10 Nights of Magic in The Orlando Trifecta-TR - COMPLETE!! 12/10 - Page 10 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

That hot dog definitely looked delish! Scary moment with your phone, but you were very lucky.
I know that with you being from Kentucky you'd find that hot dog appetizing with the barbecued pulled pork on it. It was quite good and surprised how good it was from a CS eatery in a park! Glad I got my phone back and discovered it rather fast as it fell out on the ride. I always check for this after every attraction I go on. So fast as they hadn't loaded the next group yet, but had just begun. My fear was someone finding it in the next group and not returning it! Glad no one was is in the car I was in yet. It doesn't take much time for it to get stolen!

Loved seeing all your pictures Dave and I was glad that you got your phone back!
Glad you are enjoying my photos as it enhances my TRs so much! With each TR as I become more experienced with these the photos have increased dramatically! I was so happy I found my phone and better that I discovered this almost right away!

Wednesday, October 4th (Part IV) I continued walking and progressed through Islands of Adventure. Next up was the Toon Lagoon area with Bluto’s Barge and Dudley Do-Right’s Rip Saw Falls. Both are water attractions and you do get quite wet on these regardless of where you may be sitting in the boat. Much more so than the WDW water rides!
It was quite a hot and humid day and perhaps getting a little wet would be a good thing! I decided I wouldn’t ride both attractions but just go with one of these. I’ve experienced these two attractions in previous visits and enjoyed Dudley Do-Right more, so that was the plan!
I think they have the right idea with the ponchos!
This looks rather harmless!
But then again, maybe not by their reactions!
There was a good size line for standby but I used my express pass and got on rather quickly. For most of the ride there was some water but nothing too bad until you come down the big drop. It’s sort of a delay as it seems when you hit the bottom and the water splashes, but then a large amount of water comes in after the first wave completely soaking you, which was my experience! At least it cooled me off! This felt good with the hot weather, but having drenched socks didn’t!
After ringing out my socks as best I could, it was on to my next attraction and Skull Island-Reign of Kong. This one wasn’t here the last time I visited in 2009, so it would be a new experience. I like the theming of this attraction.
This is the part that looks so cool with the mountains. It’s sort of tough to see but there is active fog and mist around the mountains.
The dark ominous hallway leading to the ride.
I used the express pass once again as the standby was about 35 minutes. It’s a simulator ride and you’re in a large safari type vehicle exploring Skull Island. I enjoyed it and quite an active ride. There are so many simulator rides in Universal Studios. I know off the top of my head that there are at least seven of these!
After this I continued towards the Jurassic Park River Adventure, which I wanted to go on. This is a good ride but not overwhelmed by it. I do like the drop at the end.
A short wait, but still used my express pass.
I was hoping to experience this attraction today, but wouldn’t happen as it was sprinkling a little bit and not in action during rain. Hopefully, I can do this on another day as I’ve heard great things about this!
I like this!
Looks even better from this angle!
I’ve reached this far and almost to the end of Islands of Adventure. I’ve covered a lot today and still had a couple more hours I could spend here before I had to return to the Royal Pacific and get ready for dinner. Just past this area was a path leading to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which I was looking forward to! More than anything else in Universal Studios as it would be another new experience for me. The original plan was to do this tomorrow. As I still had time today, why not!
NEXT: I’ve Heard These Were Good, But Not This Good!

Well, why not indeed? You're almost there, it would be rude not to head into the Wizarding World...
I've never counted how many simulator rides there are at Universal, but somehow I'm not surprised there are that many. They're not my favourite, as they tend to mess with our heads.
You definitely get soaked on the two water rides at Universal, but when it’s hot its not to bad. We really enjoyed Skull Island, I loved the themeing. Hopefully you get to experience the Raptor encounter, we did it twice on our trip and it was the high light of our trip.
We haven't been to US/IOA in a few years so I'm enjoying seeing all the attractions, old and new. We loved the Jurassic Park ride and it was such a long line when it was a new attraction. Glad your express pass worked out so well.
You definitely get WET on the water rides at Universal, but they are very fun! Although I like simulator rides, I think there are too many of them there. It starts to get a bit repetitive.

I couldn't agree with you more! Plus it wouldn't be my only visit to this new area of the park! I can understand your view on these type of rides as they can do it to me a bit, but never too bad. WDW has a few but not this many. I can think of Soarin', FOP and MS off the top of my head.

It was actually quite refreshing getting soaked like this but could have done without my socks getting wet! Loved the Skull Island look. I was looking forward to the Raptor Encounter and a bit disappointed it wasn't operating at the time. I have two more days at USF, so hoping my luck will be better.

Glad I can share a lot of these new additions via experience and photos with you. The River Adventure is a good ride but I think it could be a bit better. I'm enjoying the express pass a lot and saving me time, even though it's not a real busy day.

Both of these water rides are fun but like DDRF a bit better than Bluto's Barge. The problem with the latter is getting soaked by those on the bridge shooting the water guns, which you are not aware of until it happens! I think you are right about the simulator rides. There are some good ones and others not so good.

Yes I was and just so much with many new attraction experiences as my first visit here since 2009. Although, this is my fifth visit to USF. Twice in 2004, 2007 and 2009. Definitely, time to return and better yet with my first stay here!
