under cover. A few minutes after we sat down the sky open up again & it down poured for a while. .
