As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Re: My Anniversary/ See Donna again, meet Cindy trip! Day 3
Animal Kingdom and finally meeting up with Donna and Dan!
We went up to concierge for breakfast and I got a cappucino and Muffin got a glass of juice and a pastry. Then we headed out to Animal Kingdom for EMH. The park was not at all crowded and the temperature was perfect. We watched the opening ceremonies and then followed the characters to Kilamanjaro Safari. We got right on and saw more animals than I had ever seen before! It was a wonderful ride!!
Next we headed over to Dinosaur! We, once again, were saved in the end and the photo was so cute that we had to buy it! Then we went on Chester and Hester. Muffin thought it was totally lame. Then we went on Triceratops Spin and Muffin, again, proclaimed it BLECH! In short, he did not care for Dinoland.
After this, we headed over to Kali River Rapids. We both love this attraction and got a nice soaking! Then we walked through Africa and stopped in all of the shops, although, I am not sure that we bought anything while here. Still, they are fun shops to look through!
About this time, Donna called and we decided to meet up at Epcot around 3PM. We went to see FOLK and then It's Tough to Be a Bug and headed out of Animal Kingdom. It was only around 11:30, so we had time to go back for a swim before going to Epcot.
After swimming and changing for dinner, we drove over to Epcot and on the way in, I knew I spotted Donna and Dan. We stopped in the bathroom before looking for them and who did I see sitting on the bench???? It was Dan!! I was so excited to see Donna again and Dan is an absolute doll!! We headed over to Soarin' and got a fastpass and once again, had some snacks and drinks at the Sunshine Seasons food fair. We chatted the entire time and before we knew it, it was time to ride Soarin'!
After Soarin', we walked around World Showcase and went through France and Japan. After seeing the drummers, we were all dripping swerat and decide to try and check in early for dinner. A Friendship boat was right there waiting and after docking, we headed over to the Coral Reef.
We checked in at 6PM and they told us that there would just be a short wait.
You guys, this entire dinner experience was magical!! First of all, we got to sit right in the front and center of the aquarium! We honestly had the best table in the house! It was a gorgeous view!! The company could not have been better and the food was delicious!! The entire dinner took two and a half hours and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it!! We laughed ourselves silly and had some great conversation! After that, I think Muffin and Dan were bonded for life! THEN! THey brought out that Chocolate Wave thingy for our Anniversary which was to die for!! We happily split it with Donna and Dan. This honestly was my absolute favorite dinner of the whole trip!
Then we headed off to Illuminations and Muffin was pretty tricky! There weren't many good spots left, but he managed to snag one by going through the gift shop at the entrance to World Showcase. We had a wonderful view and it was a truly awesome Anniversary day! We bid our adieus to Donna and Dan and I told them I would see them tomorrow, after dropping Muffin off at the airport! We headed back for our usual nightcap and a good night's sleep.
Next: Our Sunrise Safari experience, Downtown Disney and dropping Muffin off

Re: My Anniversary/ See Donna again, meet Cindy trip! Finished!
[b] I did manage to find a few pictures! Here ya' go!
Heavy conversation here!
Shady looking, eh?
A diver!
The Chocolate Wave
Something fishy is going on around here!
Now on to the Sunrise Safari!
We got up at 6AM to get ready for the Sunrise Safari. We got upstairs to the concierge lounge at 6:30 for some juice and coffee and spoke with the concierge dude a little about our 'expedition'. Then we went downstairs to the lobby to meet up with the other guests who would be going on this adventure. We all got name tags and were boarded on busses and we went into Animal Kingdom on some crazy back road that I couldn't remember again if I wanted to! Anyway, we saw some stuff there that was pretty cool but we aren't allowed to talk about it.
Then we all boarded the Kilamanjaro Safari vehicles and our guide told us that this was going to be a little different then what we were used to. She said that we were going to take our time, stop whenever someone wanted to and point out and talk about whatever we saw. We were even allowed to stand on the seats to get pictures!! You guys, this is an amazing way to see the Safari and I feel very fortunate to have done this! If you ever stay at concierge at AKL, this is an absolute must do!! It was wonderful!
Then, we went to an awesome breakfast buffet at Tusker House. We had our own private room in the back and we even had the chef come out and explain the food! Then we pigged out! I tried this African egg dish with some kind of sausage that was wonderful and I also had some deep fried french toast. Muffin had a special platter prepared for him because he is lactose intolerant and he said it was delicious!
In short, I would do this whole experience again in a heartbeat!
Well, Muffin had to be at the airport by 1PM and it was around 10AM now. So, we decided to head off to Downtown Disney and do some shopping for the kids. We got a few trinkets and then we took off for MCO. I got Muffin safely to the gate and we said our goodbyes and he got home just fine.
This is where Donna's TR kicks in and since she pretty much covers everything we did- and well, I will conclude mine here!
I had a wonderful time with Donna and Dan. They treated me like an old friend the entire time and I never once felt like a third wheel. I also had fun with Tom and Cindy! Tom is quite a character!
My favorite memory is of the night we went to Pleasure Island! It was fun from beginning to end and I can't believe we closed the place down!! It felt like about an hour!
This was a terrific trip and I can't wait to go back again!!
Thanks for reading you guys!! In the next post, I will show you guys some pictures from the safari ride.
