The "If we are already going to be in the state of Florida..." Trip Report - UPDATED 10/3 - Complete/Final Thoughts - Page 10 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just as a disclaimer, in general the further into a trip I get, the less pics I take, as evidenced by this completely picture less update….sorry!
As per usual, DH and I were the first up, shower, and separately head to the lounge to pick up some breakfast treats as well as Izzy’s special breakfast. While DS was still sleeping, I gently felt his forehead and happily, no sign of fever. Of course, just to double check, I did take his temp and it was a lovely 98.1!
The kids rallied themselves and we headed off to Epcot. I had seriously messed up the touring plans with DS’s illness but ~hey~ we were at Disney and we were fortunate everyone was now healthy and we would just have to figure it out! On the ride over, we all discussed the priorities of the day. We love touring together but today, at least in the beginning, would have to be a ‘divide and conquer’. It was the only I was feasible to get it done!
DH and DS headed to TT and MS Green while DD and I headed to Nemo. I have to say, when I first rode the clamobiles on our last trip, I was less than impressed and gave the whole experience a big ~eh~. Today, I was pleasantly surprised that I really enjoyed the trip and of course, it was all the more special sitting next to my adorable DD! From there, we headed into Turtle Talk which is always a family favorite. Izzy really wanted to get picked and tried her hardest to stretch her arms tall and wave them a bit. No such luck today, but the show was very cute and I love to watch me kids’ reactions as they watch something….precious! We exited and did a little exploring as we waited for the boys to find us.
We headed over to Soarin’ next so my crew could take flight over California. I, ever the wimp, still cannot bring myself to try it out. I hear rave reviews and should really give it a try but I am so fearful that it will make me motion sick. Adventure and adrenalin…not my middle name. However, I knew it would be a bit so I headed to Living with the Land which I always enjoy. Afterwards, I hung out on the bench chatting it up with various people who happened to be sitting round me. At one point, I called my very good buddy WHMom, who had surprised her kids with an impromptu trip to WDW early this morning. (We have known each other for about twelve years, meeting when our boys were babies. At the time, we lived one town away from each other on the South Shore of Massachusetts.) I checked in to hear how the great reveal went and that they had safely landed. Her boys did not know that we were at Disney and we had dinner plans together this evening!
Before long, my crew appeared and we were going to attempt to see Honey, I Shrunk the Audience, based on a request by Izzy. Unfortunately, when we got there, the preshow was just starting and the kids didn’t want to wait another half hour. I suggested we head to World Showcase to visit Mexico and Norway and then try to catch HISTA on our way back. We meandered over to Norway first where there was a non-existent line for Maelstrom. We happily boarded and enjoyed our cruise. When we exited, we went straight through the theater along with the majority of people…I always feel bad for those CM working in Norway as it seems many skip the movie. We looked around the shop a little but then, it hit me. I remembered reading and hearing and salivating over the description of School Bread. I sent DH into the bakery and I found a nice table outside. Well, this treat was absolutely amazing and totally hit the spot on a hot summer day! I would highly recommend it, especially those on the DDP…it is a snack and can easily feed 3! The only thing I felt bad about was Izzy, whose allergies prevented her from eating any of the yummy treats at the bakery. She snacked on what I had in my bag but it wasn’t very exciting. I promised her a yummy treat would be waiting for her at the GF.
Feeling satisfied, we headed towards Mexico. DS wanted to pick up one of the personalized silver rings that they make there. We filled out the paperwork, paid and were told it would be ready in 20 minutes. We headed into Mexico to window shop and grab a quick cruise in search of Donald. I don’t completely understand the appeal, but my kids love this cruise. Since the lines were non-existent, we stayed on for one more turn. By then, it was time to pick up DS’s ring, have a biological break, and then head back to Future World.
I guess karma was not on our side because as we approached HISTA, we again hit it just as the preshow was closed but the next show was not for 30 minutes. Izzy seemed to take it pretty well; we headed to Journey Into Imagination instead. We stayed in the pavilion a bit, playing around and sending an e-mail or two. By then, we were way past lunchtime, (good thing we had the School Bread earlier). Being a family of routine and tradition, we headed back to the Land to partake in the offerings at Sunshine Seasons. DH and I had the rotisserie chicken over mixed greens while DS chose the Grilled Salmon and mashed potatoes. Totally not needing dessert but being on the DDP, we ordered a fresh fruit, carrot cake, and chocolate cake.
As we exited The Land, and made our way down the hill, we noticed it was getting hot and crowded and some pool time was definitely in order!

It is so much fun to read about your day at Epcot. I remember when you called me...we were on DME, and I pretended I was talking with a different friend so the boys wouldn't catch on that you all were at Disney! I was so happy that we surprised them, multiple times!
I am very glad that you tried the school bread and recommended it to us. It is super yummy!
I can't wait to read about our dinner, because it was such a lovely meal. I wish we were all there right now!!
Oh I'm so glad DS fever broke but what a trooper he is! Sounds like you had a wonderful morning. Thanks for the review about the school bread in Norway. That's been on my list to try in December since I read about it on another board. Yeah, I feel sorry for the CM's in Norway. We always stay for the movie unless we just rode Maelstrom twice in one day.
Hope Izzy gets her HISTK fix! Looking forward to your PP dinner.

So glad Andrew's feeling better, what a difference a day makes! Thanks for the note about School Bread - I hadn't heard of that before! Sounds like a great afternoon snack. Looking forward to hearing about your surprise dinner!!!!
