Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: Two go wild and go west! - THREAD 5 - UPDATED 6/22!

Tuesday 25 April – part four: you’re just jealous Tigger!

I wish I could say the same about Tigger. He grabbed my Eeyore ears, took them off my head and promptly sneezed on them. Nice. Thank you very for that Tigger. I’m sure you’re just jealous because Eeyore is cuter!

In the final photo, Tigger is putting all his weight on me, trying to make me fall over. Although he was trying to be fun, I did find him a bit annoying, but then again, anyone who does anything nasty to the donkey (or his ears!) is not going to be a favourite of mine.

We waked back through Critter Country and noticed that the Haunted Mansion had no wait, so on e went and this time I tried to get some night-time shots, they didn’t come out as well as I’d hoped. See what you think:

The coffin in the hallway

The ballroom scene

The bride and her heart

The graveyard scene with the singing statues

Hitch-hiking ghosts

We stopped to watch some performers in New Orleans Square:

And Mark was able to catch a necklace for me. A nice touch.

We walked through New Orleans Square:

And then into Tarzan’s Treehouse. This is again much better than the version in Disney World. I can see why they decided to do away with the Swiss Family Robinson one. As Mark said, most kids today won’t know who they are. This is much more geared to today’s youngsters, but it’s also enjoyable for adults too. There’s a fair bit to do and see here. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see this version appear at some point in the future at Disney World.

As we walked through Adventureland, I saw Indiana Jones Adventureland only had a wait of 10 minutes. Well, I had to give that a go, having heard such rave reviews about this ride. The wait ended up being a lot more than 10 minutes, probably nearer to 25 minutes and when I came off, it was showing a wait of 35 minutes. I passed the time in line on my own with a guy from San Francisco. His wife was looking after the kids, while he rode and he told me that they had driven down yesterday, leaving at 3.00 a.m.! It took them six hours to drive down, so they got in just after the park opened.

As we made our way through the line, I was so sad that I had given Mark the camera for safe keeping. I really would’ve loved to have got some photos of the temple area you pass through, it’s so well themed and there’s so much to look at. It certainly helps to keep your interest during your wait.

Soon we were loading and were off for the ride of a lifetime. I honestly believe that this is one of Disney’s best ever rides. Yes, it’s jerky, but it’s nowhere near as bad as the Matterhorn and the theming is out of this world. I loved all the fire going off and fortunately I knew about the snakes from other trip reports and I think everyone else in our car had been on this before, as no-one seemed surprised or shocked. Again, you can see how huge this ride is. In the main part of it, it just seems to go on forever. My favourite part had to be when the ball came crashing down towards us. I guessed totally wrong about what would happen next and got a great surprise. If you are able to ride this, then do not miss it, it’s a classic and I hope it makes it to some other Disney parks, perhaps MGM Studios – hint, hint! – real soon.

Next: time for an update? and this needs sorting out!

Re: Two go wild and go west! - THREAD 5 - UPDATED 6/22!

Tuesday 25 April – part five: time for an update? and this needs sorting out!

Our next stop was another Disneyland unique attraction – Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room. This is one of the few rides that I really didn’t like here. I much prefer the Disney World version and can see why they decided to update it. I’m sure it was an amazing show when audio animatronics were new and today it’s still fun, but I just found that I got used to more of a story in Disney World and I missed that. It just felt to me like this needed a major revamp and was out of date, but I know that a lot of people on the boards love this as it is, so I guess I’m in the minority.

We crossed into Tomorrowland and got FastPasses for Buzz Lightyear, as the wait for that was 35 minutes. The park was certainly getting busier by now, there was no doubt about that. There were no other rides we wanted to do here before our lunch at Yamabuki, so we wandered around Tomorrowland, just taking in the wonderful scenery.

We walked past the site of the new Nemo submarine voyage, something we would see a bit more of shortly.

We crossed through Fantasyland and found a mosaic that Mark obviously loved!

We headed into Toontown, as we hadn’t seen that yet and any idea I had of going on Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin went of the window when I saw the wait for that was 35 minutes, so again we just browsed the area. This was a really fun area and – this must be sounding repetitive by now – but I thought this was much better done than the Disney World version. It’s really fun and I loved the fact that there were no straight lines anywhere.

We headed back into Tomorrowland to catch the monorail and this is somewhere that Disneyland can learn from Disney World. I do appreciate that they were only running one way and as the Cast Member told us they need to load and just get them out, but they kept sending them out with space in them and we would always be at the head of the next line, knowing we could’ve got on that monorail that was just leaving. They need to work out the number of seats available, including the front cab and then send that many people up there. On ours, we were in the first cab and there were at least 10 empty seats in ours alone, yet we knew there were more people waiting to get on board.

Next: one of the best value meals on Disney property

Re: Two go wild and go west! - THREAD 5 - UPDATED 6/22!

I your pictures of the Tiki Room...the only thing that bothered me when I saw the DisneyWorld version was that they cut out so much of the Tiki Room song...I it and grew up with it
Toontown looks really cool...I read all about Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin, I hope that you got a chance to ride it, it sounds like fun
