As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Mary Devall is SO PRETTY in her Belle dress! She looked better than the adult one. Eileen's comment [ QUOTE ]

Re: Girl Power - - Take Two Day 3 Part 1 Updated 6/24
Day 3 Part 1
After our long day and late night at Epcot, I suggested to Mary Devall on our loooong walk down the hall to our room at VWL that we skip swimming tonight. When I promised her that we would go twice tomorrow, she quickly saw the benefit to her and jumped at the idea. Whew!
As she enjoyed her nightly snack of chocolate milk and crackers, I shared the surprise with her for the next morning. We were going to have tea with Sleeping Beauty and she was going to wear her Belle dress again. Talk about an excited little girl!
We took our time getting ready the next morning since the tea did not begin until 10:30. I packed all of Mary Devall’s Belle paraphenalia in a bag and we headed to Roaring Forks for breakfast. I had read that the food at the tea was not the greatest, so I wanted to make sure that we had some food this morning. We both had pancakes.
After filling our tummies, we went outside to bell services and asked for a taxi to GF (getting from WL to GF really isn’t that difficult, but I felt that we deserved a royal carriage for our royal tea ). They called over Bill who told us that he would just drive us over to GF in a WL van since they only used taxis for longer fares. Even better! Bill took great care in getting us settled in the van and he was a great conversationalist on the trip over. It’s amazing how much you can learn about someone in a five-minute drive. He was truly one of the nicest CM’s that I have ever met. He deposited us at our destination and we waved goodbye.
Mary Devall hopped in her trusty blue stroller and we quickly found the Garden View Lounge. We had plenty of time, so we found a nearby restroom (and got a bonus sneak peek at Tigger and Pooh at the 1900 Park Fare character breakfast ) and transformed Mary Devall into Belle.
We went back to the seating area outside of the lounge where several other princesses were already waiting. My own princess found a nice spot to curl up.
We did not wait too long before the CM hostesses came to the stand and people began lining up. We joined the line and were quickly checked in, given a card and asked to wait in the foyer. I loved how the little princesses began talking to each other and taking pictures together as if they were long lost friends.
***Spoiler Alert***
One of the CM’s was soon out to announce the arrival of Rose Petal who swooped in (literally) out of nowhere. Each little girl was asked to come up, give the CM her card and then was announced. Mary Devall was “Mary from Marigold.” A crown was placed on her head (we had to ditch the Belle crown for the day - - sorry Belle ) and rose petals were thrown over her. She greeted Rose Petal and took a picture with her.
We were escorted to our table where Mary Devall immediately spotted the Sleeping Beauty doll awaiting her. She got to know her new doll while we waited for the other princesses to be seated. The CM’s brought out tea for the adults and apple tea (juice) for the children.
Once everyone was settled, Rose Petal moved to the center of the room and proceeded to entertain us with stories and songs for most of the morning. This woman is amazing - - she has every bit of the enthusiasm and energy of a child. When Sleeping Beauty made her entrance later that morning, she almost seemed a bit boring compared to Rose Petal . I won’t go into details, but she thoroughly entertained all of us.
Rose Petal was accompanied by a piano player, Baron Branch. During a break, he came by each table for an autograph and a picture.
The CM’s brought out food including tea sandwiches, grapes and cheese. As I had read, it wasn’t that great, but we weren’t here for the food and we were plenty full from breakfast. Both of us nibbled a little. Later, a delicious white cake was served. We enjoyed a little of that, but for once in my life, I think there was too much going on around me to worry about food . In addition to keeping our tables full, the CM’s were also very attentive. The CM who served us came by and offered to take a picture of the two of us.
The grand finale was the entrance of Sleeping Beauty. She danced around the room with the princesses and then greeted each one with a rose. One funny thing (although I’m sure not so funny to Sleeping Beauty) was that she was apparently allergic to roses and kept having to leave the room. She finally recovered from her sneeze attack and made her way to Mary Devall.
Next, Rose Petal came by our table. Rose Petal had an autograph book with her and while she was autographing Mary Devall’s book, she asked that Mary Devall autograph her book. Mary Devall was tickled pink by that request.
While the ladies were visiting the children, Baron Branch announced that he was accepting requests for songs. Mary Devall was a little shy, but I went up to the piano with her so that she could request her favorite “Hakuna Matata.” She really got a kick out of him playing her song. Her requests really opened up the floor because he received a steady stream of requests after that.
Before we left, we took the opportunity to take some final pictures.
When it was time to leave, we said our goodbyes
and returned to the restroom where we turned the princess back into a little girl (although I don’t think that you can completely take the princess out of the little girl ). We had been instructed to go to the gift shop to receive the birth certificate for her Sleeping Beauty doll and a special scrapbook page. Of course, while we were there, Mary Devall found another outfit for her doll (a Minnie Mouse outfit) and I found another scrapbook kit. We also bought a resort tote bag which really came in handy in getting all of our loot home.
Once we had purchased our goodies, we hopped on the resort monorail and then transferred to a WL boat at MK. We were back at the resort in no time.
Mary Devall truly enjoyed the Princess tea. I actually think that she was overwhelmed by all of the presents and attention. The little girls are made to feel special in every way. Don’t go for the food, but do go for the absolutely magical experience.
What? You don't want to go to a park?
